To think this lady was rude

We are at the seaside and I took my DD4 to a little place with pond and ducks, a few animals like rabbits and goats and a cafe so I presumed kid friendly but I felt we were not welcome. My Dd wanted an ice cream so asked for which one she wanted and said please and as the lady was making it she said ‘I want my chocolate ice cream please’ and the lady almost shouted saying ‘I’m making it CHILD’ but not in a jokey way and then she grimaced at us. I asked which way the animals were as it didn’t say and she was very snappy

Years ago when I was little my parents took me to Blackpool for the day. I was taking ages to decide what stick of rock to buy as the queue built up.
The owner told me to fuck off!

I shouldn’t laugh because the owner was terribly rude but that did make me laugh. I did a pix n’ mix stall at a school event last week and OMG I was losing the will to live after an hour with all the choosing going on. I’d have happily told people to fuck off 😂. In the end I threw caution to the wind, make up mixed bags and made it a take what you get stall.

Weird that 4 year olds are now expected to be as 'proper' as 14 year olds but 14 year olds get treated like children.

Can't believe anyone would find it offensive to hear a 4 year old nicely ask once more for their ice-cream unless they clearly demanded it with an angry tone.

Says more about the adult than the child and the mum who obviously corrected the child's faux pas immediately.

Your child seems quite forward for her age as well; mine would never have prompted someone in that way.

Are you saying your children are superior?

Thank you! I have been quite taken aback by the responses here basically criticising a 4yo child! It's insane.

FluffyFlannery · 21/06/2023 17:15

Op, the female was utterly rude and I would not have been able to hold back if it had happened to me. These bullies count on the fact most people are too polite to say anything. I don't suffer the problem of civility in cases like this.

Sorry but this made me LOL 😂😂

The older I get the more I realise that a lot of people should never work in a customer facing role. I do wonder why they bother applying for those sort of posts if they dislike people so much.

PuppyMonkey · 21/06/2023 17:25

What kind of knob end gets arsey with a four year old child? Grin

Not2n8Josephine · 21/06/2023 17:26

She's only 4, too harsh to snap at her. Yes she was rude.

Mylifeislikeaboatrace · 21/06/2023 17:27

She was rude but so was your 4 year old saying I want.

WimpoleHat · 21/06/2023 17:29

Your DD was rude. Not egregiously and in a way that a lot of small kids often are at that age. But the woman had probably had enough by that point in the day and hence you got a snippy response. I would t worry about it though!

Blossomtoes · 21/06/2023 17:31

Malarandras · 21/06/2023 16:20

She was rude and unprofessional. Some people are not very good at their jobs though.

😂 Since when has selling ice cream been a profession? Ridiculous comment.

ActDottie · 21/06/2023 17:31

Your daughter said please but “I want” is pretty rude. The lady didn’t handle it well but your daughter was rude and impatient.

ChangeIsInevitable · 21/06/2023 17:31

She said the woman had only opened an hour earlier. I'd hate to see how she was by the end of the day.

To add, some people dislike children and would find anything they do annoying.

It’s almost like the four year old was ONLY FOUR YEARS OLD or something.

She’s not cut out to be in a customer facing role.

She really isn't!

KarmaStar · 21/06/2023 17:33

And?what do you want from this exactly.non event for goodness sake.

I work with the public and if a child said “I want” I would blank them.

Bit harsh

YeahIsaidit · 21/06/2023 17:38

The woman was quite snippy but it is really bloody annoying to get "I want" when you're already sorting the wanted thing. She'd already asked for it, yeah she's only 4 but she was rude and impatient too

UnshakenNeedsStirring · 21/06/2023 17:39

PuppyMonkey · 21/06/2023 17:25

So many here saying the poor kid was wrong for saying I want. They perhaps wanted the poor kid to beg for an icecream? Weird

It’s professional if you’re getting paid. Not my fault if you don’t know what professional means.

PuppyMonkey · 21/06/2023 17:42

“Blank them”.Grin

Yeah that’ll teach the rude little preschool arsehole.Grin

She was rude. Some people just are.

This

bellylaughter · 21/06/2023 17:47

She's 4! She's learning about boundaries. She has learned a new social skill today. Some people are just rude.
