When's summer? I can't believe it's June tomorrow. AIBU to be fed up with it. I just want some warmth to enjoy before we're back to putting the heating on.

I'm in Cambridgeshire. We've had a few nice days above 18⁰C, but otherwise it's been cold, windy, and crap!

All the playoff finalsat Wembley were bathed in glorious sunshine over the bank holiday weekend so why is OP saying the weather had been bad in London ?
Staffordshire here and glorious for last 2 weeks or so though cloudy today I grant you

It hasn't been bad in London. It just hasn't been 25c like the last few years, just hovering around 20. We have a warped view of what the weather should be like due to it having been very hot in the South East over the last few years. Hot for us is 25, not 20, which much of the rest of the country thinks is a lovely day!

CosmosQueen · 31/05/2023 11:21

North Wiltshire here and it’s barely 10°; I’m wearing a fleece, long sleeve tee shirt, trousers and thick socks (and considering lighting the wood burner because I’m so cold!)
It’s been lovely in the sun over the past week but such a chilly NE wind (at least the washing dried)
It rained a bit for an hour first thing which was a surprise but very welcome.

Brunnera · 31/05/2023 11:25

Derbyshire here. Spring took so long to arrive, still wrapped in blankets in April! Daughter back under them again today!

A deluge of rain a couple of weeks ago meaning the lawn was about 2ft long but too wet too cut.

Respite from the rain for a week last week and for first time lovely enough to have a BBQ. Woohoo. Now it's cold, windy and drizzling again. We needed a bit of rain but christ it's cold for nearly June. There was a bloody freezing wind on a trip down to the South Cotswolds on Monday.

Stupid weather! It'll probably stay dank then we'll just suddenly be thrown into a 40 degree heatwave overnight! Then it'll be winter again 😅

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 31/05/2023 11:35

NE Scotland here and it is cold, drizzly, and yuck today. There have been a few nicer days but not hot-hot. The highest forecast temp visible on my weather app is 16.

ApolloandDaphne · 31/05/2023 11:37

We are on holiday in the Lake District and it is glorious. It is like being abroad. We have worn shorts and vest tops every day.

NettleTea · 31/05/2023 11:41

Its bright and sunny in East Sussex, but my god, the wind..........
takes the edge off anything the sun is trying to do

On a plus washing is drying on the line exceptionally quickly

Elphame · 31/05/2023 12:06

The sun may have been out the last few days in Somerset but there was a bitingly cold wind which means I'm still wearing a fleece if I go out.

It's gone grey and overcast now and it's barely 16C in my sitting room

Summer clothes are still hanging unworn in the wardrobe.

Sueandstan · 31/05/2023 12:10

I'm loving this thread and all the posts and seeing what everyone around the country is experiencing. Definitely the case that we must be used to nicer weather in London for the time of year than we've got now. We have had a few decent days but it's back to overcast and there's a wind. I'm comfortable in a coat and jumper outside today, so maybe I feel it more than most who knows. But if you're visiting London I'd recommend a jumper, although hopefully it'll warm up- the forecast keeps saying it will but it's all overcast with cool wind.

Bloody cold in London today.

I'm so fed up of the weather too. We get one nice day then rubbish again.

AppleandSpice · 31/05/2023 12:55

East Midlands here. Saturday and Sunday was warm enough for shorts and vest but come Monday back to jeans and jumper. Today is damp grey and cold. Had heating on yesterday and for short while this morning as I was feeling the chill.
The sun is trying to come out behind the clouds now but sky still cloudy.

Lockheart · 31/05/2023 14:03

Its 16 degrees in London at the moment, I went out for a walk at lunchtime in just a shirt and jeans, no jacket or jumper.

In no world is 16 degrees "bloody cold".

countrygirl99 · 31/05/2023 14:22

Out here in the sticks there's a wind chill factor. The room I'm sitting in is currently 14° which is fine if you are active but uncomfortable for working at a computer. So this morning poo picking the field at 10° was warm in a sweatshirt but I'm really feeling the cold slaving over excel spreadsheets and have added a fleece.

Canterbury forecast

To be very fed up with the weather

Canterbury forecast

Looks fine on paper, except that doesn't add in the 'gusts' which are constant, coming off the north sea and have been pushing into 30mph for the last 2 weeks...

And let's not discuss the cricket last night...

TemporaryNaming · 31/05/2023 14:42

Central Scotland - 24 & sunny today which is lovely! We are usually watching you all down south with envy so it makes a change. Long may it last, the days are so much nicer when the sun is shining!

Growlybear83 · 31/05/2023 14:43

I'm in south London and whilst it was nice and warm over the weekend, it's really chilly today. I put a thick cardigan on earlier and have just put the heating on for a couple of hours to warm the house up a bit.

Prometheus · 31/05/2023 14:55

We’re on holiday near Lincoln and it’s 17 degrees, cloudy and windy. At home in the north west it’s 22 degrees and blazing sunshine all week. We’re seriously tempted to cut the holiday short and go home early.

coffeecupsandwaxmelts · 31/05/2023 15:11

Makes such a difference to be enjoying sunshine here in the NW.

The beaches are full, kids are swimming in the sea and the ice cream stalls are absolutely rammed with customers.

I'm a dog walker and I've been in shorts and vest tops for the past two weeks. Too hot to wear anything more!

LittleFreakJezebel · 31/05/2023 15:17

I hope everyone that comments 'it's cold and rains all the time' on every thread started about moving to the NW is reading this thread Grin

firef1y · 31/05/2023 15:21

OK it's a bit miserable today but here on the Essex/Suffolk border we've had some fabulous weather over the last couple weeks and we're not that far from London. I've managed to get an impressive runners tan in the last 2 weeks and I can't imagine our weather is that different from Londons

Weather v climate. Different things.

I’m in the south east on the coast and it’s lovely and sunny ☀️ Has been for about 2 weeks, no rain either and none forecast.

firef1y · 31/05/2023 15:31

Oh and although I'm someone that wears shorts all year round (including deepest winter), I've been wearing vest top to run/train at 6am for the last month and seriously considered dropping down to crop top over the last week. It really isn't cold, I was far too hot during parkrun at 9am Saturday and that was with a strongish wind coming off the North sea

AlltheFs · 31/05/2023 15:33

I’m setting off in a couple of days to Spain. First holiday for 5 years. Forecast there is worse than here, all rain. £5k down the drain. Absolutely gutted.

Ah so sorry, does it have a spa? Can you cancel?
