So tired of cooking the same thing over and over again. I am the main cook for me dh and three boys, two are big teens and eat a lot, recently invested in a double air fryer.
We probably have a rotation of the same meals . If everyone shares their top 5 meals then there will be ideas for others.
Mine are
Fajitas,
Vietnamese style Pork with noodles and a fried egg
Pork chops in honey and soy
Carbonara
Sausage and bean casserole.
Cate to share yours?

  • Pasta with a Napoli sauce - salad
  • gnocchi with spinach sauce - salad
  • noodles in miso soup and veggies with grilled salmon or tofu
  • griddled vegetables and brown rice
  • huuuuhe bruschetta with salad
we eat a lot of salad! Left to my own devices, I’d live on jacket potatoes and cheese. DH makes a mean omelette though.

Lamb chop with new spuds, cabbage and lashings of gravy

Bellaboo01 · 07/07/2023 11:47

Great thread.

I will add mine. Mine aren't meat heavy though but, are our standard 'go-to' 5 evening weeknight dinners.

  • Minestrone Soup with grated cheese and crusty bread.
  • Pasta with a tomato based sauce e.g - Arriabiata/ Napolitiana (made at the weekend and frozen)
  • Vegetarian Sausages, Mash and Peas.
  • Freezer food heated up in the oven e.g - Pizza and Salad.
  • Melazanne Parmigiana (Migual Barclay £1 meals)

I'll be interested to see others as I would love to mix ours up a bit too.

bluechameleon · 07/07/2023 11:48

Good idea for a thread. Ours are a bit complicated because we have one picky 5yo, 2 omnivores and 1 pescatarian. Our best bets for everyone eating something are:
Prawn fajitas with all the bits in little bowls so people can pick what they like.
Home-made chicken nuggets (with something else for me).
Sausage pasta, again with all the bits in separate bowls.
Mild chicken curry (with some chicken kept plain), daal, rice or naan.
Pitta bread with kofte or falafel, hummus, yoghurt, salad.

overitunderit · 07/07/2023 11:49

We do a couple of easy recipes that came with the Gousto recipe boxes we used to get. Perhaps have a google im sure some clever person has created a website or something for them but the ones we like are:

  • prawn curry made with tomatoes and onions
  • mince stir fry (basically mince cooked with peppers, honey, soy and ginger) served with rice

They are absolutely cheap as chips and easy. Other favourite things we do come from the roasting tin cookbook such as the gnocchi with mozzarella and basil (so easy!) and sausages and sweet potatoes (again literally three ingredients into a roasting tin).

We also love a quick pasta made with anchovies or a puttanesca. DH makes a decent fish curry with coconut milk.

Or another very quick and easy thing I do is salmon baked in foil in the oven with a dressing made of whatever I can find in the fridge eg crème fraiche mixed with some chipotle sauce and layered on top served with some new potatoes and green beans.

Wicksytricksy · 07/07/2023 11:50

Chilli and rice - make extra chilli and then have that another night as burritos with wedges.

Roasted gnocchi

Mac & cheese

Toad in the hole

Pasta with chilli, garlic, spinach, broccoli and feta.

Sallywallywoowoo · 07/07/2023 11:52

Quesedillas - so bloody quick and easy kids love them
Puttanesca pasta - store cupboard friendly!
Sweet potato dhal with naan
Halloumi, mushroom and pepper kebabs with rice
Roasted cauliflower Thai curry

We're veggie so accept these might not appeal to everyone. Cheaper than meat though 😁

JMSA · 07/07/2023 11:53

Halloumi salad
Feta salad (my kids are weird)
One tray feta and tomato pasta bake (you'd think we were Greek rather than Scottish Grin)

Chilli & spag bol
