So tired of cooking the same thing over and over again. I am the main cook for me dh and three boys, two are big teens and eat a lot, recently invested in a double air fryer.
We probably have a rotation of the same meals . If everyone shares their top 5 meals then there will be ideas for others.
Mine are
Fajitas,
Vietnamese style Pork with noodles and a fried egg
Pork chops in honey and soy
Carbonara
Sausage and bean casserole.
Cate to share yours?

Our most usual are spaghetti bolognaise; Italian meatball soup ( like minestrone but with meatballs. Sometimes I make it as a chicken broth soup with greens and chicken meatballs) ; roast chicken; steak and kidney pie; schnitzel

Peruvian chicken - make some sweet and spicy tomato sauce with chipotle, chilli, onion and a splash of honey. Fry up some chicken strips,
add the sauce and simmer, add some sweetcorn. Serve with tortillas or flatbread.

Hard boiled eggs in broccoli and cheese - cut the eggs in half and place in an oven dish, add some slices of tomato or dabs of tomato sauce, cover with broccoli and cheese, put some yellow mustard powder in the cheese sauce.

CorvusPurpureus · 07/07/2023 11:59

Chilli in various incarnations (with rice/jackets/tacos/enchiladas)

Grilled marinaded chicken/prawns with stir fry veg & rice/noodles

Mashi - stuffed vegetables (peppers, zucchini, white aubergines etc)

Anything from 'The Curry Guy' book - but especially his butter chicken made with halloumi not chicken!

Pasta with either a homemade tomato sauce (made in batches in slow cooker, tons of veg) or creamy sauce with smoked salmon/chicken/mushrooms.

Thelnebriati · 07/07/2023 11:59

I forgot the lime, for the Peruvian chicken.

Sausage Pasta

Pasta Puttanesca

Chow mien
Thai Curry
Korma
Honey Chilli Chicken or I put the sauce on salmon instead with cous cous
Sausage and mash

we don’t really have 5 top meals, tbh. I use the Pinch of Nom books a lot.

Pasta Puttanesca Recipe | Easy Pasta Recipes | Tesco Real Food

Delve into your store cupboard for this pasta puttanesca – spicy tomato sauce loaded with garlic, capers and olives. See more Pasta recipes at Tesco Real Food.

We do a version of this, but with less tomatoes and add in some courgette, onion and peppers (and aubergine if there’s one kicking around). It needs a really good glug of balsamic. You can add in some feta for the last 10 mins or so to give it some cheesiness. https://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/pork-recipes/sweet-cherry-tomato-and-sausage-bake/

This is another regular (I make extra spice mix, so I’ve enough for 3 or 4 goes) https://www.themediterraneandish.com/chicken-shawarma-recipe/

Air fryer chicken wings in franks buffalo sauce, with salad and coleslaw.

Moussaka with a big Greek salad

Chicken and courgette curry

Keema

This roast chicken (minus the chickpeas) https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/roast-chicken-peppers-feta

Burgers with portobello mushrooms (all in the air fryer), blue cheese, lots of shredded lettuce, tomatoes, and home made burger sauce.

This only occasionally, but it’s as good as any bought crispy duck (I’m lazy and just buy hoisin sauce rather than make the sauce recipe part😳). https://www.gordonramsay.com/gr/recipes/crispy-roast-duck-with-chinese-pancakes/

Alargeoneplease89 · 07/07/2023 12:04

Crumpleton · 07/07/2023 12:12

Veg tray bake, onion, courgette, bell peppers, fresh tomatoes, herds, garlic. If I'm adding new potatoes I'll also add in chicken thighs, one pot meal.
Or I cook lamb steak separately and serve the veg along with with mashed potatoes.

Chicken curry.

Lasagna, garlic bread

Quiche

Panchetta/leek/philly pasta

Chicken Kiev, croquets, peas

Baked potato, chicken mayo, tuna mayo, cheese, beans, sausage, beef chilli etc.
So much choice of what to serve with them.

Also love a stir fry.

Thanks @whatsmynameaga1n - looks fab!

SpringleDingle · 07/07/2023 12:14

Spag Bol
Lasagne + Potato wedges and salad
Tacos
(All those are made with one basic ragu that I then make a lasagne out of or add beans and a little chilli to!)

Roast chicken with mash and veg
Chicken fried rice with leftover roast chicken
Chicken pie made with filling made from leftover roast chicken, roast root veg and gravy
Chicken curry (sometimes made with leftover chicken!) and rice

Roast beef / lamb / pork with potatoes, veg, yorkshire etc..
Left-over lamb goes in bolognese, leftover beef and pork tend to make sandwiches. The dog does ok on these days too!

Spaghetti Carbonara (Bacon)
English Breakfast (Bacon and Sausage)
Sausage, mash and peas

Baked ham, potato and veg (leftover ham goes in sandwiches, soup or the dog)
Chicken Kiev, potato and veg
Spaghetti and homemade tomato sauce or tomato sauce and meatballs
Kedgeree (with smoked haddock, green beans and egg)
Battered fish, chips and peas
Steak pie, potato and veg
Burger, jacket and sweetcorn
Hot dog, jacket and sweetcorn

Scoobydoobydoobydoo0987 · 07/07/2023 12:28

Ours are:

Lasagne/Spagetti/ Cottage Pie

Chicken Katsu curry

Home paid burgers and home made chips ( buy 500g fresh mince for £2.50 and it makes 4 quarter pounders) buy the buns, cheese, American mustard, etc, whatever you like really. Home made chips, much cheaper and more tasty.

Home-made chicken wings, deep fried ( coat in flour, egg white then flour, add salt and pepper to flour) wings cost about £2 for about 12 double wings which I chop in half) sometimes have Home made chips or mushroom cous cous with this.

Creamy mushroom pasta usually uses Farfelle, but any pasta works.

Have loads more, but that's my top 5

Shufflebumnessie · 07/07/2023 12:30
