Trying to work out if it is good or not. Does this look like a child that has artistic potential and how old would you expect the child that drew that to be?

I expect the OP will come back and say sorry for the delay but she was painting her next masterpiece.

To ask what age you think drew this picture?

Is the word 'child' missing from the question?

It's all about context.
Did someone tell them to 'Draw Queen Victoria' or did they copy the picture that was already in a book?

SoftSheen · 29/06/2023 22:31

Around age 8-10. It's nice.

Some of the guesses are hilarious, as if a 5-6 year old could have produced this 😆 my nearly 5yo DS can only manage amoeba people and strange, blob-like shapes that are apparently meant to be moles (the animal.) I've taught one seven year old who could have managed it but she was exceptional, I'm guessing 8+. I don't think it matters anyway- it's a lovely picture and hopefully it gave them enjoyment to create it.

I never understand this kind of post/response/attitude. Just because YOUR 5-6 year old can only manage an 'amoeba type blob' at that age, that doesn't mean other children of 5-6 are not able to produce something more elaborate. Some children are just more talented and gifted than others.

People who are snarky about other peoples children being more clever, advanced, academic, talented, and gifted than theirs, are so irksome. The projection (from some posters on here) is hilarious. Clearly miffed and butthurt that other peoples children are more advanced and talented than theirs.

I know a number of children who could have produced the picture in the OP at 6. Including my own. As I said, just because YOUR children couldn't do it, that doesn't mean other peoples children can't. Such a narrow-minded attitude. Wink

Uurrjb · 29/06/2023 22:36

Nice style I would put about 6yrs

Thoughtful2355 · 29/06/2023 22:42

Id also say 7-9 as the facial features arnt done well, its obviously young child drawing, still good for a young child but not great. They have attached the nose line to the eyebrows which is something Young new to art people tend to do to make it easier to draw a nose. the mouth is wonky as well as the face and the eyes or different shape and size completely. Also theyre lines are very wonky.

Its a lovely Drawing but that of a new drawer

MOST 5 year olds wouldn’t be able to do this. And I don’t have children so no skin in the game, but I work in childcare. Most 5 year olds are working on pencil grip and forming basic shapes and trying to write.

No idea why you’ve taken the above comment so personally, then again it did allow you to let everyone know that YOUR child is above the average. Gold star.

YerAWizardHarry · 29/06/2023 22:45

My colleague recently got married and her class were tasked with drawing her with her new husband on their wedding day for a wee booklet. They’re coming to the end of Primary 1 so 5/6. This is SIGNIFICANTLY better than any of them produced

PurpleButterflyWings · 29/06/2023 22:46

@BodegaSushi

Oooh salty. Wink Projecting much??? Many 5-6 year olds I know could do this. We obviously move in different circles dear. Smile

What is "good"
What is "age"
What is "art"

Obsessed with this

Coka · 29/06/2023 22:50

Id say 6-7. Nice picture. Im intrigued now so please share how old. I think it shows artistic ability whatever the age really as we are never to old to learn art.

kermitloving · 29/06/2023 22:50

10-13

Anonymouseposter · 29/06/2023 22:52

About 9.

Nooneknowswhatgoesonbehindcloseddoors · 29/06/2023 22:57

A few years ago my friend's dd was playing around with colouring pencils while I chatted with her mum. When we had a break from our chitchat we looked over at her drawing and were absolutely gobsmacked because it was nothing like her usual pin men and women and wobbly houses. She had drawn a proper 3D face. We we were so effusive in our joy at the fact that we had a genius in our midst that said 4/5 year old genius became overwhelmed and started to cry. We comforted her and pretended that what she had produced was nothing out of the ordinary. Unfortunately after that moment of stellar output she went back to drawing pin men and women and never produced an outstanding work of art ever again.

QueenMegan · 29/06/2023 23:01

My daughter did some excellent drawings at 7 to 8 then got bored
So I'd go with 7

Whippetlovely · 29/06/2023 23:03

About 9/10

Tiddlypomtiddlypom · 29/06/2023 23:05

I think the picture may have been a love token from the man in the OP’s other unattended thread…

Bunce1 · 29/06/2023 23:07

9- great artistic flare.

TheSeaDoesntKnowMyName · 29/06/2023 23:15

6,7,8,9

WinterDeWinter · 29/06/2023 23:16

I think people who are saying 6 or 7 haven't looked at a 6 or 7 year old's drawings recently!

I think it's really good. It's expressive. The colour is great, the composition is really strong. It has a sense of space.

Lesina · 29/06/2023 23:17

VerticalSausages · 29/06/2023 23:23

I’m guessing Fuck Off Years Old unless the OP comes back and gives some purpose to this thread…

Christmas202 · 29/06/2023 23:30

i would say 8. Little man painted this and he is 10.

AllyCart · 29/06/2023 23:33

I'm going to say 5.

Who knows. We will probably never know.

I think it's genius of the OP to start the thread and not come back. 😂

That was some amount of effort you put in there to get a stealth boast in! You must be exhausted! 😂

User1438423 · 29/06/2023 23:39

I think for most kids, this is about age 10 level.
