To not paint my toenails for my friends wedding tomorrow

Hairsayitdontsprayit · 09/06/2023 12:25

First world problem I know! I have painted my fingernails a lovely red but I have lost my toe separators and find painting my toes boring, plus I have a 10 month old baby who makes every task 10x more difficult to complete! My toes will be on show as I have sandals to wear with my dress tomorrow.

UABU- paint your toenails to match your fingernails
UANBU- nude toenails are fine

Up to you but I couldnt wear any shoes that would show my toes without gel on them. I havent been able to do mine for the past week for various reasons and have actually had to plan outfits around not wearing sandals. So pleased I gelled them this morning in time for the weekend.

Goodness.

I couldn't live like that.

You should speak to your GP.

Surely this is a wind up thread?

Tiddlypomtiddlypom · 09/06/2023 14:07

i do notice a pretty toe nail

Heave. 🤢 this has totally put me in mind of Harvey Keitel’s creepy AF red coke nail in Taxi Driver.

Ugh ugh ugh.

Tiddlypomtiddlypom · 09/06/2023 14:08

I feel a bit sorry for the people so preoccupied with the feet of others. Maybe they should try looking up.

The number of weirdo’s on this thread who genuinely give a shit about someone else’s toenails is mind boggling!

It’s no-one else’s business whether you paint your toe nails, shave your ‘pits or even brush your teeth.

when you meet people face-to-face, brushing your teeth does become everyone's business. No one needs to be subjected to vile breath.

I agree armpits are no-one's business, but I reserve the right to find airy women unattractive and looking unkept. 😂

Do you mean ‘hairy’ and ‘unkempt?’ I presume that you do, but actually I think there’s a nice sort of slip in you thinking women who are airy about keeping up with unnecessary hair removal aren’t ‘kept’ by anyone.

oh the irony...

Why is it ok to snigger at someone who cares about their appearance and then feel superior when you are wasting your own time on SM discussing nail polish yourself.

golddustwomen · 09/06/2023 14:12

I would have to paint mine. I always have my hands and toes matching colours but it's purely for me, no one else. Makes me happy! I get them done once a month.

Kanaloa · 09/06/2023 14:12

I do agree on teeth brushing though - if you don’t brush your teeth you can end up with gum disease, painful rotting teeth, cavities. Basic and necessary personal hygiene isn’t really comparable to unnecessary and often expensive treatments such as painted/decorated nails, body hair removal, and things like that. Those things are a personal choice.

Neverinamonthofsundays · 09/06/2023 14:12

I cannot imagine having bare toenails as mine have been painted constantly for over 30 years at this point but I have to say you would have painted the cistine chapel in the time it took you to come on here, post this, read and respond to other posts.

NerrSnerr · 09/06/2023 14:12

What are people actually doing while their toenails dry? I paint them and then walk around like normal and they dry naturally. I don't know how long it takes but no long, but I don't need to sit on my arse while it's doing it.

The OP should paint her nails as she pleases. It's none of anyone else's business. I'm sure she has many brilliant qualities that she doesn't need to worry whether people are judging her toes.

apologies, I am not English, and I am also missing the point of your comment, it's too deep for me!

I would totally notice, and I would totally judge you! However the sky won’t fall in, and presumably you give no fucks about a randoms opinion, so live on the edge and leave them, lol.

Posts like this ruin my day. These are the things we all worry people might think but hope they don't.

Yes, but don't they also give you a clear idea about the kind of person who gives a shit?

notokaywiththetropes · 09/06/2023 14:15

I think the bit people aren't noticing is that OP will have red painted nails....the weird thing (to my, admittedly ND, mind) is that they don't match. I would not care or judge or probably notice if no nails were painted, but I would notice someone with painted handnails but bare toenails.

I would notice and fins it exceedingly weird. But there is no reason me thinking that should impact at all on the person with the nails in question....

TheOrigRights · 09/06/2023 14:15

Goodness me. Some people have high maintenance toenails!

I'm a runner. My toenails do their job - protect my toes. They are not diseased or unhealthy, but they are often damaged, very short and don't look very pretty.
If anyone has ever noticed or cared or judged I have never been made aware of it. They will no doubt look better when I stop running but then I will be sad because I love to run. So on balance I'll stick with the rotten toenails.

Fandabedodgy · 09/06/2023 14:16

@deathbyhayfever

There's caring about your appearance and there's planning your whole life around it.

Letting your toenails affect your life is extreme.

Yeah the reasons for cleaning teeth are to do with not increasing risk to health in many ways, it’s not optional like eg teeth whitening. I don’t do clean my teeth out of courtesy for other people, I do it because I don’t want the health risks associated with not doing it.

DarrellRiversCriminalBehaviourOrder · 09/06/2023 13:56

You're shocked rather easily, aren't you?

Oh dear 🙄 I am mildly surprised that other people don't notice feet as much as I do.

I am interested in people around me, I like to look at hair, clothes, and yes nails. I like bright pretty colours, I think it looks nice.

LtMoose · 09/06/2023 14:17

I don't paint my toe nails, and I'm really glad this part of female social conditioning has missed me. I'd say to women who would not wear sandals without their nails painted to examine that feeling a bit. Do you think men feel the same? Would you judge them the same? I doubt your desire to paint your nails has come from yourself, but society's desire for women to be pretty and shiny.

Blossomandbee · 09/06/2023 14:18

@badger2005 you roll the kitchen roll/tissue up so it's like a long thin sausage then weave it through your toes at the base sort of like this:

Why would you worry about what other people think?

If it's a bother to you, do paint your nails.
If you don't care, then... don't. It's a non-issue surely?

Not everyone needs a mans approval for everything. I like my toes painted, like having them pretty for ME not for anyone else.

StarGuide · 09/06/2023 14:21

@LtMoose well said!

Xmasbaby11 · 09/06/2023 14:21

I think painted toenails look better but if you don’t mind, it honestly doesn’t matter!
