Feel this way about the death of Andy Rourke of The Smiths. They are one of my favourite bands of all time and just listening to them now. He was such a talented musician, he's the same age as my father, and I feel sad knowing he had such a cruel disease.

Victoria Wood

Alan Rickman - I cried for days.

I'm still gutted about them both

Susieb2023 · 22/05/2023 19:40

Nothing has hit me quite as hard as Taylor Hawkins. A year on and it’s still hard and I feel honestly ridiculous for it. But his drumming in the Foos brought me such utter moments of joy, they’ve been the soundtrack to my life.

Keith Flint. Such a nice bloke.

Sean Lock. Funniest man ever.

Cotswoldmama · 22/05/2023 19:48

Peaches Geldof, she had such young kids and seemed very family focused and clean living and it seemed so out of the blue for her to accidentally overdose. I kept thinking about her and her children for so long after I one of my son's was the same age her one of hers.

Elvis was the biggie, Meat Loaf, Terry Hall, Michael Jackson.

Victoria Wood. Simply adored her work.

Cosmosforbreakfast · 22/05/2023 19:56

Keith Flint. Still can't quite believe it. Amazing man.

oh Sad Jana Novotna

I missed that totally, such a shock, I recall watching her win Wimbledon.

BrendaHope · 22/05/2023 19:57

Recently I have felt very, very sad about the circumstances around Brian Jones' death having watched the recent documentary on BBC iplayer.

But also Freddie Mercury and Amy Winehouse particularly stand out too.

idliketogetdownnow · 22/05/2023 20:00

Helen McCrory. She seemed like a total mensch.

AliceMcK · 22/05/2023 20:01

I don’t tend to get invested in “celebrities” or emotional about their deaths. But I will say Robin Williams definitely effected me, the thought of him being so scared because he had no idea what was happening to him. I had a lot of respect for his caring nature and his ability to help others as well as being an amazing actor and comic.

Alan Rickman was one of my all time favourite actors so very sad to hear about him too.

Jellykat · 22/05/2023 20:01

Bowie

Keith Flint

Taylor Hawkins

Paul O Grady

Terry Hall

George Michael

Think i miss Bowie, George and Paul the most, really gut wrenching..

Sensibletrousers · 22/05/2023 20:04

Keith Flint from The Prodigy. Suicide in 2019.

I’ve always been a huge fan of theirs since the mid 90s, and I loved how he was so so different to his stage persona (really gentle, funny and kind in real life). I’ll never forget Brixton Academy in 1995 - he was electrifying. I wish I could have met him.

RaraRachael · 22/05/2023 20:08

The Queen and Paul O'Grady

Pjmasksonrepeat · 22/05/2023 20:10

Paul O'Grady

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 22/05/2023 20:10

Sean lock..especially when you saw comments about his appearance and how didn't sound/look right..and makes sense now! So sad. Such a funny guy and love carrot in a box

Chadwick Boseman

Gianluca Vialli...hearing he got the all clear then soon after it returning. I liked his interview where he spoke about the whole cancer battle and how people say they win but its not a battle you just win...he was a lovely guy! And the radio calls in were so lovely to hear.

BetiYeti · 22/05/2023 20:13

Terry Hall. Choking up just typing this.

somewhereovertherain · 22/05/2023 20:13

Clearly I’m a heartless fucker because I really don’t get bring upset by someone I know. Unless they’re quite young

but even Princess Di she was vilified and hated in the press right up until she died and then suddenly she was wonderful.

YoucancallmeKAREN · 22/05/2023 20:16

David Bowie and George Michael were awful and both left huge wholes in the music industry but i can't believe how upset i am at Paul O'Gradys's death.

Ponoka7 · 22/05/2023 20:25

Paula Yates, Michael Hutchinson and then Peaches. I remember were I was when John Smith's death was being made public. Me and my children enjoyed John Candy's films and like Dermot Morgan and many others, I just thought, what a waste of talent. My eldest DD was a big fan of Sean Hughes.

SerafinasGoose · 22/05/2023 20:25

Desperately sad stories about both Chester Bennington and Kirsty MacColl.

Doris Day, despite her great age. She was my favourite actress of all time.

Likewise, Diana Rigg. She exuded warmth, wit and charisma and had huge presence and gravitas as a performer. When she was on stage, you only saw her.

Rik Mayall got under my skin almost more than anyone.

It will be a very sad day when we part with both Anthony Hopkins and Stevie Nicks.

Enfys1982 · 22/05/2023 20:26

Paul O’Grady upset me so much. Such a lovely man taken far too soon.

SerafinasGoose · 22/05/2023 20:27

Oh, and Ray Manzarek. There was hardly a ripple in the media when he died but that left me very sad too.

SweetTooth2 · 22/05/2023 20:27

Robin Williams :( gorgeous human
