I am absolutely sick of him constantly at the door pestering everyone including the elderly he comes over once a day sometimes and has been to this house at least twice this week and others also.

I think this is bordering on harassment but DH says he is just doing his job and say no politely. Some neighbours have complained and also some are elderly and vulnerable and should not have to put up with this on their doorstep. I cannot think of any reason why this is necessary but do not know who to complain to to stop him. Does anyone know who I report to?

like o said, I am so annoyed by it all but DH says it is fine so I am not sure aibu?

Who does he work for?

I don’t know, he doesn’t provide this firmstik, even when challenged.

Ask him if his company does a special offer for people with an unfortunate history of reneging on finance agreements………. I mean, what are a few county court judgements between friends.

1957?

If he won't give his firm I suggest you call the police the next time he's in the area. Alert them via 101 beforehand.

Theos · 03/07/2023 17:21

This sounds so weird

does he sell other things?

AdoraBell · 03/07/2023 17:23

Sounds odd, especially as he refuses to give the company name.

GayPareeee · 03/07/2023 17:23

Do you mean selling dishcloths/tea towels etc etc? Or actually the machines themselves? That's nuts if the latter

Aquamarine1029 · 03/07/2023 17:24

Ignore your husband. Tell this man very firmly to never come back. If he does, call the police. I wouldn't be surprised if other people have also reported this man.

GayPareeee · 03/07/2023 17:24

Otherwise I just say I don't sign up to or buy anything at the door - I used to be terrified but have managed to turn it into anger at people trying to invade my personal space and don't feel bad at all

qwedtask · 03/07/2023 17:24

He's selling dishwashers?

Topseyt123 · 03/07/2023 17:25

Never heard of a door to door dishwasher salesman before! Sounds a bit odd to me and I'd be wary.

I'd be more blunt and just tell him "NOT INTERESTED" and shut the door on him.

saveforthat · 03/07/2023 17:25

Do you mean an actual dishwasher machine or those people who knock on doors selling dishcloths etc who I always feel sorry for and buy loads of stuff from I don't need?

OldEvilOwl · 03/07/2023 17:25

So you say no and he comes again the next day to ask again? wtf??

BiscuitsandPuffin · 03/07/2023 17:28

Is he selling them out of the back of a van? We had a bloke doing this with mattresses a few years back. I think your DH is being ridiculous and you should call the police or tell him to piss off. These people don't respond correctly to pussyfooting around.

Jitterybugs · 03/07/2023 17:39

If it’s actual dishwashers it can’t be anything other than dodgy. If it’s dishcloths I still wouldn’t trust him as you’ve already refused him and he’s come back again. He’s maybe checking for houses with nobody home. I’d report him.

PuppyMonkey · 03/07/2023 17:43

Well I’m invested now - what kind of dishwashers?

LadyLardy · 03/07/2023 17:43

If he returns tell him 'You've been here more than once and been told no. If you return again I will call the police and report you. One refusal is enough from a customer'.

I might add 'You are on CCTV'.

WelshNerd · 03/07/2023 17:46

That doesn't sound legitimate so I would recommend you report to your councils trading standards team.

Fraaahnces · 03/07/2023 17:47

If he’s not providing information about whom he works for, he sounds dodgy as shit. Call the police!

CC4712 · 03/07/2023 17:49

Is it machines he is selling or a person (cleaner) to come in and hand wash your dishes after every meal 😂

Are you in the UK OP? I've never heard of a door to door dishwasher salesperson. Not even had a cloth sales person before. I thought this type of sales persons stopped last century!

CC4712 · 03/07/2023 17:50

Your DH is being a dick and I'd report him. Take a photo/video of him. Sounds VERY dodge!

Radiat · 03/07/2023 17:51

I’ve never heard of a door to door dishwasher salesman 😆 YANBU, he sounds like a chancer, my patience would’ve worn out after the second visit.

Ohhhh, this makes much more sense!
