Cook smoking at takeaway?

girlfriend44 · 26/06/2023 18:16

The person who owns and runs a takeaway near me is always smoking!
He smokes outside before starting the Cooking and sometimes in the evening between customers?
Would this give you the Ick and is it allowed?
Can you smoke and Cook for the Public?

Don't you understand food hygiene, your hands are meant to be clean.

Well, as long as he washes his hands when he has finished his cigarette, @girlfriend44, his hands will be clean.

It bothers me much more when waiting/serving staff who handle money also help with small bits of food prep such as dishing out salad or bagging up chips. Money is rotten and filthy.

I worked in care all through covid and managed not to catch it. I did one half a shift in my mate's shop as favour two weeks after leaving my care job and came down with covid. I blamed the money. I'm always ill with something after working in her shop.

Well.I would hope any chef would wash their hands before preparing food ,their hands could have been anywhere.

True, I suspect the cooks employ people to hold their penis/wipe their vaginas when they take a piss mid shift.

Or...no...wait.

Maybe they wash their hands? 🙄

FuckOffTom · 26/06/2023 18:56

What? Smoking outside on his break? Whatever next? Alert the elders!

I once farted and made a sandwich. It was wild.

Is that a real job? Chef penis wiper?

Bearpawk · 26/06/2023 18:57

@girlfriend44 by your logic chefs would never be able to wipe their arses or even visit the bathroom, good luck with that.

Lots of chefs smoke and they will wash their hands after a fag.

Don’t use it then…

it’s really quite simple.

Stop using the term “ick” it’s stupid.

keyboardkat · 26/06/2023 18:59

I think OP needs to stay away from the takeaways pronto. Did you inspect the floor for mice droppings, or the cooker for grease also?

Get on the clean eating diet today you heathen. 😂

UnfinishedUserna · 26/06/2023 18:59

Yes I think so.

If I remember rightly the role was created to stop them wiping it on their aprons.

keyboardkat · 26/06/2023 19:00

Mad thread Ted.

Don’t you understand that smoking doesn’t make your hands dirty?

scratching your arse might though, have you checked them for that?

Is he a cook or a chef?

On another thread op started, they did have a bit of an obsession with takeaway driver insurance. Thought I recognised the username.

they wash their hands?
don’t smoke over the food?
(Coming from a non smoker)

whatsinanameeh · 26/06/2023 19:04

Is all about standards really and expectations

When I worked for catering companies like Sodexo it was absolutely not allowed to smoke in your work uniform and you had to do it on your break in your own clothes and then wash up and change again

Of course this never fucking happened and everyone just went out the back when not on a break (don't get me started on how non-smokers get shafted with this)

However when working in a restaurant it was absolutely common place to smoke in your whites while out of eyesight of customers, just obviously wash your hands when you come back in

Don't forget that in small kitchens we are also cleaning in the same whites we are cooking in so it comes down to the expectation that we keep cross contamination minimal and our cells clean and the actual standards of the shift themselves and How closely they abide by hygiene practices

Dunnoburt · 26/06/2023 19:05

Everyone wipes their arse.....its the "walkers" not washing hands I'd be more worried about than the smokers

whatsinanameeh · 26/06/2023 19:05

OURSELVES clean not our cells

Never been in the jail, honest
