Recently remortgaged and the massive rate rise got us thinking. Made me wonder - what is the average people owe? Yes it depends on area/value/when bought etc. But to make it simple I'd be interested in
A) how much owed
B) your age

I'll go first! We owe £115k and I'm 31.

Do you not need LTV for this to be useful?

Bicnod · 13/06/2023 22:33

£500k and I'm 44 😱

We plan to sell up and downsize when the kids leave home as we'll never pay it off (interest only mortgage)

Sassy31 · 13/06/2023 22:34

MyEyesHurt · 13/06/2023 22:36

About 300k. I'm 39. Soon to have a big birthday and sad that the huge cost means we can't even have a minibreak by the (local, british) seaside to celebrate. My mum went to a far away island for her 50th so I'm hopeful I'll catch up by then.

VestaTilley · 13/06/2023 22:36

We owe £543,000 and we’re 37.

Exactly what I was thinking.

”£2k left on our £150k house” okaaaay

Lapland123 · 13/06/2023 22:38

Oh bugger
Have larger mortgage at older age than anyone else here!!

DaisyLouB · 13/06/2023 22:38

Still owe £121k and have 8 years left to pay. We’re 43 and 44 age wise and our LTV is 25%

borrowed more money 2 years ago to pay for an extension, that was on a fixed rate deal which will shortly come to an end 😫

AnneElliott · 13/06/2023 22:39

£112k and we are 44 and 51. Hoping to have most paid off before the cheap fix rate ends in 4 years

24252627a · 13/06/2023 22:39

£390 I am 32

Blindedbythelighters · 13/06/2023 22:39

£295,000 (about 60% loan to value)

On a 5-year trajectory to pay off- what fun
Remortgaged in early 2023 on the advice of the bank at 1.75%
