Recently remortgaged and the massive rate rise got us thinking. Made me wonder - what is the average people owe? Yes it depends on area/value/when bought etc. But to make it simple I'd be interested in
A) how much owed
B) your age

I'll go first! We owe £115k and I'm 31.

Approx 62k remaining and 15 years.

However, hoping to move in 12-18 months after the housing markets has stabilised a little and we've finished our planned Reno work. Would be looking at going up to 150-170k outstanding with 30 years outstanding at that point 😭

bonfirebash · 13/06/2023 22:27

Now:
38k at 33. 5 years left to pay.

As of next month:
180k. 33 year mortgage.

We will reduce term once we stop paying childcare.

HellonHeels · 13/06/2023 22:29

Both mid fifties and second marriage so started late. We'll have it paid by state retirement age.

Bit depressing really. Don't imagine paying it off. Have plans to downside somewhere cheaper and get mortgage free that way a bit earlier. Doesn't really worry me though.

Circumferences · 13/06/2023 22:30

I own two four bedroom houses outright and don't have a mortgage.
