Bonus holes

The world has gone bonkers!
Apparently there is a charity who in conjunction with the LGBTQ community have put forward this is the acceptable way for vaginas to be described, so that trans women do not feel excluded.
Allegedly to help them come forward for cervical screening for a piece of anatomy they physically do not have.

When does this madness stop - the minority seem to have the misled belief that they speak for the majority of women and can rename our bodies.

AIBU - I do not have a bonus hole - I am a woman
YABU - men can decide what women call their bodies

Because they're expecting gay men to have sex with them.

Who'd have thought you could convert gay men with a crafty rebranding?

Yes, I imagine the gay men will be queueing up now.

WhisperingAutistic · 08/07/2023 14:43

Oh god, that's absolutely vile 🤢

TomorrowToday · 08/07/2023 14:43

What do you expect when we donate our eggs and wombs for them.

CurlewKate · 08/07/2023 14:34

Like many of these things, it's not quite as bad as it appears on the surface- "bonus hole" is simply one of the terms people might choose to use about themselves. I can't imagine why- it's awful. But....

But what? I don't expect my HCP to refer to my genitals as my cunt because that's the term I use. Why should anyone who uses the vile term bonus hole expect their HCP to follow suit?

StefanosHill · 08/07/2023 14:46

RudsyFarmer · 08/07/2023 14:38

What are transwomen referring to their penises as in prostrate cancer booklets? Does anyone know?

I had a look. They don’t use alternative wording for penis or testicles

Why does this change in language always impact women far more than men?

Batiqueattic · 08/07/2023 14:51

Disgusting, offensive, insulting, degrading. Why is it women's language that needs to change? Men are just No Vadgers.

It's not transwomen being invited for cervical screening, it's transmen who still have a cervix. Educate yourself.

@Clymene "But what? I don't expect my HCP to refer to my genitals as my cunt because that's the term I use. Why should anyone who uses the vile term bonus hole expect their HCP to follow suit?"
It's important that HCPs understand what their patients are talking about. It's presumably their choice whether they use the same words themselves. I remember when I was doing training as an HIV/AIDS counsellor a million years ago, we spent some time learning the vocabulary our clients might use. One person thought a rent boy was someone who worked for the council and went round collecting rent.

Any links?

... one of your girls may be trans. Poor them with you for a mum.

NImumconfused · 08/07/2023 14:58

I agree it's a horrible term, but the point of that glossary is to make sure that the health care provider knows what the trans man is talking about if they happen to use it, not to suggest that they use that terminology themselves. If a patient were to say they had eg pain or discomfort in their "bonus hole", it's important that the HCP knows they're talking about their vagina and not their anus (which is what I'd have assumed it meant).

A transman can call a vagina a vagina, it’s a proper term for it

as a transman they have a vagina if they have not gone through a full sex change, in the same way a trans woman still has a penis

why should trans people not call their genitals vagina and penis?

I know people on this thread will probably not want to hear this, but I can't bear misinformation being spread, so here goes.

OP, you are a bit confused- the term 'bonus hole' is never used by transwomen (who, incidentally, do not require cervical smear tests as they do not have a cervix), nor is it a new term; the term has been used for many years by some transmen, usually gay transmen, to describe THEIR OWN vaginas, never those of cisgender women.

The story you mention about the charity (which unfortunately you don't provide a link for) will, I imagine, be about the charity supporting the NHS in encouraging transmen to come forward for potentially life-saving cervical smear tests, as many transmen are either very unwilling to attend these, or don't even realise they should.

Unless I have missed something, no one is trying to tell you you can't call your vagina a vagina. I agree that would be outrageous.

Thank you for this explanation.

Sick to death of misinformation, fear mongering and general conspiracy theories about transgender people.

I always think this is the litmus test for whether the counter arguments given hold weight.

I will accept bonus hole in everyday language once I see joy stick written in NHS medical literature.

They can and some of them will, but if they don't, does that make them undeserving of healthcare?

JudgeAnderson · 08/07/2023 15:15

Yes, I imagine the gay men will be queueing up now.

These young transmen attempt to enulate what they believe is gay male sexual behaviour - risky, promiscuous, a lot of fetish stuff.

They get exploited a lot, it's easy enough to say you're gay.

I'm quite glad I'm taking a twitter break, I'd quite happily have not known this and I truly wish I hadnt seen the images.

In this case, no-one is asking for it to be accepted in everyday language, just to be aware that a small subset of women might use it.

I am in no way in favour of erasing women, talking about pregnant people, bodies with vaginas and all the rest. But I recognise that sometimes when you're talking to a specific community about health issues it's important to know the language that they themselves might use.

FourTeaFallOut · 08/07/2023 15:16

Where is the misinformation when observing the difference in how trans language is applied in the nhs between men and women.

Where is the literature for men that prioritises the inclusion of female penises? Where is the word man dissolved from testicular cancer pages? Why do you think we won't soon see vagina/bonus hole when we currently have the breastfeeding/chestfeeding pairing dotted throughout our nhs?

This!

OP is ridiculous spreading ‘fake news’ and I’m so disappointed to see how many have fallen for it. The reality is very different to what OP is claiming.

JudgeAnderson · 08/07/2023 15:24

But I recognise that sometimes when you're talking to a specific community about health issues it's important to know the language that they themselves might use.

Why? They'll still know that the medically correct term is vagina and most people would use the appropriate term in a medical setting - I certainly wouldn't go to the doctor and start talking about my fanny.

RichardOsmansXraySpecs · 08/07/2023 15:26

Fleetheart · 08/07/2023 14:23

sounds like a bit of DailyMail fearmongering to me. let’s just leave it shall we?

Let’s not. Let’s call out this nonsense every time it rears it’s ugly head. Women do not have ‘bonus holes’ anymore than men have ‘lady dicks’. If a trans man cannot cope with their vagina being called its correct biological name then I’m afraid they may need to grow the hell up/ get psychological help.

Indeed. Why on earth would anyone visit a hcp and use these revolting porn terms about a medical procedure? How many porn terms are hcps expected to be familiar with if they're doing a prostate exam?
