So tired of cooking the same thing over and over again. I am the main cook for me dh and three boys, two are big teens and eat a lot, recently invested in a double air fryer.
We probably have a rotation of the same meals . If everyone shares their top 5 meals then there will be ideas for others.
Mine are
Fajitas,
Vietnamese style Pork with noodles and a fried egg
Pork chops in honey and soy
Carbonara
Sausage and bean casserole.
Cate to share yours?

’Wagamama’ grilled chicken and katsu sauce with noodles and shredded vegetables
’pasta bar’ basically pasta salad but they all choose how much of anything they add to their bowl of cooked pasta
New potatoes, chunky ham, boiled eggs, green beans/broccoli and I add pickled beetroot and mayo to mine
Burritoes
Sausages, Yorkshire puddings and vegetables

Normally it would of been things like
Chilli
Steak, cauliflower cheese and veg.
Chicken, rice and veg. (different sauces)
Shepherd's pie.
Some kind of tray bake etc...
But we've just moved over to Hello Fresh and I'm finding it much easier. Especially as my 12 and 14 year old can now cook once a week each by just following the recipe 😊

Ctu24agent · 09/07/2023 18:32

This weeks meals:-

home made Lasagne and salad
ratatuille with veggi sausages and garlic mash
Chicken and roasted veg tray bake with rice
puff pastry pizza with med veg

quiche salad and new potatoes.

Due to the cost of living crisis and factoring in I want to eat better my food week consists of:

Garlic chicken breast, brown rice and vegetables, I would eat that twice a week.

Jacket potato and Mediterranean vegetables with siracha sauce and light mayo, again I would eat that two times.

And lastly, tuna mayo jacket potato with vegetables, times two.

It sounds boring but I have a lot of foods that trigger me due to an illness. I normally spend £35 a week on a food shop for two adults and a two year old.

Spag Bol

Chicken Curry(homemade sauce) and Rice

Pulled Pork baps and roasties and cauli cheese

NanaRant · 09/07/2023 18:52

Trying to low carb here. 22 year old adult son who eats like a horse, so big portions for him. Have a fish man deliver to our house, so tend to have some kind of fish dish twice a week:

  • Joe Wicks Cheesy Chorizo chicken with cauli rice (my go-to dish. Use mainly frozen stuff. Easy and filling)
  • Fish dishes are usually Salmon fillet with Pesto or Garlic Butter, veg, etc; Teriyaki tuna (can also swap for beef/chicken) - basically a marinade of soya sauce, oyster sauce, garlic & ginger, with veg, etc; Fish Pie; Smoked haddock bake
  • Salads - whatever I have in - cold meats, smoked salmon, prawns, boiled eggs and various salads
  • Curry & cauli rice
  • Chicken dinner or roast dinner

At the moment with the lovely weather, we are having BBQ's - various meat and salads

My reply isn’t very original I’m afraid…
-bolognese (batch cook using 2-3pounds of meat, wine, milk, chopped celery, carrots, mushrooms, yellow pepper). Freeze in portions for 2-4 people. Saves cooking every time. Also you’ll have ready made filling for lasagna.
-same idea as above with chilli
-roast dinner. Use large chicken or leg of lamb or big piece of beef. Make LOADS of gravy. After serving the dinner slice up all the rest of meat and layer up in freezer boxes with plenty of gravy than you’ve got the next 1-2 Sunday dinners done.
-batch cook a ton 😊of mince with plenty of chopped onions. Fry chopped onion in a little oil, add mince and cook nail no pink bits left. No salt, pepper or herbs Freeze in plastic boxes then you have ready made basis for lots of meals..

Ilovecleaning · 09/07/2023 19:28

These are the things I cook most often, we also get a variety of frozen stuff. I didn't really cook at all before I had DD but I taught myself a bit when she came along. Learning all the time!

Also egg fried rice that can be dressed up or down.

Three of the cheaper easy recipes I’ve got together for my student child who is about to leave for uni…

linsey2581 · 09/07/2023 20:00

Bog standard macaroni cheese. None of that fandangled stuff in it like bacon or peas. Just plain and it goes down a treat always home Made.

BabyStopCryin · 09/07/2023 20:03

Macaroni cheese is the food of the gods. It really is. That a rice pudding. I was given rice pudding after giving birth and it was like nectar. The rest of the food was bloody awful (even the toast!) but the ride pudding…
