To be very fed up with the weather

When's summer? I can't believe it's June tomorrow. AIBU to be fed up with it. I just want some warmth to enjoy before we're back to putting the heating on.

There’s a lot of us Kentish Maids, or Maids of Kent on this thread.

Peridot1 · 31/05/2023 09:42

It’s currently 13 degrees here where I am in Hampshire. Grey and windy.

I think London can be a lot warmer as it’s more sheltered so maybe not getting the wind we have.

Wherethewildthymeblows · 31/05/2023 09:44

In Cornwall, hideously sunburnt as I misjudged things yesterday. It's been glorious sunshine here for ages, though I admit the wind is still cold (hence misjudging things). And it is grey today. Hopefully finer weather will be on its way soon.

Chipsahoy · 31/05/2023 09:45

Glorious in north Scotland these last few days, since mid last week. But when we were having misty grey days you had lovely sunshine. It’s spring still, this is totally normal and as it should be.

@AntiSocial6DaysAWeek

really? How hot exactly? Presume you are not in the uk

I'm in Scotland. It's been in the 20s. I am not good with hot weather and we don't often have it!

EmpressSoleil · 31/05/2023 09:48

Where in London are you? I’m in north London and we’ve had some beautiful sunny and warm days. The bank holiday weekend was lovely.

Granted it’s a bit overcast today but still warm. I’m just wearing shorts and a T-shirt (wfh).

Catspyjamas17 · 31/05/2023 09:48

Yeah, it is pissing me off in Kent. Too much cloud cover and the wind coming from the wrong direction which makes it cooler than it should be. The garden is now bone dry after almost continuous rain in March and April, yet neither is it sunny. There are just useless clouds hanging around. If it's going to be cloudy it could have the decency to actually rain for a bit. Then fuck off and let the sun come out.

DappledThings · 31/05/2023 09:49

I'm in East Kent. Yes the wind has been a bit chilly but it's been comfortable jumper weather, not coats. Which is ideal for me. I like it like this when you don't have to worry about umbrellas but not about sunhat either. Bit of suncream, most areas covered with jumpers and long trousers still. Not feeling baking.

I'd be happy with this all summer.

IClaudine · 31/05/2023 09:49

Been lovely here in South Wales, though grey today. Sun back tomorrow hopefully. We had weeks and weeks of rain up until mid May, was terrible.

Noneyerbuisness11234 · 31/05/2023 09:50

It's been 20 degrees full sun like being in Spain in Belfast too from Saturday

Hidinginaonesie · 31/05/2023 09:50

Perhaps I’m in denial, but I’m in London and I would have said the weather has been glorious! Admittedly a bit chilly and windy yesterday afternoon, but I was still out in just a T-shirt all day.

GuinnessBird · 31/05/2023 09:50

It's damp and grey in Essex, has been since yesterday, the weekend was lovely though.

kittensinthekitchen · 31/05/2023 09:50

Been lovely here, hot but not too hot - mid to late teens, hit 20 on Saturday.

East Coast 😉

IClaudine · 31/05/2023 09:50

I wonder if there will be a heatwave this year? It was unbearable last year.

Catspyjamas17 · 31/05/2023 09:51

We have normally had a lot more sunshine in Kent by now. There have been sunny days but not as many as usual. Most years I can switch the heating off completely in late April/early May but this year it's still coming on in the morning.

I got my hopes up as there was a thread last week moaning about 21C heat coming up but most days it hasn't gone above 15/16C yet.

Throwncrumbs · 31/05/2023 09:51

IOW having a heatwave, been hot and sunny for near on 2 weeks now, hotter than Spain apparently

Catspyjamas17 · 31/05/2023 09:53

Probably. Our weather is getting more extreme, I'd be very happy for it to bimble along at 21-25C all summer but it often goes from 15C to 30C+ overnight and we don't have chance to get used to it.

SpringBunnies · 31/05/2023 09:55

Where are you? It's really warm and over 20C for a few weeks now.

20 degrees is NOT like being in Spain!

@IClaudine

im really hoping so! 🤞
I loved it!

CoronationKicking · 31/05/2023 10:02

Makes a change from everyone banging on about how grim it is up north. It's bloody baking! Glorious

loislovesstewie · 31/05/2023 10:02

I'm in Yorkshire, it's cold, grey, miserable and earlier on it was drizzling. I actually put the heating on for a while!

queenatom · 31/05/2023 10:03

In Bristol here, it's been beautiful for the last 10 days or so, 20ish and sunny every day. Today it's cooled and we've got a bit of drizzle but forecast is saying the sun should be back tomorrow and around for the next week or so.

There's definitely a bit of an East/West divide at the moment, my parents are in NE Scotland and they've definitely not had the weather we've had!

CoronationKicking · 31/05/2023 10:05

Get to Manchester 🤣

To be very fed up with the weather
BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 31/05/2023 10:06

Not been that good in south Warks either mainly cloudy with a cold NEasterly since Sunday. When the cloud does break the sun is lovely but the wind makes it feel nippier than it is. My Mum is in Powys area & it's been lovely there for days now.
