I've been on Mumsnet for around 10 years now, I have read some crazy threads.

I'm lying in bed hungover and looking for some stories to brighten up my shameful Saturday afternoon.

If anyone wants to share it would be greatly appreciated Grin

OP posts:

Not had time to look through the whole thread so may have been posted already, but there was one where the secretary of a creative writing club wanted (IIRC) to get new applicants to dress up as Harry Potter characters and squirt each other with water pistols as part of their application process. He or she was ousted as the other members just wanted a simple application form…

awambamalooma · 17/06/2023 19:59

Does anyone have the link for the. Maui wedding thread?

Sunnydaysareuponus · 17/06/2023 20:01

Suspected hedgehogs having sex thread..

BlinkeredBay · 17/06/2023 20:02

I’m sorry you’ve got a hangover OP, but im
loving this thread!

Not read the whole thread yet, but wondering if you’ve had any enquiries about if you’ve got an alcohol issue a la Mumsnet style with a head tilt?

Nellieinthebarn · 17/06/2023 20:05

Shameless place marking

MysteryBelle · 17/06/2023 20:08

The poster and all the people agreeing with her who never washed their feet because the water that ran down in the shower was enough.

😳

The recent thread about the husband who insists on taking a bath in Op’s used bath water “shall we bathe tonight”. I C K

JudgeAnderson · 17/06/2023 20:08

I'm sure it's already been posted and I haven't read all eleven pages but screaming in the Sistine chapel. Seldom has a thread gladdened my heart so greatly.
Honourable mention to Snapped and Farted also.

That somebody would post on Mumsnet that childless/free women should get the equivalent paid leave as womens enhanced maternity leave. Then some people who were clearly OP with a name change arguing the case. One "poster" was saying she had a great maternity leave and earned £85k whilst she travelled the world and learned hairdressing all whilst her baby slept through and never bothered her 😂😂😂🙄

To think that women without children should be able to take time off work too? | Mumsnet

Firstly I will say that I am 100% supportive of good maternity leave (and paternity / shared), and understand the importance of supporting women to ma...

The funny thing about snapped + farted was that it was never the thread subject. OP was writing about her immature new man in a martial arts class.. she just happened to mention she snapped and farted and that was ALL anyone picked up on.. I think she probably was really bemused by that as just wanted advice re new DP!

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 17/06/2023 20:14

The one that was all what's happening in your house then the OP threw in the bit about her 14yo DD having sex with a 12yo.
Also the one about the massage therapist and her husband cooking them a steak.

Museya15 · 17/06/2023 20:16

What was that crazy one where they were all going out to a show, the mother and father in law called in for drinks then went on and fell out with the daughter in law because they were all late? It was mental!!

I really thought snapped and farted was a typo. But then multiple requests for clarification, OP responded with 3 words: ‘I have IBS.’

8misskitty8 · 17/06/2023 20:18

The one where the OP thought a neighbour was spying on her when she used the toilet at night as she could hear a lightswitch getting put on from next door.
It was quite a few years ago.

More recently one about someone putting their wet clothes/pants etc to dry beside OP front door.

AcclimDD · 17/06/2023 20:21

@Inthedarkagain
Was that the thread where a poster suggested it was foxes in the hedge?
And the OP said something like 'I've never heard a fox say shove a finger up my bum?'
It was hilarious that thread 😂

SusiePevensie · 17/06/2023 20:22

The womam.who wanted to kick her 16 year old son out because had a bath every night.

cheapskatemum · 17/06/2023 20:23

SammyScrounge · 17/06/2023 18:28

I loved the one where the poster found her mother-in-law ironing the poster's thongs into neat little triangles.

I remember this one too!

I don't think the husband eating the fat ball was fake, there were too many details, such as DD remembering that hers had a green string etc

Lwrenagain · 17/06/2023 20:27

@MsCunk was it the one about the piles of 🍃 🍂?!

Because it still makes me laugh now, very classy indeed!

ichifanny · 17/06/2023 20:28

Screaming in the Sistine chapel , I sometimes still laugh out loud when I think about it .

HeadNorth · 17/06/2023 20:50

To be fair, I remember the artisanal slippers - it stuck in my mind because it was so smug and uptight at the same time. Mind you, anything called ‘artisanal’ is usually ridiculously overpriced tat.

Because she was moaning he'd embarrassed her by being rubbish/a beginner at her class. Some kind of martial art, I think.

She was describing his embarrassing behaviour, but she was the one who "snapped and farted", which was an incidental detail she didn't need to include

Lacucuracha · 17/06/2023 20:52

Artisanal just makes me think the OP was being tongue in cheek.

cheapskatemum · 17/06/2023 20:52

I literally have sore tummy muscles now from all the belly laughs from rereading these threads. Some of them are so old, yet I remember them like they were yesterday.

No one's mentioned the 1st date at the penguin zoo yet.

alltoomuchrightnow · 17/06/2023 19:29

of course snapped and farted is the ultimate..
should be snarted though..
haven't we all snarted at one point?!

Snapped and farted was a troll though ...
