Correct way to eat toast

SlimPig · 06/06/2023 09:14

AIBU to think that the correct way to eat toast is to eat the crusts on 3 sides, then the best, middle bit, then the last crust?

I swing between thinking hot melted buttery toast is best vs cold toast with unmelted butter, variously too.

I shovel it in cookie monster style

AmbleInAnnBoleyn · 06/06/2023 09:16

Triangles are best for shovelling in. So I am told.

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 06/06/2023 09:16

What? No! Surely you sacrifice a considerable amount of structural integrity in eating three crusts before the middle, thereby risking a toasty collapse?

bussteward · 06/06/2023 09:16

Wait, are you eating the whole slice of toast at once instead of cutting it into rectangles or triangles? This is insane.

BonnieGlasses · 06/06/2023 09:17

You're so wrong. The correct way to eat toast is to eat your way around the crust first and then finish with the middle bit. Who wants to end with a mouthful of crust?! Confused

toomuchlaundry · 06/06/2023 09:18

DH and I are complete opposites when it comes to toast, he is in the put butter on straight away and eat hot camp, whereas I am in the leave it to cool right down and then put butter on camp.

Enko · 06/06/2023 09:18

I'd find your way very off putting to watch.

Also the best part is the crusts not the middle.

I cut into triangles and eat from one end to the other.

Ponoka7 · 06/06/2023 09:19

How are you eating three crusts, then the last one, don't you cut your slice of bread? I dip my two side crusts in my tea/coffee, eat the inside then dip the last crust. These days I only eat toast with soup and it's a free for all.

This is a vital question and must be answered immediately.

TroysMammy · 06/06/2023 09:21

Not when just wearing a bra as the crumbs get in the cups.

WaitingForSunnyDays · 06/06/2023 09:24

Butter and eat while the hottest you can have it. Cut into half (rectangles), fold into quarters and eat the yummy soft buttery bit. Begrudgingly eat the crusts, wishing you didn't feel that grown-ups should.

Hoppinggreen · 06/06/2023 09:25

Remove crusts, eat toast, give crusts to Golden Retriever who is staring at you

I like to end with some crust as I tend to have bread with lots of seeds in the crust; when they're toasted they go really crunchy and savoury and delicious.

I can’t believe there are people who don’t know that triangles is the only acceptable way to eat toast!

CurlewKate · 06/06/2023 09:29

But the crust is the best bit! If nobody's watching , you can put some extra butter on it.

FanFckingTastic · 06/06/2023 09:31

The correct way to eat toast is with a nice cup of tea. How you eat it (crust first, or last etc) is irrelevant really.

orangegato · 06/06/2023 09:31

Triangles, corner to corner.

Caramelisedbiscuitbutter · 06/06/2023 09:33

Cold with unmelted butter for sure.

As little crust in the last mouthful as possible.

RagingWoke · 06/06/2023 09:36

This is the only way I will accept;

buttered straight out of the toaster with a good butter- none of this 'tastes like butter' stuff, real butter with a light touch. Don't crush the toast.

Leave it whole

nibble all 4 crusts off

Now you'll want take that middle bit and pull apart the soft, squishy buttered layer from the crunchy non-buttered layer.

Eat the crunchy bit, dip in your tea if you're feeling fancy.

And you have the final, most delicious piece left. The soft, buttery layer of the middle area.

You're all welcome.

mainsfed · 06/06/2023 09:37

I hold the crusty side for purchase.

Sometimes I do that if I don't mind getting buttery fingers.

Rectangles are never acceptable. For toast and sandwiches. Triangles all the way.

When cut in triangles, you eat one corner, then the other, then eat the middle bit, then the last pointy bit.

This every time, unless someone is watching !

I had tea, of course. And peanut butter on the toast today.
