To not paint my toenails for my friends wedding tomorrow

Hairsayitdontsprayit · 09/06/2023 12:25

First world problem I know! I have painted my fingernails a lovely red but I have lost my toe separators and find painting my toes boring, plus I have a 10 month old baby who makes every task 10x more difficult to complete! My toes will be on show as I have sandals to wear with my dress tomorrow.

UABU- paint your toenails to match your fingernails
UANBU- nude toenails are fine

You mean you don’t eat your wedding canapés lying on your stomach on the floor with your face on another person’s sandals? Hmm… maybe that’s the problem.

Or are you just a normal person who tends be eating and chatting and dancing, leaving no time to examine other people’s toenails to decide if they’re acceptable or not?

I've considered it, but am concerned that no-one's feet would be suitable after conducting my inspection into the state of their skin, nail quality and, of course, polish or lack thereof!

I'll gladly fall into the second camp, I was beginning to wonder if the supermarket was full of people horrified at my choice of shoe and making assumptions about my life based solely on the area from my ankle downwards. 🤣

Appleass · 09/06/2023 13:53

Go nail naked ! Got to better than some of sights we see nowadays, with the orange tans, illuminious teeth, straw hair extensions, feather duster lashes, sharpie brows, masses of smudges tattoos, etc etc ...seriously dont worry !

ABugWife · 09/06/2023 13:55

I am shocked how many people don't notice other peoples feet. I notice feet more than faces, I must be looking at the floor all day! Not judging people but i do notice a pretty toe nail.

Abouttimemum · 09/06/2023 13:55

I didn’t paint my toenails as bridesmaid at my friend’s wedding and nobody gave any shits. Or even noticed, I would imagine!

PleasantOwl · 09/06/2023 13:56

I went to a wedding a couple of years back and one of the guests hadn’t painted their toenails. To be honest it ruined the whole day for everyone, the bride pretended it was OK but was clearly distraught and it was all anyone was talking about. To make matters worse, all the communal photos had to be taken ankle-upwards.

Whatonearth07957 · 09/06/2023 13:56

Paint them OP. I would entirely judge you! 😆😘

You're shocked rather easily, aren't you?

Luminousnose · 09/06/2023 13:57

I think the fact that you’ve done your finger nails will make you look a bit unfinished op. If you’d done neither, I wouldn’t think anything off it, but if I saw you’d done your fingers but not your toes, Ikd think it a bit odd.

Revoltingrhyme · 09/06/2023 13:57

It doesn’t even take 2 minutes. 60 seconds if that. Your baby can sit for 60 seconds can’t he ?

Elevel · 09/06/2023 13:57

Softoprider · 09/06/2023 13:47

@Elevel
I think if you are behind someone in a queue and notice they are wearing sandals and then see really disgusting feet inside those sandals it is like staring at a boil on a face............. just why? Why not at least wash your feet first before exposing them to an innocent stranger waiting to pay for her shopping?

LOL

This is the thing - I don't think many people are looking down at shoes and assessing the feet of strangers. If I think about the supermarket I'm either staring absentmindedly at the back of a head, into space, or watching the conveyor belt, etc.
I can't say I'd stare at a boil either, I would of course notice it, but why stare and make the person feel self-conscious?

AgathaSpencerGregson · 09/06/2023 13:58

Softoprider · 09/06/2023 13:36

To be honest, it's not so much about whether or not the nails are painted - it's more about the condition of your feet. I have seen women wearing sandals in queues in supermarkets. shops etc and been revolted by the disgusting hard skin on display. If they don't look after their feet then what else don't they care about?
Give yourself a pedicure and the nails can be an afterthought OP

I just don’t believe this. I have never met anyone so empty-headed as to preoccupy themselves with strangers feet in a supermarket. You are making this up.

JaninaDuszejko · 09/06/2023 13:58

I didn't paint my toenails for my own wedding. Amazingly DH still married me.

I did get my first and last professional manicure though, it was a very long time ago and talons were fashionable, she was amazed at how short my nails were. I wore gloves a lot at work so needed to have short nails.

Beginningless · 09/06/2023 12:44

God, some of these answers are depressing. Even if nails are yellow or manky, it’s just a tiny part of a body and who cares what other people think? Personally I don’t think painted toenails always look lovely, especially bright colours like red look tacky imho, but that’s for myself, I don’t care if other people like them for themselves. No wonder we’ve got swathes of young girls wanting to opt out of being girls when they have these kinds of pressures on them, this is only the toes! When you are lying in your deathbed, will you think ‘I’m glad no one judged my toenails’?

No one to see crusty fungal nails. If they are then cover them up.

OP Rimmel 60 seconds takes literally 60 seconds.

Fandabedodgy · 09/06/2023 13:59

I've never painted my toe nails in my life. In the last 49 years no one has complained.

No one will care.

To those who asked, I guess I think it’s lazy not to bother, and if you want bare toes (or, the horror, chipped nail polish), then wear closed toed shoes. I accept I am bonkers btw, and give no fucks - like I say, I wouldn’t comment on it, just silently judge, lol.

I think it’s pretty bonkers to say it’s ‘lazy’ to keep the body how it was naturally intended to be.

StarGuide · 09/06/2023 14:00

@Beginningless I agree with you completely. I can now find this sort of threads amusing but when I was younger it was upsetting comments about having to remove arm hair (let's not even start on pubes!) or straightening my curly hair otherwise I'm some manly troll who committed a major sin!
Such comments came from men as well as women btw.

Well the thing about that is that it’s not actually true. So that’s the problem there. It doesn’t take 60 seconds to paint all your toenails and dry them to a good standard. It takes much longer than that.

Beginningless · 09/06/2023 14:02

user1473878824 · 09/06/2023 13:34

Well I definitely don’t want to be shovelling in a canapé and catch a look at someone in sandals with yellow manky toenails next to me so I think that bit DOES matter a bit to be honest.

So the poor lady that has a discoloured toenail is supposed to think to herself ‘I’d better cover up because I might disgust someone?’ What about her comfort? Would you think this about a granny with an unattractive toenail or just a young woman?

I’ve never used a toe separator. I just paint them! My nails don’t touch any other part of my foot anyway.

You got feet like this?!

Coffeepot72 · 09/06/2023 14:03

As someone who painted her toe nails for pilates class this morning ..... I personally feel better, more together and groomed if I've got painted toenails, irrespective of the shade I've chosen.

Cranfor · 09/06/2023 14:03

Personally I don’t like matchy matchy toes and fingers, so I’d leave them plain or paint a different colour.

Agreed. Where do we draw the line? Is it lazy to not wear make up? Lazy to not colour your hair? Lazy to not have Botox/lip fillers? Specifically which beauty procedures is it considered ‘lazy’ not to partake in?
I have regular pedicures but rarely paint my toe nails. Is that lazy?

DanceMonster · 09/06/2023 14:04

Tiddlypomtiddlypom · 09/06/2023 14:03

No. Just normal feet where my toes don’t overlap each other.

Do you stare at people with boils on their faces thinking those kinds of thoughts? Were you not brought up properly?

The number of weirdo’s on this thread who genuinely give a shit about someone else’s toenails is mind boggling!

It’s no-one else’s business whether you paint your toe nails, shave your ‘pits or even brush your teeth.
