So tired of cooking the same thing over and over again. I am the main cook for me dh and three boys, two are big teens and eat a lot, recently invested in a double air fryer.
We probably have a rotation of the same meals . If everyone shares their top 5 meals then there will be ideas for others.
Mine are
Fajitas,
Vietnamese style Pork with noodles and a fried egg
Pork chops in honey and soy
Carbonara
Sausage and bean casserole.
Cate to share yours?

Oven baked salmon with feta and veggies
Creamy bolognese pasta bake (bolognese and white sauce mixed)
Home made chicken or vegetable tikka masala
Quiche
Tacos or quesadillas

Oh and tonight we're having pork steaks in panko breadcrumbs with some broccoli and mash

And sometimes I say sod it and shove a pizza or some breaded chicken and chips in the oven because, life.

We sometimes buy the ready made pizza bases and or just get the cheapest cheese and tomato pizzas, and use them with the children to do make your own pizzas.Sometimes,I will just use baguettes with tomato puree and cheese and they can add chicken, ham, sweetcorn etc etc and they seem to enjoy it plus it is relatively cheap and easy to do.

  • Veg stir fry with soy chunks (kids love em)
  • Orzo and chicken cacciatore one pot (BBC Good Food recipe)
  • Burnt aubergine chilli (same)
  • Lamb orzo (love orzo 😅 - a Guardian recipe)
  • Fish with steamed veg and new potatoes

I usually make one or two of the bigger things and have it last a couple of days, then do the more basic ones in-between. I often get cravings for a specific ingredient so search the Good Food website for that and see what takes my fancy. I also have alerts set up for chefs I like in The Guardian (Thomasina Miers is a favourite) and try those out when they appear.

I have a DD who is a vegetarian and DS and DH who are carnivores! Good meals for us that we can all enjoy and is easy to do a veggie version are

  • Spaghetti with homemade tomato sauce and meatballs (meatballs cooked separately)
  • quesadillas (veggie version and then a pulled pork or chicken)
  • roast chicken (no meat for DD and separate gravy)
  • fajitas (cook veg separately)
  • 5 bean chilli

Faves in this house -

Roast - used to rotate meat but nearly always chicken or gammon now. (Ps - gammon is fabulous in the airfryer - roast on 180 for 30 minutes, turn over and repeat) As a treat - maybe once every 6 - 8 weeks or so will get a lamb or beef joint

"Mexican" - the filling is always the same, chicken breasts, chopped toms, peppers, black beans and spices in the slow cooker for 4 hours on high, then shredded up) I just change the shell - so we will have either enchiladas, tacos, burritos or fajitas

Chicken wings - cheap and delicious - season the wings with all purpose seasoning or chicken seasoning and bake for 40 minutes, serve it with air fryer chips and sweet corn.

Spag bol - again done in the slow cooker for 4 hours on high. I always use the Tesco smooth bolognaise and it's really good. I add a chopped carrot and mushrooms and some herbs if I'm feeling fancy. Serve it with a garlic baguette

Paella - I use the Schwartz one pan "Spanish chicken and rice" it's always on offer. We love this meal. Not into seafood but you could add prawns to this too. I always cook this in bulk for leftovers. I serve this with fresh bread
