Trying to work out if it is good or not. Does this look like a child that has artistic potential and how old would you expect the child that drew that to be?

I've quirked in primary schools I'd say between 7-10

Is that allowed?

Simianwalk · 29/06/2023 23:45

Taking into account my most recent attempt at a life drawing class I would say somewhere between 45 and 49

LunaTheCat · 29/06/2023 23:52

Christmas that is just amazing!

For gawds sake just tell us. It'll be the weekend soon. 😩

Zonder · 30/06/2023 00:07

You're brave asking that on here. There's bound to be posters whose child drew like that at 3.

Oblahbla · 30/06/2023 00:10

OP where art thou?

Has anyone done an image search on the picture?

Escapetofrance · 30/06/2023 00:13

5-7 year old

baggiesmalls · 30/06/2023 00:14

Who cares .

Does the child enjoy drawing?
Yes = fab . Encourage them
No = leave them alone

Trez1510 · 30/06/2023 00:16

I'm gonna guess AI, as in both the thread and the picture were generated by AI as a mindfuck to posters on MN.

SirVixofVixHall · 30/06/2023 00:18

9/10 ish ? My drawings at that age have elements of this (I have a certain amount of ability) . There are things that suggest this might be a younger child, but also elements that are very mature, the use of colour, the hair, it is expressive.
I love it actually. Definitely a child with artistic skill and potential.

QwertyWitch · 30/06/2023 00:34

I still think it's AI. Trying to mimic a kids drawing. It has some inconsistencies which is why it's so confusing to guess the age.

TalkingSchist · 30/06/2023 00:45

My daughter is nearly 8 and is not the most artistic in her friendship group/class, I’d say she’s maybe slightly better than average at drawing but not talented or exceptional at art in any way, but she does enjoy it.

She could probably copy a picture and it come out like this. She does a lot of draw along videos though so she is pretty good at copying; but not necessarily good at drawing something off her own back.

The styling is also not how she’d draw. When she does draw something off her own back (like, if I asked her to draw a picture of a person) she would do the anime/cutesy style eyes and such. This seems common amongst her and her friends - they draw each other pictures frequently and they are all styled similarly, so I guess that’s more common at that age.

I wouldn't bother asking.....usually a does my child sound/ look talented thread is full of my 4 yr old does the same, it ok for a quick picture. Who cares. If you think your child has a talent, interest in art, then send them to extra curricular activities to improve it. Don't ask on an anonymous forum which loves to tear down parents who are proud of their kids efforts. What age do I look, is this talented for an x year old child are always gleefully pulled down, or over exaggerated with praise!!! Ask your kids teachers and keep it in the realms of real life......

Lonelycats · 30/06/2023 01:37

6-7 years. My children would create a few amazing pieces which earned them a spot in the royal academy young artists shoes and then move on to produce absolutely rubbish so the odd lovely piece means nothing in my opinion. I have no idea what a promising child artist would create? Probably consistent levels of outstanding work?

Lonelycats · 30/06/2023 01:37

Shows not shoes…

LaddieCthulu · 30/06/2023 02:00

Well, I think Tracey Emin is 60….

So i'd say about 63.

@BodegaSushi

Oooh salty. Wink Projecting much??? Many 5-6 year olds I know could do this. We obviously move in different circles dear. Smile

What an insufferable snob you sound like 🤣 How embarrassing that you think being so condescending is something to aspire to. You certainly do move in different circles.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 30/06/2023 02:59

@amiaweirdoo are you going to actually come back and show your hand?

marshmallowfinder · 30/06/2023 03:30

It's an adult pretending to draw like a child. Wind up post I reckon. 🙄

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 30/06/2023 03:34

Very possibly, but I'm just getting so titsed off with people posting, then getting many responses, often reasoned and considered ones, and them never coming back! Just making a point really! Yes, I'm vair bored and can't sleep! Grin

sykadelic · 30/06/2023 03:42

My 6 yo is gifted artistically and it would drive him mad that the eyes are different sizes, and that the colouring is outside the lines. However, i cant say hed think about pink cheeks so that's a level of attention to detail he doesn't show.

That said, what do you want from this post? Are you trying to determine if your child is gifted, or behind for their age? And if either of those, is there a reason?

Depending on your posts intent, we can try and offer advice one way or the other.
