I was 22 having my first and will be 37 having my last. Just wanted to see is 37 a common age for having your last baby. I never dreamt I'd be pregnant at 37 . I always thought that it was a bit old. Now I'm scared that I'm just being selfish and could have a baby with lots of issues.

Still trying for no.1 at 41, so 41 plus!

OhmygodDont · 18/06/2023 16:11

First at 17, last at 24.

Ok we don’t own our house but we rent securely off family a property with land that has no mortgage. We both work, me from home and him full time. We also own our own company and married to fill that persons wish list.

Hotandverybothered · 18/06/2023 16:15

I was 37 when I had my last . Definitely more tiring than when I had my 1st at 29 .

Beezknees · 18/06/2023 16:15
  1. My first and last. I'm 33 so I could have more if I wanted, but I don't want to.

Not arsed what anyone thinks, it wasn't an ideal time to have a baby but am I supposed to flog and punish myself forever. DS seems to be doing alright and we have a happy life.

I was 37. I personally think having a baby at 22 is more selfish as how on earth would you have a degree, a decent career going, bought a property and had a couple of years just being a married couple by that age? All of which I'd done by 35 when I had my first. Oh and they're both sensational kids!

I was 19 when I had my only child. I have a masters and own my home.

oh and he is a sensational 25yr old man.

Pusillanimouswitch · 18/06/2023 16:20

I was 27 for my first, 30 for second and last. My younger son is in a mixed age sports club and I am one of the younger mums with teenagers - lots of mums are my age but with much younger children if that makes sense. So you’re not unusual.

TidyHomeTidyMind · 18/06/2023 16:35

23 for the first, 26 with my last.
I am a homeowner and no benefits where required during the raising of my children, thought I would make that clear for @TheSnootiestFox .
My friend was around 37 when she had her last one, she seems to be doing well and is perfectly happy with her choice, as I am with mine.

TheSnootiestFox · 18/06/2023 16:42

I'm going now because I'm sick to death of the downright abuse im getting, ive been called a knob and a cow but apparently thats ok!🤣

I said I had sensational kids because the OP said that kids born to older mothers were likely to have issues. For the last time, the OP was being rude about older mums, and my post was in response to that! As usual everyone has read what they want to and not what was actually written in the context that it was meant!

It's not ok to look down on other people "in response" to what OP said. Not everyone will own homes or get a degree no matter what age they have children! That doesn't make someone a bad parent.

Ketzele · 18/06/2023 16:47

41, but then adopted at 46.

Your post is offensive to older mothers

How so?

It's factual that the older you get, your risk of complications get bigger.

It's not offensive at all. If you decide to have a baby in your 40s you are deciding to do so with the higher risks of birth abnormalities or genetic conditions, preeclampsia, GD etc.

There is literally nothing to be offended about.

The antenatal class we attended was all mid to late 30s (me probably being the oldest at 40, I think).

There was one 27/29 yr old, I can't remember which. She and her partner seemed v young.

Early 40s risks are not that bad.

They tend to be one exaggerated in people's minds in the same way that fertility post 35 is hysterically (pun intended) portrayed as a cliff, which it is not.

It's not OK to infer all kids born to older parents will have special needs either!

Silly post. OP knows full well that many women have babies at that age and way older for many, many reasons

Sussexcricket · 18/06/2023 18:47

I am done at 2. I'm almost 30 now and don't want to go back to babies 😆😁
