Not sure if there's already a thread about this, I couldn't find one.
I feel like I should be totally horrified that this disgusting excuse for a man found SO MANY other rapists to join in over the years. But sadly I'm not horrified anymore.
I am really fucking angry though.

Would it be unreasonable to stay single for the rest of my life based on ALL the shit that men are doing/are capable of?
That poor poor woman 😔

Man accused of filming at least 51 men raping drugged wife over a decade

Husband says ‘none of the men who came to his house gave up going through with sexual acts on his wife given her state’

Men are FAR more likely to be rapists than they are to be raped.

Hoardasurass · 24/06/2023 10:30

@AnObserverInThisDarkWorld I hope that this will help you understand why your getting the push back you are especially when you realise that of the 12% of victims who are male most are boys under 16. The problem is men and those who choose to minimise the risk they pose to women and children

What is with the 51 in 70m / .0001% / ‘just one man’ comments? Those apply to one single case. A case that is horrifying but not particularly surprising because things like this are happening all the time.

I’d love to live in the world where .0001% of men are sexual predators. It’s not this one, though, is it?

Hardtime · 24/06/2023 10:44

I cannot imagine any circumstances in which the poor wife can move on with her life. The husband has been publicly identified - presumably to help with further leads - but this reveals who the victim is. With 51 of maybe more than a hundred perpetrators identified, literally any man that the victim knows or sees in the street could be one of her abusers.
When we switched our 'criminal justice' model from one of retribution to rehabilitation, were the public consulted in any way? It seems that many people have committed enough evil to justify taking them out of circulation forever.
Police and other public services have been gaslighting us for decades while effectively decriminalising a wide range of offences. How do we get the appropriate enforcement that we need - will any political party offer a solution?

mummymeister · 24/06/2023 11:17

the problem starts way before this. it starts with our acceptance of violent porn against women. we allow the internet to put this shit out there. so young boys watch it, really young, and think its ok and become desensitised to it. then when they do try something on with a girl, the girl herself minimises it, you see it on here on mumsnet all the time. women saying oh well he only hit me the once or well he sort of pushes me around but he is a great guy and father. We as women minimise and accept this shit. we are 51% of the population and yet still this happens because the penalties are just so incredibly piss poor and the policing of it by the internet companies and the authorities is also piss poor. when I was in my 20's I thought this would be all gone by the time I got to the age I am now. Instead it is far far worse. Every one of the men who accessed this video should be jailed for a long time. there has to be deterrents or its just going to carry on.

CurlewKate · 24/06/2023 11:23

The problem is that while obviously not all men, or even many men rape, practically all men, knowingly or unknowingly, collude in the culture that makes it possible.

90 out of billions but you continue to be fearful of half of the human race if you wish but don't undermine and ridicule fellow that Woman than believe namalt because it's a fact

Why insist in NAMALT when we are talking about rapist's? If you are not a rapist then you are not part of the group being discussed.

It's also not 90 men out of billions is it? Rape Crisis estimate there are approx 400,000 rapes each year in the UK alone. That's either 400,000 men or a smaller number of prolific rapists, either way, significantly more than 90. Approximately 70,000 of those rapes will be reported to the police. In the year 2021/22 about 2500 of those cases were prosecuted which resulted in a 68% conviction rate, approx 1700 convictions for an estimated 400,000 rapes or 70,000 reported rapes.

Why must women take responsibility for protecting men's feelings by acknowledging not all men are rapists? Anyone insisting on a token NAMALT before women can have a discussion about male violence is part of the problem.

Objecting to demands for the NAMALT qualifier does not equate to being fearful of half the human race, it means I'm pissed off with centering men in a discussion about women who have been harmed by men.

Nussbaum · 24/06/2023 11:32

Something doesn't add up.

Starseeking · 24/06/2023 11:43

That poor poor woman. I hope she has significant support to help her recover from this horrific violation.

I know exactly what you mean wanting to keep away from men. While NAMALT, few men actively and vociferously challenge misogyny and hard core porn/deviancy that allows this sort of culture to exist.

unsync · 24/06/2023 11:50

Sadly, it is a far from isolated case in France. If you think English men can be arrogant, they are amateurs alongside French men. The stereotype is by and large true and they do see women as objects to be possessed. I see it every single day. Equality has a long way to go here and let's not even start on the role of the Catholic Church in this.

Loverofoxbowlakes · 24/06/2023 11:53

It's always interesting when talking about women, someone always chimes in with what about men, they're raped too... yes they are and I bet the majority of men are raped by men!!

100% of anyone who is raped is raped BY A MAN.

BeachBlondey · 24/06/2023 11:54

Not the point of the thread at all, but I've read things like this before and always wonder how alarm bells weren't ringing for the woman. You'd feel so ill from the drugs, and you would surely know that you'd had sex, by how you felt down below the next day. I'm not victim blaming, just pondering how men actually get away with this.

Igmum · 24/06/2023 11:59

That poor woman and those utterly evil men.

Newbutoldfather · 24/06/2023 12:02

@Loverofoxbowlakes ,

’100% of anyone raped is raped by a man’.

That is definitional (as I suspect you know).

I am not disputing that rape/sexual assaults are mainly committed by men, but women (natal women) have been involved in horrific sexual assaults, including against children. Rare, but not unheard of.

And, these are v underreported. V few men (or children) are prepared to report the crime.

Horrific crimes are awful and, yes, mainly committed by men. But the vast majority of men are not criminals. That is also a fact.

missmollygreen · 24/06/2023 12:02

chemistnightmare · 24/06/2023 08:38

@AnObserverInThisDarkWorld

But rape isn't something that doesn't happen to men and its harmful to pretend it doesn't.

It's bullshit to suggest it does.

Also, why. On a thread about almost 100 men raping the same woman, are you even talking about assault against men.

Read. The. Room.

If you want to talk about how men can be sexually assaulted, perhaps make your own throws because this thread deserves more respect, for the woman who was raped.

You mean read the echo chamber?

chemistnightmare · 24/06/2023 12:08

@missmollygreen

You mean read the echo chamber?

I mean it's distasteful to start banging on about poor men on a thread about one woman's horrific experience at the hands of almost 100 men.

ButImNotOldEnough · 24/06/2023 12:15

The majority of men would commit rape given the chance. It’s a sad state of affairs but really men are under evolved and unable to leave the caveman era.

That's very disingenuous of you. Your implication is clear but women are in no way a danger to men, women or children in the same way or rate as men (clearly shown in the hand visual aid I've added). So how about we deal with the majority of sex offenders 1st (ie the males) and then deal with the miniscule number of female perpetrators

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 24/06/2023 12:36

FAR Too Many Men Are Like That

daretodenim · 24/06/2023 12:38

The majority of females convicted of sexual crimes (that's of the 1% they're responsible for) are in some way assisting men to commit sexual crimes.

The number of women who independently/individually carry out sex crimes is a vanishing small percentage if that 1%.

And I say that as someone with a friend who was seriously sexually assaulted by his own mother during his teen years. She was a rare, and sick beast.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 24/06/2023 12:38

Can't there be a threaded sharing horror or anger at this story without posters talking of rape of men (of course , just as much a travesty but that's another thread?) or chastising us for for it?

If your only contribution to a thread like this is that that's worrying.

Women are often told by doctors it's all in their heads. In fact, so much so they never bothered testing drugs on us.

It's a good point but is guess he was a master manipulator, gas lighter, very good at covering his tracks
