Important stuff this!

DH and I disagree about what should happen to pegs on the washing line after you've taken the washing in.

DH takes all of the pegs off, every time. He claims that if you don't do this, it creates work next time you hang stuff up because you have to move the pegs out of the way.

Obviously, I just leave them up and he thinks this is bad practice. I think taking them down creates work the next time because you have to get them all out again.

So, over to you!

YANBU = Keep the pegs up
YABU = take the pegs down every time and put them in their special little peg bag.

What say you MN? 🤔

@EightMonthsScared OP I leave them on the line, but I am aware that I am being lazy and am in the minority.

I'm also aware that they will get wet and snap at some point. I still do it.

Agree with a pp's gran that I am probably slovenly Blush

This falls in the same cateogory as a 'dirty wash'

which is when your whites have mixed with colours

i am always on the lookout for a neighbours dirty wash 😂

Put the pegs away, you slattern!

😂

Guilty as charged! 😄

I leave them on, maybe it's one of those generational things, I also don't separate my washing either and everything still looks fresh, i wash at a cooler temp so colours dont run. And i never iron 🤷‍♀️. Actually I have just got new pegs as the hot weather was fading my nice colourful pegs 😆 my 9 year old son had heard me moan about it and when he was out with dad made him buy me new pegs 😁

Wha- ? 😮

Are you me?

<checks line - it's full of faded pegs - not a single bright tiny shiney new one>

Oh - seems not. There are two of us!

My mum is the same. I think there’s a generation for whom pegs on the line is only a step away from a mattress in the front garden 😭

I hope you donkey-stone your front step, then. Like I don't do.

I'm now having an internal debate as to whether spiders have willies or not.

Part of me thinks not, definitely not.

Another part of me thinks they must do, or how would they reproduce.

I'm so not googling it.

Wouldn't surprise me to learn that there is a whole dark web (see what I did there? 😂) of spider porn.

LyndaSnellsSniff · 23/06/2023 21:58

Good Lord. ALWAYS bring them in. Next you'll be saying you don't colour match your pegs to the clothing you are hanging out to dry.

Shudder.

FFS!

There are LIMITS! 😠

Seddon · 27/06/2023 07:37

I can confirm Ikea pegs last years and years despite being left on the line 24/7 in a hot climate. Do does the Socktopus. Their opening is big enough that they can just be slid to one end of the line if you need to move them to hang something large.

CoffeeLover90 · 23/06/2023 22:11

I don't because cob webs appear overnight. Cob webs mean spiders. Also yes, they get ruined by the sun but mostly spiders.

Also re your wondering if spiders have willies, I wished I hadn't googled but I did..
Unlike insects and other organisms, male spiders do have a penis. The testes are located on the underneath of the abdomen, and connect to the surface via a small tube. The male spins a small mat of silk and deposits a 'packet' of sperm from the testes onto the silk mat

Thanks for that, you pervert!

You could have put a WARNING on!

Now I can't get this image of arachnid anatomy out of my mind. 😬

I know that! But I've never found a street that bears the village's name ...

Surely no Proud Northern Town would name a street from somewhere down south? 😮

*tiny spider homes

Then they lay their eggs in the gusset of your knickers.

<frantically checks smalls>

FranziskaSchmidt · 27/06/2023 07:50

You have to unpeg each item anyway. Can't see it is any harder to drop them in a bag for next time vs them being in the way on the line for next time.

SBAM · 24/06/2023 07:02

Thanks to @Mexicansky and @JohnnyYenSetHimselfOnFireAgain for the peg-matching solidarity. I don’t match the peg colour to the washing though like PP, you are truly one to aspire to!

My pegs live in a big tub rather than a peg bag because I have loads, and also have a Socktopus who lives in the tub.

I have two of these and can thoroughly recommend them. They can also hang outside in good weather, but are not left out overnight in case they interbreed with the spiders, producing a giant super-intelligent spider that rubs its willie against the windows like The Dumb Prince Of Canada in the famous South Park episode.
