To ask how much your owe on your mortgage and your age?

Recently remortgaged and the massive rate rise got us thinking. Made me wonder - what is the average people owe? Yes it depends on area/value/when bought etc. But to make it simple I'd be interested in
A) how much owed
B) your age

I'll go first! We owe £115k and I'm 31.

Yeah seems crazy to me.

We are mid 40s and mortgage is still over 100k, and we put down a big deposit too. Most people I know still have chunky mortgages.

Houses are around £600k here though so maybe that's why?

when we were 50 we owed £40k but dh fell in love with another house (to be fair out of love with our house) and we got an interest only mortgage to afford the new one…we will downsize eventually

I'm 47 and feel incredibly fortunate I'm not starting out as a ftb now.

Mortgage free. My house was £94 million and I paid the mortgage off in 31 seconds at the age of 12.

£62k. I’m 36 and will have it cleared by 40.

I'm 60. I couldn't afford to buy a home until I was 44 so I was a late starter. I have 3 years left until it's paid off.

I owe nothing because I am not yet on the housing ladder! 😭.

£405k both early 40s. Booo! DH refers to it as the boot on his neck (flare for the dramatic). It's our first house. Worth around 800k. We have no plans to upsize (we had a look and preferred our house to what we saw - even with small garden/cant justify stamp duty). Will make the changes here when we can afford to.
