Bonus holes

The world has gone bonkers!
Apparently there is a charity who in conjunction with the LGBTQ community have put forward this is the acceptable way for vaginas to be described, so that trans women do not feel excluded.
Allegedly to help them come forward for cervical screening for a piece of anatomy they physically do not have.

When does this madness stop - the minority seem to have the misled belief that they speak for the majority of women and can rename our bodies.

AIBU - I do not have a bonus hole - I am a woman
YABU - men can decide what women call their bodies

No, another way are women expected to tolerate these grotesque indignities thread.

A transman can call a vagina a vagina, it’s a proper term for it

as a transman they have a vagina if they have not gone through a full sex change, in the same way a trans woman still has a penis

why should trans people not call their genitals vagina and penis?

Because doing so requires an acceptance of reality.

I know people on this thread will probably not want to hear this, but I can't bear misinformation being spread, so here goes.

OP, you are a bit confused- the term 'bonus hole' is never used by transwomen (who, incidentally, do not require cervical smear tests as they do not have a cervix), nor is it a new term; the term has been used for many years by some transmen, usually gay transmen, to describe THEIR OWN vaginas, never those of cisgender women.

The story you mention about the charity (which unfortunately you don't provide a link for) will, I imagine, be about the charity supporting the NHS in encouraging transmen to come forward for potentially life-saving cervical smear tests, as many transmen are either very unwilling to attend these, or don't even realise they should.

Unless I have missed something, no one is trying to tell you you can't call your vagina a vagina. I agree that would be outrageous.

This. You're frothing for no reason about a world people are using to describe thier own bodies. Stop spreading lies and hatred.

NImumconfused · 08/07/2023 14:58

I agree it's a horrible term, but the point of that glossary is to make sure that the health care provider knows what the trans man is talking about if they happen to use it, not to suggest that they use that terminology themselves. If a patient were to say they had eg pain or discomfort in their "bonus hole", it's important that the HCP knows they're talking about their vagina and not their anus (which is what I'd have assumed it meant).

I don't know why you would have assumed it meant anus. Everyone has an anus but only women have vaginas.

This isa virtue signalling waste of limited resources and I'm sad that a charity set up in the name of a mother who died of cervical cancer feels the need to spend money on this.

Roundandnour · 08/07/2023 15:34

The glossary is confusing tbh
It’s aimed at TM and non binary yet has words used by tw.

So the op might not be spreading misinformation

Ivyy · 08/07/2023 15:37

I'm gender critical but I do not support spreading misinformation - the op is wrong, the term bonus hole is in this instance used by some transmen, because they can't / don't want to use the word vagina, it is also a suggested supportive language glossary regarding cervical screening and cancer, they are not trying to erase the word vagina. They just understand that some transmen will prefer to call it their bonus hole, and it doesn't take a genius to work out why someone with gender dysphoria might feel more comfortable with that.

JudgeAnderson · 08/07/2023 15:39

What about the comfort of the HCP though? They shouldn't have to use terms like that in their place of work.
It's a disgusting word. Implying that the only purpose of the holes in our bodies is to be penetrated, and that the vagina is secondary at that.

nothingcomestonothing · 08/07/2023 15:40

Yes this. A cervical cancer charity should not be legitimising the horrible misogynist language a smal number of women use about their female anatomy. The women who are using this terminology in the context of identifying as gay males with a 'bonus hole' (vom) need supportive therapy, not publications which validate such self hating vile language.

I agree. Can we see an example of a men's charity falling over themselves to include ladydick as an agreeable term in an effort to embrace the language of transwomen?

RudsyFarmer · 08/07/2023 15:43

I’m glad the OP posted as otherwise the last square on my bingo sheet would never have got ticked off.

I had cervix havers, body feeders, chest feeders, pregnant people, menstruators, vulva people, lactators and uterus bearers but what i didn’t have was bonus hole cunt bags, so finally I can complete the game. Phew!

MyTruthIsOut · 08/07/2023 15:43

The whole thing is ridiculous and I say that as a HCP.

If anyone expected me to refer to a vagina as a “bonus hole” then they’d be in for a disappointment.

RichardOsmansXraySpecs · 08/07/2023 15:52

I am in no way in favour of erasing women, talking about pregnant people, bodies with vaginas and all the rest. But I recognise that sometimes when you're talking to a specific community about health issues it's important to know the language that they themselves might use

They don't get to use their own language though. When in a medical setting they are expected to know the correct anatomical name, isn't that why we're always told to tell our little girls not to call it her 'noo noo' or 'flower' or any other silly made up name?

Can you link to the version for male anatomy?

sotiredholidayplease · 08/07/2023 15:54

WTAF, that is insulting and ridiculous.

Roselilly36 · 08/07/2023 15:55

Totally and utterly bonkers, I agree with other posters, the world is completely mad.

Roundandnour · 08/07/2023 16:00

Does this mean that items like tampax and thrush treatment will explain to the female that it is inserted into the bonus hole instead of the language already used?

That schools when doing sex ex will now refer to the bonus hole so that trans kids aren’t triggered?

If there is no push back who is to say this won’t happen?

SideWonder · 08/07/2023 16:13

It is actually unbelievable, isn't it @uneffingbelievable Yet it's happening.

Women need to know how our language is being taken away from us.

Nobody is asking you to use this term, the glossary is there so that you will know what the trans man is talking about if they use it.

I agree none of this language should be being used in materials for the general public, but that is not what this is. As someone else said above, if you want to encourage hard to reach groups to come forward for preventative healthcare, sometimes you have to learn a bit about how they see themselves - you may think it's sad, degrading etc, but that's secondary to trying to get them to be screened. Is it that hard to understand that someone who hates their female body enough to want to try to become the opposite sex ( and yes, I know they can't change sex) might need some extra help to take part in a screening programme that is by definition centred on being female?

I don't agree with trans ideology at all, but I still think trans men should have the support they need to access screening for one of the most preventable cancers there is.

One solitary example would be relatively easy to produce given we are expected to believe this inclusion of trans language equally applied.

Yep

The pp has usefully put together a bingo list

I had cervix havers, body feeders, chest feeders, pregnant people, menstruators, vulva people, lactators and uterus bearers but what i didn’t have was bonus hole cunt bags, so finally I can complete the game. Phew!

Anyone like to do the male anatomy bingo card.

... one of your girls may be trans. Poor them with you for a mum.

You never know, she might be a great mum. if one of her daughters is mentally ill and calls herself trans, she may get her daughter some mental health support.
