Fifty plus and overweight although trying to slim down. Bought some big M and S pants and am a complete convert! So comfortable. They look like granny pants but they don’t ride up, pinch or try to cut me in two. DH seems to still fancy me in them which is a bonus, I suppose.

please tell me I’m not the only elderly, fat saddo who only wants to wear giant Bridget knickers!

Wear! Bloody autocorrect!

Although some days my peri menopausal fug may lead me to wonder where the Hell I put my clean pants!

Big pants are amazing

Coronationstation · 31/05/2023 14:57

wear whatever the hell you want, it's not like anyone is going to see them is it??

cardibach · 31/05/2023 14:58

I treated myself to the hugely expensive but rock solid Snag high leg ones. Awesome. Not riding up or sliding down in a nuclear Holocaust, ever mind a shopping trip. Fabulous.

DrSeuss · 31/05/2023 15:00

I know I can do whatever I want. That goes without saying. I just wanted reassurance that I’m not the only one who has given up even trying and just wants belly warmers.

I'm 42 and have been wearing granny pants since my mid thirties! I'm not making myself uncomfortable for anyone else's pleasure! When my DP commented years ago, I handed him a pair of my skimpy ones and told him to wear them for a day and get back to me. Needless to say he hasn't he hasn't mentioned it again

TokyoSushi · 31/05/2023 15:02

I got some for after my C Section with DD, she's 10 now and I'm still in them!

Caramelisedbiscuitbutter · 31/05/2023 15:04

Been wearing big fat granny pants since I was 30. My husband will occasionally make lighthearted jokes and my retort is that men get to wear comfortable boxers without judgement. We laugh at my “ships’ sails” drying on the line. He couldn’t care less in reality and no one else is seeing them.

greenmarsupial · 31/05/2023 15:04

I love my big pants and am never going back! I'm 39.

littleripper · 31/05/2023 15:04

DH once commented that "your pants are so big" so I showed him they were in fact much smaller than his. Big comfy pants are the only pants to wear.

Ditto 😂love my big pants!

Mindymomo · 31/05/2023 15:06

When I turned 60, 2 years ago I tried M&S full briefs, although they still look three quarters on. I agree they are very comfortable and are cheaper than the high leg ones I was buying. I’ve also got some nice ones from Sainsburys that are super smooth. Doubt I will ever buy anything different.

DrSeuss · 31/05/2023 15:06

Took DD aged 12 to Victoria’s Secret because she loves the Ajax song. She was appalled that people would consider things as they looked like instruments of torture! And the “plus sized” models were still thinner than me.

Been wearing mine since I was 20 🤣

AppleKatie · 31/05/2023 15:06

Yeah I ‘converted’ at about age22.

DH hasn’t seemed to notice (in almost 20 years)…

OP I’m astonished you’ve waited this long to just wear what you like.

Silvergoldandglitter · 31/05/2023 15:06

I'm the opposite. I only find thongs comfortable. Loads of fabric makes me uncomfortable.

Same, although it's only four years for me. But I'm never going back! 😂

Fellow Northerers, be advised that Boyes, aka the Harrod’s of the North, has very nice Playtex or Sloggi knickers.

living life in compfy boyfriend-short-like briefs since my early 30s and loving it.

granny pants would feel to small!!!

DrSeuss · 31/05/2023 15:12

I used to wear trousers a lot for work so had to get something to wear under them. I work with teens who will certainly inform me if the can see a knicker line. Lately I find skirts more comfortable as my tummy makes trousers that fit tricky to find. Big pants do work better with skirts, I find.

I'm 48 and have worn big shorts-style ones since my early twenties.

Thongs and polyester/ lace all trigger thrush or a uti so I'll choose big cotton drawers over pain and discomfort every time.

Insideallday · 31/05/2023 15:16

Wearing big M&S cotton granny knicker since my early 30’s.

Don’t know why I waited so long.

Women conditioned into believing they have to wear tongs or skimpy underwear.

Interesting. What do they look like?

You're definitely not alone, DrSeuss I discovered the big ones a couple of years back, along with biscuits, which I'd never been a fan of before. I've really got to rein it in, though - the old waist and chin are growing by the dayGrin

Ginmonkeyagain · 31/05/2023 15:19

Massive cotton pants FTW! It's not too much to want you bum properly covered.

I tend to wear M&S midi pants but they seem to have stopped selling them in many stores. I am not impressed.
