He woke us at 8.24 am moving his lawn. Is that normal?
AIBU to think that’s too early? We’re three terraced houses so you can’t escape some noise but 8.24 on a bank holiday!?

He’s been annoying since they moved in so i think I’m just annoyed at him.

I am curious whether that is when they finish their day or start their day🤣

It’s a good question. They are barmy and DH made the mistake of giving her his phone number. He’s going to have to block her soon. I’d say they are both half cut the entire time.

LakieLady · 29/05/2023 12:17

The bloke along the road was doing something noisy with an angle grinder or circular saw at 8.00 this morning. It didn't bother me, but I think it's a bit early for most people, so I've deemed him a CF.

Fuck knows what he's doing to his house though. He's been doing building work what seems like every weekend for over a year, probably nearer two. You could have built the house from scratch in that time.

Lifeomars · 29/05/2023 12:20

I don't do anything noisy before 9am and after 8pm, my neighbours on the other hand have all the doors and windows open no matter what the weather and are incapable of speaking without shouting. If they have a row, which happens often, this escalates to screaming. Their back yard is packed with scrap, they like to play music through a phone for hours on end and that tinny noise has reduced me to tears. Polite requests followed by complaints make no difference, they do not speak English so I have to use Google Translate. When I do this, they stop for a few hours and then it all starts up again. I spent yesterday with earplugs in. Every day I pray that they will move, I am so depressed that I cry about it sometimes

TheRowdy3 · 29/05/2023 12:25

8.24 is way too early to mow a lawn.

I would expect after 10am at the earliest on a weekend or Bank Holiday.

Loool.
I just opened LinkedIn

Yes that's too early. He's a bastard.

Too early. Anytime after 9am is fair game.

Tinybrother · 29/05/2023 12:07

eh? Don’t be silly. I was responding to someone who decided that 8.30am is sufficient lie in for everyone in the world, when you only have to think for about twenty seconds to realise that that’s not going to be true. How have you extrapolated that to me being ok with late night noise (I’m not)?

TinyLazybones, more like! 😆

Equally, you’re not “more creative” if you’re a night owl (this has been levelled at me as a natural early riser who has never been bothered by others having different body clocks)

can You explain more? I don’t understand this response

Kamia · 29/05/2023 12:39

I sometimes put my washing machine on after 9 in my flat. Only because of my long work hours I never have time for laundry. If someone complained though I would stop.

raabbgghhrbb123 · 29/05/2023 12:40

Sensible actually as it's cooler at that time.

Badgeringabout · 29/05/2023 10:56

8.30am IS a lie in. God there are some properly lazy folk on here.

Maybe for you if you go bed so early but for many people who’ve been working or out having fun until the early morning it will only be a couple of hours sleep.

He was "moving" his lawn? Where was he moving it to? Were diggers involved??

🤣🤣 absolutely this!!

I think it’s just jealousy.

They have to be up so everyone else has to too.

Spanielsarepainless · 29/05/2023 12:54

Our neighbour was using a circular saw on his drive at 7.30 on Saturday. But I was on the way back with the dogs so it didn't bother me. But our other neighbour works nights so I doubt he was thrilled!

No no! I’m an early riser and I want everyone else to sleep as long as possible so I get to enjoy it in peace Grin

Absolutely. I’m a night owl that’s his my body clock works. Even on work nights I can’t sleep much before 1am

How bloody ridiculous that some on here consider those whose body clock and brain doesn’t function the same way as theirs as ‘lazy’

My neighbour starts with the lawnmower about 7.30-8am every Saturday morning. She likes to get it done before they go out for the day.

I think it bothers me more because she doesn't work and is home all week so has ample opportunity to do it some other time. I work long hours during the week and don't appreciate being woken early on a Saturday.

That is dreadful, I would go mad!

WarmBeerAndSandwiches · 29/05/2023 13:12

There are some inconsiderate people on here. 8.30 am mowing on a bank holiday or Sunday is ridiculous. Why not do it a bit later? I'm sure there are plenty of other household things that can be done in the meantime. Competitive early risers get on my nerves.

BellatrixLestrangesHeatedCurlers · 29/05/2023 13:23

op you will quickly find that everything he does is annoying - I am in a similar situation. Just hearing the dickhead in question clear his throat makes me wish awful deaths upon him!! I think it’s too early on a BH myself, like they’re making a point of being up and about. Noise guidance states it’s okay though.

SparklyBlackKitten · 29/05/2023 13:34

8.24? YabVu

7.24 wouldnt be unreasonable

But 8.24. Get a grip 😅

Rewis · 29/05/2023 13:36

I agree that 8.30 is ridiculously early on a BH to do noisy activities.
