I've been on Mumsnet for around 10 years now, I have read some crazy threads.

I'm lying in bed hungover and looking for some stories to brighten up my shameful Saturday afternoon.

If anyone wants to share it would be greatly appreciated Grin

In classics somewhere, the Mexican house thief. I spent a very long time laughing at that one.
Plus the garden pagoda? Shed? Summer house? And the Korean lady?

God sorry my memory is shit.

Don't worry about it, @DarrellRiversCriminalBehaviourOrder , it's actually quite a nice idea, and I've seen it in Islamic homes. I think the shoes off, flooring and carpeting does seem to attract somewhat extreme responses. I've no idea why.

Thank you.

But actually, I've just realised it can't be me that that poster is remembering, if the thread was at least ten years ago. I've not been on MN that long, nor had the slippers that long.

I only really remember it because I was so surprised that someone found it so bizarre that they had to swear at me to express how much they disliked it. Not just a weirdo, but a fucking weirdo! It didn't hurt my feelings - I've been called a cunt on here for even smaller things - but it just surprised me.

The one where the woman was aghast that her husband came in from outside and lay on their bed covers without taking off his clothes - clothes that had been outside and must have been seething with germs!

that was a massive eye opener for me. Some people are insane.

Tbf this grosses me out too. Maybe not on top of the covers but under them, ew!

jellycakeandicecream · 17/06/2023 18:52

The OP Hooted like an owl at her colleague over an argument about Muller Lights

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 17/06/2023 18:53

Mexican House Thief is misremembered as being its own thread. It wasn't it was a post on a thread called something like Have You Ever Encountered Anyone This Cheeky? It's in classics

Tryagainplease · 17/06/2023 18:54

Not sure if it’s been mentioned but the one the other week where a lady was complaining that the pharmacist wouldn’t sell canesten to her DH because it wasn’t for him. It turned out it was for her giant millipede

UnlimitedChipsAndSalsa · 17/06/2023 18:54

Thank you for this! 😂

Cornchip · 17/06/2023 18:55

The one with the phantom shitter in the office.

Someone should have advised her.

I've never heard that term before!

Maireas · 17/06/2023 18:58

Ah, @DarrellRiversCriminalBehaviourOrder - the heady combination of anonymity and a keyboard. People on here are sometimes just ridiculously rude and personal. Over absolute trivia. It really is astonishing! I always think it says a lot about them. Carry on with your slippers and I hope they're artisanal!

TheApplianceofScience · 17/06/2023 19:00

The rooting out of Judge Flounce was ummmmmmmmm interesting.

When SWMNBN used to come on at night pissed and defend her parenting advice.

Lavenderrrr

The red table cloth

When Queen Eagle started a thread about the cat and the football.

The one where the OP lived in a flat which opened out onto a courtyard garden. The garden belonged to OP's flat and it was the only flat which had door access to the garden. The OP came home one day to find that her neighbour had builders replace her (the neighbour's) windows with doors so that she could access the (OP's) garden! It ended up being a very long involved thread and the council got involved as the building was listed.

shmiz · 17/06/2023 19:01

My husband keeps standing like TRex
in Tesco -
that was my fave !!

TattiePants · 17/06/2023 19:04

Not so much bonkers but the threads that had me actually crying laughing were:

I AM CANADIAN - The OP was planning on moving to Canada despite knowing nothing about the country and was frankly being a complete arse. She was arguing with another poster and accused them of knowing nothing about Canada. The other poster was Canadian!

Susie Quatro’s Fat Nan - the poster had tried on some new clothing (leather jacket?) with the expectation of looking cool and fashionable. Instead she looked like SQ’s fat nan!

That you Bupcakes? - a prolific poster had a failed name change when asking about her itchy vagina.

They’re all in classics somewhere.

x2boys · 17/06/2023 19:06

Margarrite, and sad widow ,the Op,Margaritte started a thread saying she was skint and needed to make money last, and ideas how to.stretch money
She got some advice and probably some Pm,s
A few pages into the thread sad widow joined and it all got a bit weird with her making daily lists for margaritte, and sending her 20 kg,boxes of stuff from hermes, and badgering other posters to send margaritte stuff it was very strange

Can I just say that my only claim to fame on MN was naming the Yoni Massager Brian? <quietly proud>

Well done you 😁🏅 my yoni says noni still makes me chuckle.

Sunnydaysareuponus · 17/06/2023 19:08

What about the poster and the missing ironing board?
Did it ever turn up?
*or did the thread just fall flat?
