Should I buy this Engagement Ring

I need the advise of MN please. Looking to ask my partner to marry me and would like to know if I’m on the right track with what I am thinking of choosing. I’m thinking of a white gold or platinum pave band with a 3 carat Emerald cut lab grown diamond.
Is a lab grown diamond ok, or is this cheap?
Will 3 carat look too big to be believable?
is Pave popular?

She has recently started to wear her late DM’s wedding ring which is a plain ish gold band.
Will it matter if it’s next to white gold / platinum.
OH is over 50, with a younger contemporary taste.
If she didn’t already have a gold band, I think white gold would be her preference.
I think she would prefer a solitaire over a cluster.
Does anyone have experience of purchasing from 77 Diamonds?

I was very happy to receive a ring, I loved that he thought about it and put so much care into it. I treasure that thought and effort and the love and knowledge of me it shows.

To me the only criteria would be that the stone is ethical, which this is (it made me laugh to see someone describe themselves as ‘fussy’ for not wanting a guaranteed ethical diamond, we all have different ideas of what to ‘fuss’ about I guess…….).

It is quite big which is not to my taste but is perhaps to hers?

There is nothing wrong with choosing if you are pretty sure of her taste which sounds like you are.

However .. this is MN and it will probably be regarded as 'controlling' (pretty much every pleasant thing normal husbands and wives do for each other is normally considered to be controlling in some way on here)

Personally I love that my DH went to a huge amount of effort to design something he knew I would like - the fact it was him that chose it makes me love it more.

And yes. Agree with many others. I'm as funny as the next woman but lab gems are the only way. Everything else is pretty hideous now we know what we know about the gem mine trade !

Honestly just ask what she likes. It’s stupid to spend that much money when you clearly have no idea of her preferences.
Your ideas are all over the place, pave, plain, 3ct, 1ct, emerald, a different cut etc.
Women’s tastes are obviously all different, find out hers.
