I eat chocolate every night, it’s all I’ve ever known

ive had chocolate every night after dinner since I can remember, my parents always gave me a choc bar each night. I still do this now in my 30s and can’t have an evening without. Anyone else do this in their household?

It’s a sad night in my house when there isn’t a little treat with a cuppa.

Same

BurbageBrook · 14/06/2023 22:18

I wish I could be someone who has just a few squares of chocolate but if I kept it in the house, I'd eat a disgusting amount of it. I have very little self control around chocolate!

Truestorypeeps · 14/06/2023 22:20

I stopped Chocolate for lent and rarely got the desire to have chocolate since... Quick Google...

"The natural brain chemical enkephalin is heightened when chocolate is consumed. Enkephalin triggers opioid receptors similar to those triggered by heroin and morphine use".

Sugar and fat found in chocolate are also addictive.

goingtotown · 14/06/2023 22:22

I fancy a bounty now.

Hollyppp · 14/06/2023 22:22

I think I have something in the evening, a biscuit, some ice cream, some watermelon, some choc. Something!!

LoobyDop · 14/06/2023 22:25

Only a couple of squares, not a whole bar. My dad used to take me to the sweetshop every night. Not overweight, no fillings.

No. I don’t think many people routinely have a bar of chocolate every night.

But why does it matter what other people do? If you want to have a bar of chocolate every night, have one every night. You’re a grown-up; you can do what you like.

Really? I do and so does everyone else i know. In fact, I've only met one person who didn't and she was an acupuncturist with a very healthy lifestyle so I'm not sure she counts 😂😂

aramox1 · 14/06/2023 22:27

Two squares dark choc. Preferably posh!

Tubs11 · 14/06/2023 22:27

Substitute chocolate for wine and I'm there!

Pibrea · 14/06/2023 22:28

I have a Dairy Milk ‘little’ bar after dinner every night. It’s better than having a few squares of a big bar because a few squares always turns into the whole bar for me. The little bar is only 18g but it feels satisfying somehow!

Emmamoo89 · 14/06/2023 22:30

Have it breakfast lunch and tea!

HangingOver · 14/06/2023 22:30

I would if vegan chocolate weren't crap. I think I've only had one chocolate bar this year! Oreos on the other hand I can virtually inhale.

LadyBrook · 14/06/2023 22:30

Nope but I’ve never liked chocolate, always found it really sickly. Sometimes I watch tv in the evening and I’ll usually have a bag of crisp while doing that, otherwise I don’t bother.

PrinnyPree · 14/06/2023 22:36

I used to eat alot of chocolate as a kid as my Dad used to work as a fitter at a chocolate factory and bring home factory seconds all the time.

Then I wasn't that bothered about chocolate and would only eat it occasionally through most of adulthood (although crisps is another story) however ever since I got pregnant I have to have it every night. Go through a family size sainsburys Belgium chocolate bar every week. I think I'm addicted as I crave it, I used to smoke though and quit a year before I got pregnant so I heavily suspect I may be just replacing one with the other to get a dopamine hit! 😅

ItsBritneyBitchhhh · 14/06/2023 22:37

I have a chocolate bar every single day. It’s an awful habit but I guess it’s better than smoking right?! (I hope so anyway😬)

Aslanplustwo · 14/06/2023 22:43

I have chocolate or something similar every day also. Nothing wrong with a treat, and I rarely drink and never smoke.

I ate chocolate every single day of my life until I got covid in 2020 and now I don't like it 😢 😢 😢

I'm so sorry for you. I know some might think you're lucky or that it's funny but, my son, was 12 then, got Covid and lost his sense of smell and even 2 years later it's barely returned.

Some things he can't smell at all, other really strong smells he can maybe catch a whiff and his sense of taste hasn't been the same either.

It makes him really sad and he said the thing that makes him most upset is that he misses my perfume when I hug him, my heart broke.

He had really awful anxiety in primary school and I made him a little stuffed felt heart, sprayed a bit of my perfume on it and if he was worried at school he could give it a squeeze and smell my perfume and know everything would be okay.

People have suggested scent training, we tried it but, not seen any improvement.

UniCandle · 14/06/2023 22:46

I eat three cadbury caramel buttons every evening. Look forward to it every day!

TopMog · 14/06/2023 22:48

I have a sticker which says "Emergency - send chocolate."

But seriously, dark chocolate, not the mucky milk chocolate is good for you.

Enjoy!

declutteringmymind · 14/06/2023 22:50

I've accepted that I want a treat of some kind everyday. I'm losing weight quite nicely at the moment and still having a little something every day and really enjoying it.

It's all about context and moderation

Strawberrypicnic · 14/06/2023 22:50

Yep I do, I vaguely feel like I shouldn't but I'm a healthy weight and my teeth are good so...

I think most people have a sweet treat in the evening, I'd feel quite sad without one!

Exactly this🤣.
There is no Chocolate Bar 🍫 👮‍♀️ Policing as far as I’m aware.

It’s a pretty harmless vice, unless it’s one of those monster Toblerones one used to see on Oldskool ferries.

Peppadog · 14/06/2023 22:53

Small wispa every evening here, or cadburys creme egg leading up to Easter.
Apart from that I eat healthy, low BMI etc, but noone is taking my wispa bar away from me.

whynotwhatknot · 14/06/2023 22:54

yep

was only allowed limited chocolate as a child so i have a bit every day now

MerryHen · 14/06/2023 22:56

I have got into the habit of having a sweet treat most nights, didn't growing up though.

My best friend from primary did, they had a drawer of chocolates they could choose from every night. One time a baby sitter thought her and her brother were trying it on when they insisted they always had a chocolate bar after their tea. Friend told me about this as an adult and still seemed quite indignant that the sitter didn't let them have their evening treat 😂
