Important stuff this!

DH and I disagree about what should happen to pegs on the washing line after you've taken the washing in.

DH takes all of the pegs off, every time. He claims that if you don't do this, it creates work next time you hang stuff up because you have to move the pegs out of the way.

Obviously, I just leave them up and he thinks this is bad practice. I think taking them down creates work the next time because you have to get them all out again.

So, over to you!

YANBU = Keep the pegs up
YABU = take the pegs down every time and put them in their special little peg bag.

What say you MN? 🤔

If I could train the spiders to collect them in I would put them away properly @stbrandonsboat . As it is, it always seems such a faff!

Tulipvase · 23/06/2023 21:46

I’m a leaver outer, but then again, I left my washing out the other night and it got darked on so………

wildworldtumes · 23/06/2023 21:46

I proudly leave mine on the line and I won't be taking questions at this time.

EmeraldFox · 23/06/2023 21:46

Take them down. Wooden pegs get damp and leave marks on clothing. Plastic ones go brittle and break (Australian ones don't but British ones are not designed for sunshine!). You do have to move them around creating work.

Beepbeepenergy · 23/06/2023 21:46

YABU pegs in beg bag every times… they weather when left out and spiders get in them x

CrazyBaubles · 23/06/2023 21:46

Pegs away here, every time. Leaving them out is pure madness Grin

Findyourneutralspace · 23/06/2023 21:47

Put the pegs away, you slattern!

EmeraldFox · 23/06/2023 21:47

Mine just go back in the ikea bag I use as a washing basket.

Isengard · 23/06/2023 21:48

They go in my custom, made to order peg bag, because I am that sad. 😁

DietrichandDiMaggio · 23/06/2023 21:48

What's the point of having a washing line under a porch? Surely the point is that you can hang out washing and it is dried by the sun and blown by the wind?

ChrisPPancake · 23/06/2023 21:49

I leave mine on the line because I'm a lazy fucker. Fortunately dh is too!

thelengthspeoplegoto · 23/06/2023 21:50

Pegs away in peg bag, your husband is correct...sorry!

Denise82 · 23/06/2023 21:50

I leave them on, maybe it's one of those generational things, I also don't separate my washing either and everything still looks fresh, i wash at a cooler temp so colours dont run. And i never iron 🤷‍♀️. Actually I have just got new pegs as the hot weather was fading my nice colourful pegs 😆 my 9 year old son had heard me moan about it and when he was out with dad made him buy me new pegs 😁

Wheelz46 · 23/06/2023 21:51

Another one who thinks pegs belong in a bag. Although if it helps, my neighbour leaves their pegs on the line, don't know if it causes a dispute between the couple, unless you are my neighbour OP??? 🤣

Doesn't it cause extra work, unclipping the peg from the clothes then clipping them back on again, is it not quicker to throw them in a peg bag or do you yank your clothes from the pegs? Might have to spy what my neighbour does when bringing in their clothes 🧐😅

GoodHotSoup · 23/06/2023 21:51

Applebyapples · 23/06/2023 21:06

My 86 year old grandmother is horrified if she sees pegs left on a washing line, she calls it "slovenly" 😆

My mum is the same. I think there’s a generation for whom pegs on the line is only a step away from a mattress in the front garden 😭

EightMonthsScared · 23/06/2023 21:51

That's really impressive - I need to know the back story as to how this became a necessary thing for you to order.

I can open all the doors up so it gets a breeze and it has a glass roof. Gets unbelievably hot. My washing dries in about a second.

Put the pegs away. If they’re already on the line, they’re invariably in the wrong place and prolong the process of pegging out the fresh washing.

Diversion · 23/06/2023 21:52

Put the pegs away, plastic pegs go brittle in the sun and the wooden ones go manky and leave nasty marks on your clean clothes. I dont like peg bags either, pegs go in a plastic tub with a lid on.

EightMonthsScared · 23/06/2023 21:53

I'm now having an internal debate as to whether spiders have willies or not.

Part of me thinks not, definitely not.

Another part of me thinks they must do, or how would they reproduce.

I'm so not googling it.

Zonder · 23/06/2023 21:54

I was on the side of you. But then all my pegs went brittle and snapped. Now I'm with your DH.

ApolloandDaphne · 23/06/2023 21:55

Pegs away always.

closeyourpapers · 23/06/2023 21:55

I think we also need to know if the OP would leave drawing pins in a noticeboard 'ready for next time' if she took down an out of date notice. The pegs sound just a gateway offence frankly.

wildworldtumes · 23/06/2023 21:56

I'm laughing at the peg-bag folk who think I waste time unclipping the pegs when I hang out new stuff.

Just slide the fuckers across into a bunch to create whatever t shirt/trouser/sock shaped gap I need.

So much to learn..

Sun and wind still gets to it. I had an undercover one at one house. It was great when things took days to dry on a rack inside without heating but there were potential showers.

Swansandcustard · 23/06/2023 21:58

Apart from rusting of the metal bits, pegs out all the time is SLATTERNLY!
