Trying to work out if it is good or not. Does this look like a child that has artistic potential and how old would you expect the child that drew that to be?

OP has probably fled from some of the unpleasant responses here.

I think OP was hoping for validation that his/her child is an art prodigy. Bet the child is 26 😂

6-7 years. My children would create a few amazing pieces which earned them a spot in the royal academy young artists shoes and then move on to produce absolutely rubbish so the odd lovely piece means nothing in my opinion. I have no idea what a promising child artist would create? Probably consistent levels of outstanding work?

I am curious. Why they could produce a few brilliant pieces and then produced garbage? Did they get bored? Didn't make art regularly?

Usually even if you are average, if you have interest, you would practise more and improve. Asking about as a child I was like that but I would get bored or upset if what I was making would not come out as how I imagined.
30 years later, I am still interested in art but the boredom / perfectionism makes me enjoy the process not so much.

I think the good pieces were not brilliant and the less good ones were probably not garbage as such, I may have overstated things in both directions… the work selected for the exhibitions was produced in school so they probably had good guidance and inspiration etc

Will we ever know the answer?

No, as it was the OP's own drawing and she is 42 and crying in the corner

Op was on a wind up. Its probably produced by AI...

stephaniezanoni · 30/06/2023 12:54

6-8?

yipeeyiyay · 30/06/2023 14:42

I'd say junior school so sometime before 10/11. Perhaps 8/9?

ChekhovsMum · 30/06/2023 14:53

Whatever you do, please don’t give your child the impression that art, or whatever, is ‘good’ or ‘not good’. If they think it’s ‘good’ now, you risk them thinking there’s nothing they can do to develop, or that the next thing and the next thing they produce has to be ‘good’ or they fall off their pedestal. And anyway - ‘good’ in comparison to what? Other kids their age? Why does that matter?

AlfietheSchnauzer · 30/06/2023 14:54

8/9

My 52 month old drew this yesterday so I’m thinking the OP’s artist is a bit younger…..?

52 months?!?! There's no way a 4yr old drew that!

@BodegaSushi

Oooh salty. Wink Projecting much??? Many 5-6 year olds I know could do this. We obviously move in different circles dear. Smile

🙄🙄

I think people who are saying 6 or 7 haven't looked at a 6 or 7 year old's drawings recently!

While I think DS is quite talented (posted his drawing earlier), I haven't considered DD that special, and this is what she did age 7. So I am quite surprised people are saying the original painting is good for a 10-12 yo. Maybe I need to reconsider my opinion about DDs skills.

That is amazing !!

You should! That painting is exceptional for a 7 year old!

pillsthrillsandbellyache · 30/06/2023 15:58

@KatharinaRosalie that is incredible! I would say your DD is incredibly talented. Amazing.

Have another prize for that. You're clearly looking for validation

LadyEloise1 · 07/07/2023 08:23

The OP @amiaweirdoo never came back to let us know. 🙄

Macaroni46 · 07/07/2023 17:38

@LadyEloise1
The OP not returning has irrationally annoyed me. Not sure why I'm so invested 😂
But it is bloody silly to start a thread asking a specific question and then to never return!

nonmerci99 · 07/07/2023 17:39

Definitely a child with artistic potential -- it's a very strong representation.
