Anton Gerashchenko@Gerashchenko_enPMC Wagner wonders where Putin is?

There was a special broadcast on First Channel. In addition to reading the press release from the Federal Security Service, it was reported: "Putin has been informed of all of Prigozhin's actions and the necessary measures are being taken. That's all for now, we're following the progress of events."
And so are we. And where is Putin?

Unless he wins of course.

Wins what though? I'm not altogether sure Prigozhin himself knows what he hoped to achieve.

Interesting that helicopter and fighter jet pilots don't count as bloodshed. Ever so washed under the rug.

I wonder why he gave up so soon after starting

We don't know that he's given up.

When I said "logistics issues" (and one of the senior Wagner hoods is a General from Soviet/Russian army logistics) I meant that they are, perhaps, paying heed to their supply chains and are not moving ahead too fast. It must be a huge temptation if you're on a roll and moving faster than you've planned to, to just keep going. But if your supply chains become overstretched, you could be moving in to disaster.

They could (perhaps, I'm speculating) be deliberately regrouping, consolidating and preparing themselves to move off again (possibly in the wee small hours)

(Or there might be something else they're waiting for)

(Or something might have gone wrong)

Did he really take half of Russia in a wild fit of pique?

When this broke last night I did wonder if he had taken a load of drugs and was going on the rampage. But maybe he lost someone close in that strike. His best friend or DP.🤔

Good point - a coup d'etat, but what then follows and who will rule?

Hohohogreenjennie · 24/06/2023 21:24

So he’s going to move to Belarus now?

How long do we think it will be until he meets an unfortunate accident?

I don't think anyone really knows what's actually going on but I don't think this is a good thing with a good outcome. For starters the new guy sounds more brutal than Putin. Then there is the instability of it all.

greenspaces4peace · 24/06/2023 21:27

at this point it's all looking so very staged.
and knowing both men will have had to "give" something i wonder what that will be?
in exchange for more money and supplies for the wagner group maybe putin will want more progress in ukraine.
instead of listening to politicians i should have been following the arms dealers and the flow of money.
there is little doubt there is more to this story being played out.

I don't think he will be so lucky as to get an unfortunate accident. He has completely humiliated Putin and fucked up the war effort in Ukraine.

BeginningToLookALotLike · 24/06/2023 21:55

Is he going to try and take over Belarus now?

meditrina · 24/06/2023 22:09

It makes no sense to me at all now!

booksandcats22 · 24/06/2023 22:11

Feels like missing out a chapter of a book just before the ending.

Seriously though why did he agree to the deal when it seemed he was going through Russia really quickly? Why is he allowed to escape with a deal unless he holds something on Putin? And what was Putin's side of the deal?

SunnyEgg · 24/06/2023 22:16

Really strange

It was all so ramped up this morning

HereComesMaleficent · 24/06/2023 22:24

Russia and "military might" is such an oxymoron. 😂

Couldn't invade a country
Couldn't even have a proper civil war

Russia is a military disappointment (thankfully).

Excited0803 · 25/06/2023 07:43

The Times are suggesting Shoigu is sacked. Perhaps that was really Prigozhin's price, but at this point it all just looks weird and staged. I don't get what Putin could possibly gain from this shambles to stage it though!

I have read that Russia has gone from having the second most powerful army in the world to the second most powerful army in Russia.
