Does it annoy you when you are asked for a few chips? DH and I had a Chinese tonight he got chips with his main I had rice. This is a standard for us and I always 'rob a few chips' I offer rice but he usually doesn't want it. The way he joked and said no you can't tonight really reminded me of my ex.

He used to get so frustrated/ annoyed if I wanted to 'rob a few chips' and say if I wanted some just order them that I couldn't have any of his, even though he never finished them all so I just thought it was a waste of food. For ref this is how many I normally take threw a spring roll on the plate to ref the size of plate.

YABU - Get your own chips
YANBU - It's a few chips share

I don’t understand why you keep doing this when you are told not to. Just buy your own chips.

LaMarschallin · 29/06/2023 23:20

JOEY DOESN'T SHARE FOOD!!!

I always have to have a taste of what DH is having.
He'll even order something I want to try for himself if I can't make up my mind.
I hope he doesn't suddenly s-n-a-p one day...

Buy your own chips if you want some

Episode 9 Joey GIF by Friends

My DH ate quicker than me , as soon as he finished his meal he would say I will have anything you don't want.
This would be fine if I'd finished or was struggling to finish but I intended to eat it all. When I'd eaten it all he would say "you didn't save me any, "
It drove me mad

In your case @pontipinemum why don't you order the portion eat / take a few then leave the rest so your dh can eat them

ScottBakula · 29/06/2023 23:40

Oh @LaMarschallin beat me to it😂

Clymene · 29/06/2023 23:42

He bloody should do. You are a cf.

Simianwalk · 29/06/2023 23:50

They look such awful chips..do you live in the south 😁

AllyCart · 29/06/2023 23:52

Without being overly dramatic it's a bit controlling of you. You're saying that you won't order chips for yourself but then you expect to be allowed to take your DH's and if he refuses it reminds you of your ex who also didn't like you pinching his food.

So DH doesn't really get a say in sharing his food.

Either order your own or don't have any chips, unless there're offered.

I'd also be annoyed by what you're doing if it's regular/always.

MummyDummyNow · 29/06/2023 23:54

Chips with a Chinese? What now?

(Totally missing the point but chips have no place in a Chinese meal).

MaydinEssex · 29/06/2023 23:57

I could never finish a portion of chips, so I'd gladly let you pinch loads.

NeverQuiteAlone · 29/06/2023 23:59

7 chips.....is it even worth it?

Is this how teeny tinies do takeaways?

RichardsGear · 30/06/2023 00:01

I think it's totally fine when you know he won't eat them all anyway. Seems bloody daft to waste even more chips buying your own and leaving most of them as well. Cold chips aren't nice so you're not going to want to eat what he eventually leaves.

Lemonade84 · 30/06/2023 00:04

If we order a Chinese we share everything and the chips are a big portion...could never eat a whole bag along with a full blown chinese so I think YANBU

AlienAbduction · 30/06/2023 00:04

🤣

Twopintsprick81 · 30/06/2023 00:18

This reminds me of Smithy in Gavin and Stacey😁. I hate people stealing my food but seeing as he never finishes them anyway and you've only taken a toddler's portion, he's being mean. And I hate greedy, mean people more than I hate chip robbers

GeorgeMichaelsCat · 30/06/2023 00:55

I have an aversion to this as growing up my Dad would always want some of my crisps for example. Plenty of packets that he could eat himself but no, he "didn't want a full packet". However his hand would go in and pull out half the packet 😡

It's like, if it was mine it was like it didn't count if he ate it.

Tinkerbyebye · 30/06/2023 01:01

Smithy in Gavin and Stacey is right

get your own food, no sharing with the others

Hairday · 30/06/2023 01:08

Controlling power gesture. Leave his food alone.

Hairday · 30/06/2023 01:10

Sorry didn't see the lighthearted!

🍟🥡😁

Mojoj · 30/06/2023 01:12

People who don't share their chips are greedy and probably chubby 🤣🤣🤣

TyneTeas · 30/06/2023 01:14

If he doesn't finish them anyway, you still need to wait until then, because up to that point they are all his chips, unless you have agreed in advance to share, which it sounds like you haven't

Sceptre86 · 30/06/2023 01:16

I'd stab your hand with a fork. I don't share chips unless my kids swipe them off my plate. Dh knows that once I've started eating, my plate is not fair game. He like you is an annoyance so I offer up some of my meal before I start eating, if we've ordered different things. He's just different to me and we've both learnt to compromise.

MistyGreenAndBlue · 30/06/2023 01:18

If you hadn't said he never finishes them anyway, I'd say you should order your own. However, under the circumstances, he's being a bit of a knob.
My DH always orders chips and I get rice. He usually offers me some. I usually say no, but I know he means it and wouldn't mind if I took a few. But he's not mean or greedy.
