To ask for your best side hustles?

Sidehustelesplea · 26/06/2023 16:19

I’m 21 and working 40 hours per week in hospitality. As you can imagine this isn’t exactly bringing in mega money. I live in a flat-share and the bank of mum and dad is shut. Overall I’m just about covering my expenses but I want to make a bit of extra money on the side. So Aibu to ask for your side hustles, second job ideas, ways of making money online etc?

I've got the option to do a 4 week temp cleaning job in the eves (on top of FT job). It's local, 3 hours a night weekdays. I will get paid £500 for the 4 weeks.

Thoughts ? I don't want to do it but I do want the money

Are you under or over 25yrs old? If over 25yrs old then this works out as way under minimum wage which is illegal. It works out at £8.33/hr for the hours you've said, so you need to check the government website to see if that is legal for your age or not.

Outplayed is the best site for starting out, they have step by step tutorials.
You need about £100 to start out, ideally a separate bank account, and photo ID.

Unfortunately it’s not the big money maker it use to be, but you should earn about £1000/2000 with sign ups and initial offers.

It’s not for everyone, if you make a mistake you can lose money. Take it very slow to start.

chupachucks · 30/06/2023 15:42

Plenty of people have said match betting, but please be aware a lot of the Betting places are more than aware of this and know it looses them income.

There are quite a few who if they identify what you are doing they will often make it almost impossible to claim your winnings.

There are quite a few who will bombard you with requests for proof of identify, funding sources and pretty much keep either refusing it or putting you off or in certain circumstances refuse to pay out full stop.

It is not 100% proof and you can loose out.

Anyone know of anyway you can get money from occasional bits of freelance writing? Thanks

One good thing about hospitality is that, because there’s a shortage of staff, you can move up levels and/or move to more lucrative roles that tip better. Can you upskill in barista/bar tending/cocktail making/hygiene certification?

Hospitality workers are often highly skilled in dealing with customers, have good agility to move into other areas.

Generally, digital skills will open opportunities - does the business you work for run its own social media, or can you make yourself useful there?

Id recommend Amazon flex if there’s a warehouse in your area. I’m 25 and went full time to uni this year, have a family and a flat to pay for so student loan is stretched!! So I use it to pick up extra money, use my own car etc, around uni and an agency job. I find if I pick up 3 a week one covers my fuel and I’ll take home about £100 extra for about 9 hours of work. They also pay weekly which helps and it’s really easy to sign up and you can pick up/cancel blocks with very little notice. Did also try Evri but their pay rates for flex are pretty poor unless on Sundays and I preferred picking up odd evenings at my convenience to having to book in set days weeks in advance

Don you have to get business insurance for your car?

ifandbutwhynot · 01/07/2023 15:06

You have to have commercial although I’ve never actually been asked for proof of mine! But they have an agreement with a company that you can use kind of pay as you go, think my hourly rate for a civic was about 50p

If you have an accident you might have your insurance invalidated though. I looked into Amazon flex and decided it wasn't lucrative with the insurance issue.

But the problem with hospitality, is that even if you level/skill up, you still get paid abysmal rates of pay...don't get me started on employers not passing on tips paid via credit card! I've spent many years in the hospitality industry and many hotels don't even pay you above minimum wage for doing duty manager shifts. It really is one of the shittest industries there is, which is why they can't retain staff.

im being truthful here not sarcastic or a arsey response and im a genuine member not a troll or kids pretending for a laugh

i dont "work" as such im a carer-lone parent to 2 disabled kids,
we also home educate so kids are never away from me so i cant work

between the 3 of us we get a lot per month,
high dla each, carers allowance, UC and all the elements etc
but i do a side hustle that no one that knows me/family knows about

i sell feet pictures on feet finder, i get anything from £25-100 per picture
ive never been on only fans
im a 6ft female with size 12 (adult) feet, i also have 36 inch legs

ive been doing it about 2 and half years when i read a article in a woman's magazine about it and she was only a size 9 and said how much men love big feet so as mine was bigger i thought i would give it a go

it took off from pic 1

some private message and ask for feet and legs(ive never shown anything from thighs up).
3 days ago i made £95 from a private request for dirty feet,
i literally just had wet feet and stomped about in my local field and took a pic by the stream.(its on my doorstep as i live between 2 forests and mountains)
i always get money up front

i only do new pictures 3-5 times a month and each picture put on the site gets money per view or download.

as im rare(that's genuinely my feet size) i make a lot per month
there's loads out there with fetishes

I have been doing matched betting for the last 6 months or so via Oddsmonkey. It isn't gambling. I have made just under 1k in this time, but some people make silly money doing it. The instructions are super, super easy and you can easily try it out and make £30 with their freebie demo. Loads of support too via a community. https://www.oddsmonkey.com/affiliates/affiliate.php?id=65892

How do you keep it going when all the signup offers run out?

there are lots of 'reloads' i.e offers that the bookies send to you once you are signed up and Odds monkey have loads of other clever tools to do casino sign ups, horse racing matching, something called 'extra places and '2ups'. I think the free trial gives you an overview of all the extra tools and guides and they have a 'journey to matched betting mastery' so you know in which order to tackle all the new tools.

Singasongaday · 03/07/2023 16:22

Buying from car boots and re selling on vinted and eBay has worked well for me. There are loads of tik toks about it to get you started if you want to have a go.

I’ve been too scared to do anything other than the traditional (vanilla? Grin) stuff. Even accas scare me. I really must sit down one day and familiarise myself with the casino and reload offers. I think outplayed and oddsmonkey are £20 per month aren’t they? I wasn’t sure if it was worth it. How much do you make a month on average?

FireflyJar · 09/07/2023 09:24

TokyoStories · 29/06/2023 20:45

I’m the opposite - a matched better but haven’t been bothered to learn how to do the casino. Tempted now! Did you use outplayed?

@TokyoStories is outplayed worth joining?

It’s definitely worth signing up to the free trial. It’s best to sign up when you know you have spare time on seven consecutive days, to get the most out of it. They have Oddsmatcher which saves so much time.

A family friend bakes cakes for bake sales and cake shops etc. It’s just a passive income as she can just bake when she prefers and even does wedding cakes where she gets most of her money. It’s cash in hand so I don’t think she pays tax on it. Or maybe it’s under the tax regulations. But I know that she only accepts pick up only unless she delivers to the cake shops. She does quite well and doesn’t even operate on Instagram, just word-of-mouth.

That's not what passive income means.
