Did you have your child(ren) at age 39 or over? Looking for stories of hope

Feeling a bit low today when I think of never having a child. It probably will not happen for me but there's still a really small part of me that hopes it will still happen.

If you were around the 40 mark and it did happen for you, had you almost accepted it wouldn't happen?

Just looking for something positive to read today.

JimnJoyce · 21/05/2023 22:19

ditalini · 21/05/2023 22:23

I had my second aged 40. Failed to conceive aged 36, 37, 38, 11 months of 39 - the last month before my 40th birthday was the charm and we'd agreed that we'd stop trying at 40.

Magic0Magic · 21/05/2023 22:27

Had both my children in my forties - Both natural conceptions at 40 & 42.
Sending you all best wishes @Sofuckinglate

Giselletheunicorn · 21/05/2023 22:28

Conceived first try at 39. My son is 9 now.

thebestbirtheraccordingtoDD · 21/05/2023 22:29

My DD was born just before my 39th birthday
Natural conception but shitty birth
Previous miscarriage

Lovethatforyou · 21/05/2023 22:34

Had my only (DS) at 39 folllowing 3 miscarriages. I’d started trying at 36. Had another 3 miscarriages after DS then gave up ttc.

You’ve still got time. My advice is be persistent :)

Wishihadanalgorithm · 21/05/2023 22:35

Never wanted children then had an accident when I was almost 40. DD is nearly 10 and the love of my life.

oh and periods had never ever been regular and I suspect I have PCOS.

mondaytosunday · 21/05/2023 22:36

Had mine at 41 and 43. I didn't get married til I was 40. Luckily both conceived within four months of trying. Now 18 and 19!

Whowhatwherewhenwhy1 · 21/05/2023 22:38

Lucy377 · 21/05/2023 21:20

Yes. Conceived naturally at 39, she was born when I was 40.

Same for me, took 4 months of trying to get pregnant

Frightenedbunny · 21/05/2023 22:43

First one at 34, last one at 42. He was a complete surprise!

aNewYorkerInLondon · 21/05/2023 22:45

Conceived naturally at 41, 4th month of trying, gave birth to a healthy, sweet baby boy at 42. He’s currently asleep on my arm, which is now completely numb, and I don’t mind a bit. 🥰

CurlewKate · 21/05/2023 22:48

I never wanted children. Happy in high powered career. Got accidentally pregnant at 38. Freaked out! Miscarried, just as I was realizing I wanted a baby more than anything. Got pregnant almost immediately. then got pregnant again at 42. Easy trouble free pregnancies and labours. Both of them now happy well balanced young adults.

Tangledmother · 21/05/2023 22:50

My one and only born when I was 47! She's now a healthy energetic 8 year old and keeps us young...never give up, miracles happen when we least expect them, may they happen for you

PrtScn · 21/05/2023 22:52

I had an ooopsie at 39. Didn't want kids. Glad I kept him though, he's a sweetheart (although there are many times I wish I was still motherless, these are becoming less)

Sodullincomparison · 21/05/2023 22:52

One and only at 39. We decided to give it a shot not thinking it would happen and we Conceived first time trying.

no luck second time round.

TheMainlySilentFrog · 21/05/2023 23:07

Had my first baby at 36, and my second at 41. There were several 40-something mums at nursery too. Also knew a lady (friend of a friend) who gave birth for the first time at 44 and again at 46. Don't give up hope!

Babycakes39 · 21/05/2023 23:09

Had my first at 24, second at 27 and third a few months before I turned 40.

Kitkatcatflap · 21/05/2023 23:10

Met my DH at 39 married at 41 already been trying for a year before first round of IVF. Twins a week before my 43rd birthday - they have just turned 16.

Good luck.

VonThorn · 21/05/2023 23:11

I started having my DC at 37 - my last pregnancy was at 43. All wonderful births - no problems.

Literally everyone woman in my close circle has had at least one child in their 40's. It's very normal in my world.

Good luck OP.

PurpleChrayne · 21/05/2023 23:20

I had DD at 39 and DS at 41, both conceive naturally after 6 or 7 months of trying. I'm 42 now and thinking of trying for one more, which would be born when I'll be at least 43.

Tel12 · 21/05/2023 23:21

Well my mum got married at 38 and managed to have 3 children, without medical intervention of any kind so I would say there's definitely hope in this day and age.

Jomummy1013 · 21/05/2023 23:22

I am a mother of three lovely children and I am currently 5 weeks pregnant with number four. I DTD once in the whole month.
I am 41, 42 In September. My baby is due mid January. There is so much hope still. I also appreciate I am very lucky. ❤️❤️
