So tired of cooking the same thing over and over again. I am the main cook for me dh and three boys, two are big teens and eat a lot, recently invested in a double air fryer.
We probably have a rotation of the same meals . If everyone shares their top 5 meals then there will be ideas for others.
Mine are
Fajitas,
Vietnamese style Pork with noodles and a fried egg
Pork chops in honey and soy
Carbonara
Sausage and bean casserole.
Cate to share yours?

It’s very interesting to see how weird corners of different kitchens have become lodged in people’s dinner rotations. This thread has a lot in common with the ‘50 books’ threads where you see how varied people are in their reading habits - one person will cycle through classics to biography to the latest Tesco bargain in the blink of an eye! I wonder if anyone would like to share where their dishes came from? I said in my list that we make bibimbap because there was a local takeaway that did it, but it’s not local anymore!

DH is a meat and two veg man (with gravy) so we do struggle, as he thinks all meals need to be 'wet' and all veg have to be green. But DCs and I are trying to convince him that he won't die if he eats pasta instead of spuds occasionally....

Lasagne
Fish pie
Roast
Hairy bikers Chicken ham and leek pie
Beef stew
Chilli made with chunks of beef not mince, and eaten with jacket potatoes rather than rice
Chicken curry and rice
Chicken fajitas
Pan fried sea bass with bacon and fried potatoes
Chicken and mediterranean veg traybake

My slow cooker is coming out today and I am going to try and do gammon in cola and serve it with potatoes and green beans later.Hopefully there will be some left over for sandwiches/cold meat tomorrow as well.

I’m going to come back and properly read this thread later for inspiration. Meanwhile my most frequently cooked dishes are:

Hoi sin tofu noodles
Butter bean and Haloumi bake with cous cous
Chickpea and paneer curry
macaroni cheese with garlic mushrooms
fajitas

but due to lack of inspiration and a fussy youngest child I also frequently resort to burgers/hot dogs/pizza

@Teenagehorrorbag "DH is a meat and two veg man "

I don't want to sound humourless and heavy, but children learn from and mirror their parents. He HAS to do better than this, or why should his children not just do exactly the same?

Oh don't worry, we mostly just ignore him if he says anything, but we do laugh at his face when he's presented with anything other than spuds Grin. He genuinely doesn't feel that pasta, rice or noodles 'stand with you' in the same way as potatoes, and is not convinced that onions and peppers are as good for you as sprouts and carrots.

I suppose we do eat less spag bol than I would if I lived alone, but otherwise he gets what he's given. And the (teenage) DCs are amazing, they love all foods, and make their own sushi for a fun treat (which DH just can't get his head round). DDs favourite meals are mediterranean vegetables with chicken, or fajitas, so I make those regularly. The other day we bought them lunch in a supermarket as we were travelling - one chose a pasta and rice salad and the other had a vegetable medley with Katsu sauce - DH was quite perplexed.....Smile.

But he is happiest when it's a roast.....

My go tos have changed over the years as life and time available and tastes evolve.

Currently its:

Chicken fajitas

Roasted chicken thighs with goats cheese and thyme tucked under skin with roasted. baby potatoes or bigger potatoes diced to about 2cm squares and tossed in olive oil/minced garlic/rosemary/lemon pepper; and courgettes sliced lengthways and topped with buttery breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan

Nasi goreng using tins and leftovers and random bits of veg

Med veg as a side dish but do loads and freeze leftovers to use thrown over pasta with a small jar of plain tomato sauce (and maybe bacon lardons)

Chicken vadagam curry (I use Green Saffron mixes) which is relish and makes enough to freeze leftovers - it reheats really well
