To tell those who lecture me on vaping to Fuck Off

I'm in my 50s and was a long term smoker. I switched to vaping in January. I am considerate and only vape outdoors and move away from other people or into a smoking area. People sometimes
comment, there's a brief convo around my giving up smoking, and 9 out of 10 respond nicely in a 'well done you' kind of way.

The 1 out of 10 though start lecturing me on the evils of vaping. These can be complete strangers, or acquaintances. They go on and on.
Usual themes:

1. Just as bad for you or worse for you than smoking.
2. Children are vaping.
3. Environmental impact of disposables.

I respond politely. I acknowledge there is a concern around all of this, and
1 - I know they aren't exactly good for me but I think they are not as bad as cigarettes, and it's my intension to also stop vaping this year
2 - I agree the manufacturer's should stop targeting non-smokers with the sweet flavours
3 - I agree, I use a rechargeable, but there's probably a lot more all of us could be doing for the environment.

But they do not let it drop. I've literally been lectured at on and on.

YANBU to stop being polite after my initial response and tell them that if I stopped vaping today, I'd be back on the fags tomorrow so mind their own fucking business?

Absolutely no steam coming out of my nostrils - I don’t care that you vape but I do care that vaping affects my health - even the OP has admitted that they know it’s not exactly good for her health ffs! I don’t care if you think my behaviour if odd - I think it is odd to put vape in your body and want to smell like Parma violets! you can insult me all you like but you aren’t going to shut me up and stop me from having an opinion because you don’t like my opinion! Have you ever thought about the fact that we vape so that we don't smoke, as we know for a fact that smoking causes many health problems? That we're not as stupid as you think, because we've weighed up the risks and chosen the one that is considered safer? As you've obviously never smoked you'll have no idea how difficult it is to give up, but vaping makes it easier. I imagine almost all of us wish we'd never started smoking, but we're glad we've stopped and are quite happy that we are vaping. It's not necessarily something I enjoy, but it stops me from starting to smoke again and for that I am very grateful. So I'm not interested in any more of your posts because for me it works and believe me if we were all smoking instead of vaping it would be a lot worse for your health.

I've given up on this thread because too many posters lack the reading comprehension skills to understand my actual question and the info I posted.

It was not 'Should I vape?', which is what the thread turned into.

I did get some good suggestions for comebacks if it happens again, so thanks to the posters who can actually read. And thanks to those also who voted AIBU too, if they responded to my actual question and not one they made up in their own heads.

Well you might be ‘quite happy’ vaping but the rest of us who hate it are certainly not happy with it - or the stink that comes with it! If you all stopped smoking and vaping it would be a lot better for everyone’s health - gave you ever thought about that fact????

Nope, it never crosses my mind.....just enjoying a nice puff on my vape....I'm sure you can smell it from where you are 🤣

we were referring to one of the posters who has been relentless in her anti-vape posts. I’m sure you can tell who we mean! She keeps repeating the same shite over and over again about how vile and disgusting it is and it was getting tedious.

Can you please provide proof that vapers put other people’s health at risk.
And I don’t mean ‘well it makes me cough’ or whatever, I mean links to some cold, hard evidence that second hand vaping (or, even vaping itself) is killing people?

What is your go to? Seeing as this thread is making me want to take up vaping, I would like some recommendations on what flavours are particularly palatable. Thanks
