I'm going to a friends hen do at the end of June. I have known this friend since I was at secondary school so we have developed different friends over the years so I'm only vaguely familiar with the other ladies going. The maid of honour has done all the booking and is now asking for the money for the accommodation she's booked except she's sent link to the air bnb she has booked and it's only got three bedrooms and three double beds for seven people. I questioned this if she had made a mistake or are we supposed to be sharing beds and she said yes. Aibu to not want to share a bed with a virtual stranger? Would you pay up or back out? I feel like I've been put in a difficult position now as if I don't pay the others price will go up so I can't even find my own accommodation. I honestly feel sick.

Assuming the MOH will be sharing with the bride so isn't to bothered about anyone else.

Let's hope whoever the bride sleeps with she's happy to do so or that could be another story.

Yes, does the bride know she is going to have to share a bed?

I would love it if she had a strop and went home.

It's typical of hen parties. Hen parties may not be my cup of tea but this is what hen parties are about. What else did the OP expect when she agreed to go on the hen.

Whatever next? A post at the end of June where OP will complain that the other six got drunk and she didn't sleep a wink.

Hahah I’m so glad someone has put it this way! I’m inclined to agree.

would also be interested to know the ages of the posters who are horrified. I feel like anyone under 30-35 would likely care a lot less.

Old. I won't see 60 again. DD (22) would happily share a double bed with a friend, but not with a stranger.

evilharpy · 28/05/2023 18:39

Early 40s and no way in hell I would share a bed with a stranger, but I also wouldn't have done it at 20. Not a chance. It's definitely not an age thing.

I shared a bed with a cousin I'm close to on a birthday weekend away recently, and there are a couple of friends who are really more like family that I'd share with if I had to, but I'd still hate it.

chaosmaker · 28/05/2023 18:43

Maybe the other hens are on other bits of mumsnet cursing the idiot that booked it all but not speaking up for no known reason... I hope you manage to have a good time. I'd have refused to pay and would definitely NOT have bought pyjamas. Bet the bride won't be impressed either.

No.
Never.
Ever.

I've just questioned it on the group chat as the accommodation says a maximum of six people so she's actually breaking the rules. I have just pointed this out that one of us may not actually get in.

An extra person will nullify any insurance - so if there is an accident, or you (say) break a glass table (or a leg), smash a TV, set the place on fire, have your belongings stolen etc you will not be covered and will be liable or everything.

Emotionalsupportviper · 28/05/2023 18:48

The one who cocked up the booking should be the one sleeping on the sofa - but nobody should be sharing a bed with a virtual stranger.

OriginalUsername2 · 28/05/2023 19:02

Is there a group chat or is she messaging individually? There should be a group chat or email group. Otherwise this woman is calling all the shots and when you finally all meet you’re all going to be confessing you secretly agreed and just assumed everyone else was happy.

Spinninsweetness · 28/05/2023 19:04

I'd 100% be cancelling, no way !!!!!

Strawberrydelight78 · 28/05/2023 19:06

If it only sleeps 6 you can't have anymore because of fire regulations anyway.

I'd rather sleep on a sofa than share a bed with a stranger, or indeed anyone except DH and sometimes not even that's a given.

WiddlinDiddlin · 28/05/2023 19:09

Oh yeah, she booked it, she gets the worst bed and if the management catch on and kick someone out, its her, no one else.

I'd be fucking furious at paying that much money to sleep on an airbed or sofa or in with someone i dont know, and at risk of being booted out at any point!

TerfIngOnTheBeach · 28/05/2023 19:15

I wouldn’t share a bed beyond 24 or a room 35. If I couldn’t afford my own room I wouldn’t go.

HarrietJet · 28/05/2023 19:29

Missingmyusername · 26/05/2023 22:25

Three in one of the beds then? It wouldn’t bother me for one night, I wouldn’t sleep anyway, I’d sit in a chair. Will you be drinking all day/ night? How much actual sleep would be had…

But it’s your choice, I think it’s understandable that people wouldn’t fancy sharing a bed. She should have clarified before booking.

Why would you be happy to sit in a chair?!

Jeannie88 · 28/05/2023 19:32

Have done this before, was only to sleep and I really hit it off with a previously unknown future close and amazing friend and we spent ages chatting and giggling in the bed I was a bit nervous about sharing! As a student at party end we would crash wherever so I guess wasn't a big deal for me. These days, a lot older, would still be ok for one night. X

Efrogwraig · 28/05/2023 19:34

l'd assume she wasn't bothered if l went.

ASGIRC · 28/05/2023 19:41

Heh, my hobby is really expensive, so sharing hotel rooms and bed has become a standard in my life.
I dont even care if they are male or female, if I know them or not!
Its just a bed to sleep. It will be fine.

What do you think will happen to you?!

Missingmyusername · 28/05/2023 19:45

@HarrietJet because I’m bloody peri 😂leave me alone lol

Dibbydoos · 28/05/2023 19:49

I'd bag the sofa if I was def going. It's stupid to book 3 doubles when it's a group of adults who don't kniw each other 🙄

changeme4this · 28/05/2023 20:00

It’s a no from me. I would book my own accommodation nearby and the hen organising this can go jump.

I wouldn’t be paying that sort of money unless part of it was for activities, so then a part payment would be fine.

I would certainly mention this to the bride because I doubt she would want to share a bed either. None of you are 5 years old.

you could be sly and contact the BnB directly asking about the booking and mention you were curious where the 7th person sleeps….

I wondered that too. I presume people are worried about other people touching them or farting in their sleep?!

I'm paying 200 pound to share a fucking bed .

Oh god I had a friend organising a friends Hen do. She wanted us to stay at a premier in on the edge of town and share beds, no breakfast for about £60 each and then we would have to taxi in and out. I found a lovely b and b with twin bedrooms, in town and breakfast included for cheaper and she just wouldn't hear of it. She didn't find it so it was a no. No one was up for her idea so we just scrapped it altogether. MOH should discuss things and ask for help or suggestions but they just pick crap!

evilharpy · 28/05/2023 20:38

Farting, snoring, general noise, being touched... I HATE being touched in my sleep.
