I eat chocolate every night, it’s all I’ve ever known

ive had chocolate every night after dinner since I can remember, my parents always gave me a choc bar each night. I still do this now in my 30s and can’t have an evening without. Anyone else do this in their household?

This is like chocoholics anonymous! Yes every evening once the kids are in bed either a chocolate bar or some jelly tots or in the summer a cornetto! Like others, I don't drink or smoke so it's my treat and I'm a healthy weight and look after my teeth. Sure I know it's not healthy but I enjoy it and I find if I try to restrict myself I'll end up binging at some point so better to eat it daily in moderation....

celticprincess · 15/06/2023 20:30

Yes I do. And my kids often have theirs too. Mainly because the dentist told us it was better to eats sweets straight after a meal than to have it a few hours later separately. I have those single twirl bars, small dairy milk bars type things.

doingthehokeykokey · 15/06/2023 20:45

I’m impressed how people have it in the house and resist eating it.

I know someone who has a whole chocolate display cabinet!

Yes they are!

They are, but they’ve changed the mallow. It has less rigidity than it used to. I miss the old ones. Although it does now allow a you to scoop the mallow out with your tongue. (Horrible insight to the way I eat tea cakes, I can only apologise). I like the ones with jam in, too.

I have to eat something sweet for each meal. I have the world’s worst sweet tooth. Eg breakfast has to have a bit of honey in porridge/ bit of granola on weetabix. Lunch is finished with a chocolate biscuit of sorts or just a celebration- esque chocolate. Then dinner - chocolate biscuit again and nibbling away on the big dairy milk in the fridge.

😋 🍫

Treesandsheepeverywhere · 15/06/2023 20:57

I used to have 200g of dairy milk every day since I was about 16, washed down with a can of diet coke.
Started putting on weight in my 30's after a bad break up where i was having cake om top of the chocolate, milkshakes and anything sweet.
Cut down to 50g a day and lost 5 stone.
Now have something sweet every night but like other pp, I don't drink or smoke.
Both my parents have a sweet tooth and seems I inherited double the trouble.

gooddayturnedshit · 15/06/2023 21:02

Nope. I was pretty much force fed crap like sweets and chocolate as a kid. I can't stand it now. DP has to nag me to have a bite of his new amazing chccy bar. I'm just not sweet toothed at all. Don't like ice cream or anything sweet tbh, But that doesn't mean I'm skinny! I love bread, pasta, butter etc.

Nikileigh · 15/06/2023 21:12

My fil is 65 he always has a wagon wheel after his tea. Was something I took to too while we lived with them a while lol xx

Littleguggi · 15/06/2023 21:23

Haha at the poster who said this is like chocoholics anonymous, I agree! I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this thread. I do love a bar of dairy milk or lindt ball (the red one) after dinner. I maintain a healthy lifestyle otherwise, I am healthy BMI and exercise 3x a week. Never been keen on sweets, but chocolate is my vice! My youngest DD takes after me!

PrincessHoneysuckle · 15/06/2023 21:28

I buy it as a treat for us all every so often but I don't have it in all the time.I could genuinely eat one of those massive bars of Galaxy in one go as I'm prone to binge eating sweet things if they're in the house.

PinkRiceKrispies · 15/06/2023 21:37

I'm in awe of those of you who can eat just a few squares or a mini sized amount.
Today for example. I had a chocolate doughnut at lunch. Then this evening, half a family sized bar of aldi own chocolate. That is actually quite a low consumption for me also.

Pussywilloww · 15/06/2023 21:40

I definitely could eat a whole bar, in fact I could probably eat 5! But I have to limit to not gain weight. I know this sounds like bollocks, but a small amount actually is nicer (for me) than when I binge eat loads!

opalescent · 15/06/2023 21:46

I do it!! I try to make a large bar last at least 5 days, I only have a few squares, but I HAVE to have it.
At the mo, my favourites are Tony's chocoloney with salted caramel, or revels.

Littleguggi · 15/06/2023 21:59

Has anyone tried grenade for a lower sugar and protein hit?

Youcunnyfunt · 15/06/2023 22:01

I love but habits are the bane of my life. I just about put up with teeth brushing, showering, and plant watering for daily habits. I prefer the novelty of eating different things at different times, I get bored very easily!

My mom does. She’s 63 and has had a treat, as she calls it, every day since she was a little girl.

Within 10 mins of finishing her dinner, she’s eating a chocolate bar.

This is my mum too! She's also 63.

Me not so much as not a sweet tooth, so can easily go a week without even thinking of chocolate. Crisps and nuts are a different story 😳

Fluffmum · 15/06/2023 22:08

My dh does ever since he was a kid. He’s 59 now

Twentypastfour · 15/06/2023 22:14

Oh I eat chocolate everyday - generally one of the family sized bars 🫢. Never after dinner though… it’s more a mid- morning thing.

Actually my diet is horrendous. I’ve been known to eat a 4 or 5 pack of doughnuts in one go quite often. How I don’t show it I don’t know and if I’m honest… I don’t really want to know.

Loafbeginsat60 · 15/06/2023 22:22

elfblossom I am really sorry to hear about your son. My sense of smell is weird, I hate coffee when I used to love the smell of it and cigarettes just smell like weed!!. I can’t smell most bad smells, which can be blessing I suppose. I get most nice smells tho - it’s very strange

I also can’t stand red pepper when I loved it before but hating chocolate really is miserable.

Fivebyfive2 · 14/06/2023 21:14

Yep! I have a bar every night about 9pm and have done since I was a kid. I don't drink or smoke, I'm a healthy weight etc. Night time chocolate is my one little daily "treat" and I don't plan to stop any day soon. I'm 35 🤣

This is absolutely me and I’m 44. Genuinely would make me miserable at the thought of giving up 😅

Mistressofnone · 15/06/2023 22:52

I remember reading that oldest person ever lived to 122. She was French and ate chocolate every day!

Snowpaw · 16/06/2023 07:23

I got into a habit when my DD was about 2 of eating Kit Kats and club biscuits during her afternoon nap. It got to be a bit of a problem - like I was desperately willing her to go to sleep and if she didn’t drop off at usual time I’d feel irritable because it meant delayed access to chocolate! I realised it wasn’t healthy and stopped it. I don’t keep it in house now and just eat occasionally. I can’t do moderation

Well I’m 73 and I still eat chocolate every night … keep going 😊

Rhaenys · 19/06/2023 20:11

No but I don’t have a sweet tooth. Wouldn’t bat an eyelid if someone else did though as it’s not different from having pudding imo.

tracylamont13 · 19/06/2023 20:13

I do. It's typically dark chocolate as that's what I like. In fact, I've just asked hubby while he's up if he could pass my my usual chocolate. Yum. Enjoy.
