To think this lady was rude

We are at the seaside and I took my DD4 to a little place with pond and ducks, a few animals like rabbits and goats and a cafe so I presumed kid friendly but I felt we were not welcome. My Dd wanted an ice cream so asked for which one she wanted and said please and as the lady was making it she said ‘I want my chocolate ice cream please’ and the lady almost shouted saying ‘I’m making it CHILD’ but not in a jokey way and then she grimaced at us. I asked which way the animals were as it didn’t say and she was very snappy

Thank you for comments. I did tell DD to be patient and let her know it was being made. she couldn’t see the lady properly from where she was stood so didn’t see her making her ice cream but just said she wanted it please. Looking at reviews of the place a lot of people have said some staff members unwelcoming

You’re taking this far too personal.

Denise82 · 21/06/2023 16:25

Yes, she was rude.

ButterCrackers · 21/06/2023 16:27

Not customer friendly at all. She could have made a joke and said is this your ice cream or is it for your mum? Something light hearted. Your daughter asking again is fine because she’s a kid and probably feeling grown up to be asking for her ice-cream.

strawberrywhisk · 21/06/2023 16:27

I understand why you didn't like it and that it spoilt the moment in an otherwise nice day, I really wouldn't dwell on it and take it too heart, at least your daughter didn't know

Just don't go there again if it bothers you that much. I think you need to move on. Do you always let insignificant things like this bother you?

BadMotorhomeParent · 21/06/2023 16:30

Your child seems quite forward for her age as well; mine would never have prompted someone in that way.

Littleroseseverywhere · 21/06/2023 16:31

I’d not feel unwelcome over it, I mean it was an ice cream place for kids . She may have been having a bad day, and as you said, your daughter had already been told it was being made, it only takes a couple of mins so not like she’d been waiting a long time since you told her.

sometimes we all have bad days.

Mine as well!

My mother would have scolded me if I spoke to an adult like that.

Geo42 · 21/06/2023 16:32

There is no excuse for behaviour like that, but there may be reason. Best to avoid that place in future, very obviously not child friendly!

Isthisexpected · 21/06/2023 16:33

Don't understand from your OP whether it was you or your child who repeated the request?

"Don't understand from your OP whether it was you or your child who repeated the request?"

It's pretty obvious:

My Dd wanted an ice cream so asked for which one she wanted and said please and as the lady was making it she said ‘I want my chocolate ice cream please’

Reehhahh · 21/06/2023 16:37

@Isthisexpected yes it was my Dd

She is very chatty and loves to speak to people when we are out and about. She didn’t ask it in a ‘demanding’ kind of way, she was just excited I think and enjoyed making the order and handing over the money, I did correct her

I do over think things and dwell on interactions , always have

She was rude but this really doesn't warrant a second thought.

Elderflower14 · 21/06/2023 16:44

Trip Advisor is your friend in these situations!!

Tofuislovely · 21/06/2023 16:47

If you were the woman working though OP, what would you have said? I'd have been a bit pissed off at your DD tbh (although probably wouldn't have said anything but I can understand why this woman did).

Isthisexpected · 21/06/2023 16:47

I think she was really rude then. Your daughter is learning how to socialise.

Oh please, she’s a 4 year old excited for an ice cream 🙄

Did you never get over excited about something when you were a kid?

I don’t see that she did much wrong, nobody’s perfect, especially when you’re little and still learning.

Agree. I would have never been allowed to speak to an adult like that, 'please' does not make it better

Years ago when I was little my parents took me to Blackpool for the day. I was taking ages to decide what stick of rock to buy as the queue built up.
The owner told me to fuck off!

😱🤣😂🤣🤣

@GeorgeMichaelsCat reminds me of The Inbetweeners when Will tells Neil's Dad to " piss off please " 😂

BlockbusterVideoCard · 21/06/2023 16:56

Yes, rude. So what?

SeaSaltAir · 21/06/2023 16:59

She’s not cut out to be in a customer facing role.

Arewehumanorarewecupboards · 21/06/2023 16:59

I don’t think that your little one was rude in saying, ‘I want my ice cream please’. It’s polite and she’s 4!

The lady was rude!
