How much is reasonable for an abroad hen?

As the title says… How much is reasonable to pay for an abroad hen do?

What amount would you expect to pay for to go abroad on a hen do? Not including spending money?

This isn’t asking if people agree with hen dos abroad but just how much would you expect one to cost you.

In Europe over a weekend.

I could say 10k, someone else could say £100. Pointless question without context.

Crunched · 07/07/2023 21:19

I have just had details of a June '24 bachelorette do in Mykonos. It is going to be in the region of £1200, not including flights! Only 3 days as well. Everyone on the Whatsapp group is saying great (14 ladies).

ChristmasKraken · 07/07/2023 21:20

The thing is, it's not really a hen do is it? It's basically a girls holiday. So what is reasonable really depends on the budgets of the people going, as it would with any other holiday organised with friends.

AmyFl · 07/07/2023 21:20

£50

fireflyloo · 07/07/2023 21:22

All in for a weekend away ive prob paid £750 roughly for hotel, flights, food, drinks, activities. Been abroad 3 times for hens. Loved each time.

£50

Can’t even get a night out in the UK for that 😂

Where?

Benidorm? You'd have to pay me £1000 to go.

Lake como? £2500.

It's all subjective. Where to? How long? Quality of hotel? Any days out? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Wow!!! If I did that then my family wouldn't have a summer holiday. Would love to have a spare £1k for a 3 day holiday!

What context do you need exactly.

A standard abroad hen in Europe with all the classic hen crap that goes with it.

No one’s going to say a £100 as flights cost more then that and 10k is for the rich and famous.

Im talking about a big standard hen do.

I don't know what the circumstances of the hen guests are, but I would be mindful of putting financial pressure on anyone these days. And since you asked it sounds like some or all might not be in a position to spend a chunk on this.

If you need to ask, there is a problem really I think.

To answer your question - depends on the cost of flights and accommodation, food, transport, new clothes (maybe), paying something towards the Hen's expenses and so on. It could be a fair chunk. Minimum 5-600 quid. Probably more.

I think people reply ‘great’ while reading out the chat to their partner and saying how ridiculous it is. I just went on a hen and the price changed twice, ended up being hundreds of pounds more than it was supposed to be, the money was needed very last minute and everyone replied as if that was fine when I’m sure most people were in the same boat as me and struggling to afford it

Bumble84 · 07/07/2023 21:30

id say not including food/drinks no more than £400.

LittleMissSunshinePants · 07/07/2023 21:30

I went on a hen do recently to Dublin. 3 days, 2 nights. All very fun and nice but spent around £800 in the end! Was a good time but Hen weekends you pack loads in so before you know it the price keeps rising!
If I'd have known it would be £800 for 3 days I probably wouldn't have gone.

Ohhelpicantthinkofaname · 07/07/2023 21:30

Probably £3-400 for 3 nights, I don’t do high end.

GoodChat · 07/07/2023 21:31

I wouldn't pay more than £250 for flights and accommodation because I couldn't justify it

loverofbono · 07/07/2023 21:33

I'd say to have a good time and not be watching every penny you should budget for £1000

Doggymummar · 07/07/2023 21:35

About £350

cpphelp · 07/07/2023 21:36

I reckon £500

Isthisexpected · 07/07/2023 21:37

£350.

bridgetreilly · 07/07/2023 21:37

I would expect it to cost at least £500 and I would not go.

Tyrionapproach · 07/07/2023 21:40

Okay, a few potential helpful questions....

Location
Time of year
Transfers, luggage, insurance included?
Any excursions or activities included?
All inclusive including booze?
New outfit?
Accessories?
All dressing up on a theme?
Subsidising the bride?
Time of flight?
Ryanair, easyJet or British Airways?
Are you the bride, maid of honour or someone else?
Factor all that in and it could be £300 or £3000
And you could easily spend that in the UK, every time I visit my family it costs around £500... though that is because they're mean spirited feckers who don't have enough space in their four bedroomed homes to offer me a sofa...

Even £300 is more cash than I've got sloshing about right now....!

Kleptronic · 07/07/2023 21:42

Yeah I've just been on one. All in it was pushing £900. But I was the lightweight 😂

SoftAsABearsElbow · 07/07/2023 21:46

£500.

I'd be a bit Hmm at spending more than that just for a couple days away.

Unless there was F1 involved.

Partyatno10 · 07/07/2023 21:47

£150-£200 pp flights, £50-£75 pp per night accommodation (assuming sharing a Airbnb) plus food and booze, probably £550-£600 total
