I eat chocolate every night, it’s all I’ve ever known

ive had chocolate every night after dinner since I can remember, my parents always gave me a choc bar each night. I still do this now in my 30s and can’t have an evening without. Anyone else do this in their household?

Really jealous. I love chocolate especially dark chocolate.
However my BMI is unhealthy atm so not eating it. Just keep eating lovely chocolate…

TrueScrumptious · 14/06/2023 21:18

Yes, always as a child and young adult. It was the final part after dinner. Still do it now and I’m in my 50s. I can live without it but I do like it. I don’t have a bar now, just a bit. I think it’s quite normal. No, I’m not overweight and, no, I do not have horrid teeth.

Brigitteshittette · 14/06/2023 21:19

same. I don’t feel bad 🤷‍♀️

dudsville · 14/06/2023 21:19

I don't have a sweet tooth generally, but i was given a chocolate éclair today and i thought i could easily have one everyday!

I ate chocolate every single day of my life until I got covid in 2020 and now I don't like it 😢 😢 😢

Same here. Cant stand it now and I had been known to demolish one of those huge bars in an evening. Now i can't even have a tiny square. Easter was hell 😩

Winnerturkeydinner · 14/06/2023 21:21

I buy boxes of chocolates and just have one a day. I can make Lindors last well over a week. One is enough to satisfy my sweet tooth

VioletCharlotte · 14/06/2023 21:21

I've just had a Twix. I don't have chocolate every night, bur probably at least 4 nights a week. I used to biscuits before bed as a child and I'm sure this is why I always want something sweet at night!

tallcypowder · 14/06/2023 21:22

I often eat several most nights.

It's why I am getting fatter and fatter. Wish I could stop at one.

Ifonlyiknewwhat · 14/06/2023 21:26

Loving the comments! Interesting to see it’s not just me 🤣 I’ve just polished off 2 lines of galaxy, quite good willpower tonight, it’s usually 3!

I eat a family sized / share bar of either Galaxy caramel or Milkybar every single day (not all in one go, I’ll have a few squares every time
I have a tea really) and have done for at least the last 25 years 🙈 it’s an awful habit and I could do with losing some weight but I just really love chocolate. To be fair it’s my only vice, I don’t drink / smoke / do drugs and I eat very healthily otherwise. I just love it.

YukoandHiro · 14/06/2023 21:30

No but my DH is the same and now I'm sort of addicted to it. We haven't let the kids into the habit yet though (they're still young and we have it after they go to bed)

Flaskfan · 14/06/2023 21:30

There are quite distinct rules about this kind of thing.

After lunch it's a kit kat,/club type thing.
After tea can be a couple of biscuits/ cake/ few little brownies. Growing up, it was semolina or custard based in winter. Fruit and cream based in summer.

Actual chocolate bars are for the weekend.
Custard creams, bourbons, pink wafers are for handing out to visitors.
Digestives are an absolute last resort.

NortieTortie · 14/06/2023 21:30

Ooh I really want a galaxy now

That sounds both traumatic and also very good for your health! I wish I would just go off it...

Loafbeginsat60 · 14/06/2023 21:34

I suppose it has been very good for my health but I loved it so much that I'm still not over it...!

LapinR0se · 14/06/2023 21:35

Sadly I am lactose intolerant so can only manage 85% dark chocolate and even then only one or two squares. So I have that after dinner each day. I used to love milk chocolate, my favourite was galaxy caramel. I just can’t eat it any more without severe pain

GeraltsBathtub · 14/06/2023 21:36

No, I don’t. Not out of particularly avoiding it, we have chocolate in the house, it just wouldn’t occur to me to eat it every day - I don’t normally have anything after my dinner at all. Not sure when I last had any chocolate - maybe two weeks ago after a particularly stressful day at work. Do you do it because you actually want it or is it just habit?

Howtosolveit · 14/06/2023 21:37

No but I would love to. Sadly I find it too hard to resist sugar so I can't keep chocolate in the house or I would eat all of it. I also find that the more junk I eat, the more I want.

peachicecream · 14/06/2023 21:39

My DH has a square or two of dark chocolate in the evening and I sometimes join him, but not every night.

Most people have an unhealthy habit or two, so no judgement, although if it makes you feel unhealthy or you are overweight, could be something to consider cutting back on.

megletthesecond · 14/06/2023 21:40

Same here. Had a few giant M&S choc buttons tonight after tea.

Usernamen · 14/06/2023 21:45

No I don’t, but I do plenty of other unhealthy shit, like drink beer on a random Wednesday (today).

Try not to beat yourself up about it - as long as you’re healthy on balance, it’s fine to have a vice.

thedietcokeaddict · 14/06/2023 21:46

My dad used to bring home fresh cookies, muffins and doughnuts every other day or so. We would have afters every night. Now im not living at home I miss it terribly!

Magssss · 14/06/2023 21:48

I gave up chocolate (plus biscuits/cakes/ice cream etc) at Christmas because I was totally addicted! I’ve lost a stone and feel really good... However I have dreamt about eating chocolate twice in that time 🤣 My birthday is in December and I’m looking forward to eating a pile of gooey chocolate brownies and then going back to low sugar because I feel a lot better without it personally but eat a chocolate bar a day if that makes you happy!

Is that following covid too? My family member has been left with severe food intolerances after covid, which they caught very early on in the pandemic.

nopuppiesallowed · 14/06/2023 21:50

Some people have wine o'clock.
I have choc o'clock.....
