To tell those who lecture me on vaping to Fuck Off

I'm in my 50s and was a long term smoker. I switched to vaping in January. I am considerate and only vape outdoors and move away from other people or into a smoking area. People sometimes
comment, there's a brief convo around my giving up smoking, and 9 out of 10 respond nicely in a 'well done you' kind of way.

The 1 out of 10 though start lecturing me on the evils of vaping. These can be complete strangers, or acquaintances. They go on and on.
Usual themes:

1. Just as bad for you or worse for you than smoking.
2. Children are vaping.
3. Environmental impact of disposables.

I respond politely. I acknowledge there is a concern around all of this, and
1 - I know they aren't exactly good for me but I think they are not as bad as cigarettes, and it's my intension to also stop vaping this year
2 - I agree the manufacturer's should stop targeting non-smokers with the sweet flavours
3 - I agree, I use a rechargeable, but there's probably a lot more all of us could be doing for the environment.

But they do not let it drop. I've literally been lectured at on and on.

YANBU to stop being polite after my initial response and tell them that if I stopped vaping today, I'd be back on the fags tomorrow so mind their own fucking business?

vape is just vegetable glycerin with a bit of flavouring chill out.

Maybe it is but I still don't want a face full of the stuff because some inconsiderate dickhead is walking in front of me vaping.

There's a lot in info re the chemicals in it. None of it good.

More selfishness and stupidity by the smokers/vapers though .... How could you expect to have a rational convo with those who do it though; the vert fact they do gives you a big ol indication of their good sense, judgement etc.

And it's their business and "mind your own business" while they're blowing it and streaming it over and into public places where, as I outlined above, there is no getting away from it.

My pil vape back to back ... Used to smoke back to back .... House stinks of it, every present they give us for our child stinks of it, your clothes stink of it after visiting, my h has asthma and that doesn't stop them (he also grew up being smoked over; could well have been a factor in his asthma), the mil couldn't visit my house without asking to vape indoors - had it out and was started before she asked ....... What can you say about these people, you'd use up the whole dictionary of insults.

Yeah exactly, no rational conversations from those who do vape- just a whole load of abuse because I happen to disagree and voted YABU to the OP question. You are right though - their homes, clothes and everything else does stink because of vaping - but of course whenever I have mentioned this in previous post I just get told that I need help for my anxiety!

Yeah the irony, maybe those sucking on vapes might be better getting help for their anxiety; can't cope with life without them apparently.

Non vapers and smokers don't have anxiety about it, they have irritation, annoyance and frustration about it ...... That's a wee tiny bit different.

But this passive aggessive, gas lighting, bull shit artist thinks that by patronisingly claiming you have "anxiety" and should get treatment for it, she's somehow won.

There have been plenty of rational conversations by those who are pro-vaping. Backed up with actual data, science, logical points of view, well-thought out discussions.
There have also been some rational points made by those who are anti-vaping.

You, however, have contributed absolutely nothing meaningful to this debate.

Just popping back in to ask @Mybusyday do you have a dog? Or cat? If so I can assure you your house stinks anyway, so nothing to worry about. All dogs stink, I hate it, but I don't go around telling people to get rid of their dogs because it's up to them what they do with their time and money, I tolerate it, just like most people do everything. We've given you rational explanations, you reply with "it's vile and stinks" so why would we carry on? You do you!
