I’m just wondering who on earth cares? Can’t understand why this is such big news.

It's mostly because she's not white.

Its mostly because like most of the rest of the Tory’s, she has a very dubious relationship with the truth, a massive sense of entitlement and a seriously unreliable moral compass.

Youknownorhing · 22/05/2023 18:27

That she broke the law by speeding is NOT the issue. In line with most people she paid the fine and got the points.

That she wanted to attend a course privately is NOT the issue. This can be requested and permitted if there is a course available.

That she asked civil servants, employed and paid from taxpayer money - to sort a private issue IS very much the issue and definitely breaches the ministerial code and she should be sacked.

She could have done it on zoom like other people I know

Probably not a good idea - for the same reason some teachers objected to appearing on zoom in case they were filmed.

I think you'll find it's mostly because she's an idiot. A Tory idiot who thinks the law doesn't apply to her

IWFH · 22/05/2023 18:31

For those suggesting that the interest in Suella Braverman is motivated by racism, I would politely suggest that the reason for criticising her is exactly the same as the reason people criticised Boris Johnson and Liz Truss.
To give you a hint - all three of them are useless, corrupt, self serving twats.

The strange thing to me is that she doesn't seem to be capable of sorting out a 1 to 1 course herself. It makes me wonder about what else has to be done by someone else and is she actually able to do her job.

LakieLady · 22/05/2023 18:17

Duh, I didn't realise that the course was just instead of the fine, I thought it let you off the points too.

It does let you off the points. You have to pay roughly the same amount for the fine or the speeding course. But obviously give up time to do the course, but don't get the points. Or don't give up the time and get the points.

Thebestwaytoscareatory · 22/05/2023 18:32

@Janiie & @amylou8 either of you care to comment on this being her third breach of the ministerial code or have HQ instructed you to skirt that issue entirely?

wellstopdoingitthen · 22/05/2023 18:34

AnarchoTyrannosaurus · 22/05/2023 17:33

How on earth could she have taken a speeding awareness course with members of the public. There would be risks around security, not to mention her being recorded / taped. She should have the choice to do the speed awareness course the same as anybody else, but for the reasons above she had no choice but to take the points instead.

You can do it online as a group, not sitting in the same room. Where's the security risk there?

greencardigangirl · 22/05/2023 18:34

Rhondaa · 22/05/2023 17:32

It's the hysterical media, like Boris and the cake all over again.

She asked if she could do the speeding course as a 1 to 1, was told no so paid the fine. It is such a non story

Some people are obsessed with Boris and his cake! And defending the indefensible.

Who is Stella Braverman?

DoubleShotEspresso · 22/05/2023 18:36

PoePoePoePoePoe · 22/05/2023 17:08

She broke the ministerial code. Twice. She was sacked for breaking the ministerial code last year too.

So she’s now broken it three times.

Thats a pretty big fucking deal.

This .

Absolutely this.

JudgeRinderonTinder · 22/05/2023 18:37

She is one of the vilest human beings I’ve ever known of, ditto Priti Patel. Pair of complete sociopaths. Both stony, evil expressions.

You don't think people will spend their time recording her with their phones and then uploading it to social media then. Because obviously they would. And that's not really ok.

My husband disabled his camera so was not seen himself but could still see the host and join in the meeting .

Alexandra2001 · 22/05/2023 18:16

mmmmm i don't think so because the pressure originally came from the Tory press, which seem to dislike her because of a lack of loyalty to Sunak.

However, a HS cannot be seen to be above the law, 1 2 1 speed awareness courses are not a thing, she should know this and shouldn't using the Civil Service to get herself special treatment, her special adviser also lied to the press and denied she'd even got a speeding ticket, the SPAD is supposed to abide by the ministerial code and reports direct to SB, they wouldn't do that sort of thing on their own.

As to your other remarks about Starmer, pretty disgusting but typical of the sort of right wing voter nowadays who often struggle to put across a coherent argument to why they still support this Government.

You know what I would like more than anything else is someone to put forward a positive argument for why we should continue with a Tory government after the next GE, but as much as I search no argument is put forward.

She was the Attorney General when this happened, she is now Home Secretary, one of the highest ministerial positions. She has broken the ministerial code 3 times now.

She isn’t fit to do the job. And has shown that repeatedly. Dismayed that so many seem so eager to dismiss it, is this really what we will accept?

Would it be more accurate to say she has broken the Ministerial Code three times that we know about?

amylou8 · 22/05/2023 18:08

Because she's a woman of colour trying to get a handle on immigration, which has made the lefties (labour) practically implode. So in desperation a tabloid drag up some year old story about a speeding ticket, for which she paid the fine and took the points when she was told she couldn't do a private course to save face. Kier Starmer has got wind of this, cum in his pants and called for her immediate resignation.

Was it also the fault of labour when she was forced to resign over other breaches less than a year ago?
