When's summer? I can't believe it's June tomorrow. AIBU to be fed up with it. I just want some warmth to enjoy before we're back to putting the heating on.

I'm in Manchester and it's bloody chilly here this morning, had to wear a coat for the first time in a few days - it's warmed up a bit but still only 15

Allwasquietinthedeepdarkwood · 31/05/2023 10:07

East Midlands here and yes it’s cold, there’s a chilly wind and it’s just overcast. Had a lovely warm Saturday but then it’s gone and our heating even kicked in this morning. I think it’s been a colder spring than normal this year, am sure this time last year the weather was quite warm!

Lidale · 31/05/2023 10:07

In the South East here (surrey) it's always grey and although it's 20 degrees it feels muggy and humid rather than nice and pleasant!!! I feel you op I really worry that summer will be over just before it even starts just like spring and them bam straight into the cold.

It's frustrating as I have a toddler and just bought the paddling pool/ water table, finally relieved dc won't be climbing the walls and will have outside access to keep them sane. But no. Too windy and too cool to use it still.

Every day you look at the forecast and it says all day sun which doesn't help when you then wake up to an overcast cloudy day.

I miss those sunny evenings, it's just so enticing and nice to stay out late and have a late night stroll or drink. There is no enthusiasm on my end right now to go out with the weather like this.

Along with life being really hard right now it's just the icing on the cake to make me feel down. I want to wear my cute summer clothes for god sake!

megletthesecond · 31/05/2023 10:09

The days are bright but it's so cold at night. We drive home at 9:30 and a cold wind was coming through the window. I don't want a coat in the evening at the end of May.

BelindaBears · 31/05/2023 10:10

It’s been warm and sunny intervals most days for the last fortnight in the north east.

dottiedodah · 31/05/2023 10:10

How is 20 degrees muggy and humid simultaneously too cold for your toddler to play outdoors?

HerMammy · 31/05/2023 10:11

I'm in Scotland and it's been 20+ for 10 days, rain not expected until 8th

Imisspacers · 31/05/2023 10:12

We're away in London at the moment (from the north west) We packed for nice weather which was forecast and have been so cold. It's been grey with a very cold wind. I had to find a Primark and buy DD some cheap joggers yesterday as she couldn't stand being cold any longer!

LuckySantangelo35 · 31/05/2023 10:12

Fingers crossed for a heat wave

ShowOfHands · 31/05/2023 10:12

It's very grey in Norfolk and I am in a jumper and woolly socks. I don't really care though. The weather does what it wants.

I wouldn't despair op. It's still May. You can't write off the whole summer just yet. The putting the heating back on thing is months away.

lljkk · 31/05/2023 10:23

12 degrees in rural east anglia yesterday. I cracked and put the woodburner back on. Burner may well go on today, too. I'm heading to one of the hot places tomorrow, wooohooo!!

JellyDrops · 31/05/2023 10:25

Weather has really gotten me down this year on the NE coast. Its grey and cold, I only just packed winter coats away so going to have to layer but tefuse to keep wearing a heavy coat.still reading through the thread to see how far I'd need to travel for a night or two away with blue skies and sun!

Suggestions most welcome! Just want to feel the sun on my skin.

Bizarrely despite day temps being 13 degrees, last night was muggy and humid here as someone said above!

JellyDrops · 31/05/2023 10:27

Can we have recommendations for where the hot places are this week!?!

Siameasy · 31/05/2023 10:28

E Kent
We had some nice days but that wind yesterday-biting. Took the kids to the park and had on a hoodie and a fluffy fleece. Kids in t shirt of course

I got burnt to a crisp at Alnmouth on Monday (because I’m an idiot and spent all my time putting suncream on DD and forgot about myself). There was a cooler breeze but the sun was v strong. Warm and sunny in Newcastle yesterday afternoon too.

JellyDrops · 31/05/2023 10:45

Saturday was glorious for NE and Monday had a good few hours before coming in windy and cold but every other days are so grey

Today is a bit cloudy and so was yesterday morning, but it’s been generally decent for the past fortnight. DD has been needing a Sun hat at school and hasn’t worn a coat for weeks. Saturday was lovely. Had a BBQ Sunday evening. Monday wasn’t just few hours, it was sunny the entire day on the coast. My solar panels have been going great guns. My DD has a west facing bedroom, it’s been a pain at bedtime for weeks because of sunny evenings! I’m the first to complain about the weather but it’s been great through the second half of May here.

HelpMeGetThrough · 31/05/2023 10:57

Has been cracking down here in Cornwall, over 20 degrees and not a cloud. I look like I've been to Spain.

Cloudy here this morning, but due to get sunny again later and then good for the rest of the week.

HappilyContentTheseDays · 31/05/2023 11:03

Well, normally I'm not keen on hot weather but yes, it's bloody chilly here....I'm another one in the East Midlands. Lovely day Saturday, cold wind on Sunday, bank holiday was dull, cloudy and very windy....needed a coat on. Ditto yesterday.
This morning we've woken up to rain overnight, dull and it's about 13 degrees max, the wind and wet makes it feel even cooler. But the weather man on TV seems to think we've all had glorious sunshine for the last few days!

SpringleDingle · 31/05/2023 11:04

It's been all sun here for weeks (North Wales). Mostly about 18oC. I've been eating in the garden for all meals!

LittleFreakJezebel · 31/05/2023 11:04

@JellyDrops I'm on the Lancashire coast and it's full sun and 21/22 degrees forecast for the next 10 days, it's felt much hotter when sat in the sun though. I'm at a wedding this weekend and just checked the forecast which is even nicer than where I am.

To be very fed up with the weather
TeaParty4Me · 31/05/2023 11:09

In Cornwall it’s been so hot!

I’m not moaning but I forgot what the hot weather was like and I’ve got awful sunburn and things like going shopping are a chore just because it’s been so hot.

Its cooler now which is nice as it’s a nice break from it and I can do things like walk my dog without them overheating.
I’m also looking forward to later when it gets warmer again.

I’m surprised London has such cold weather as I thought it would be similar to the rest of England.

flapjackfairy · 31/05/2023 11:10

All the playoff finalsat Wembley were bathed in glorious sunshine over the bank holiday weekend so why is OP saying the weather had been bad in London ?
Staffordshire here and glorious for last 2 weeks or so though cloudy today I grant you

KnittedCardi · 31/05/2023 11:14

It's been lovely here in Surrey so the last couple of weeks. Yes, we are about two weeks behind on flowers etc, due to the cold damp March/April but May has been beautiful.

This is actually, a really "normal" average Spring. The recent ones have been abnormally hot and sunny. It's better for our ecosystems that we have some normal weather again.
