To think Camilla should not have been crowned Queen

She should have been Princess Consort as we were told she would be. Instead the usual airbrushing of history to try and make her acceptable by clever spinning. And positive press. Bit sickening since Edward VIII had to abdicate over marrying a divorced woman.

The whole thing with Diana was because he wasn't allowed to marry the woman he loved. He should have been allowed to marry camilla from the start. Being forced to marry someone you don't love never makes anyone happy and royalty is no exception. It destroyed three generations of that family- Edward, Margaret and Charles.

BillyNoM8s · 06/05/2023 17:17

I take it you dislike women, OP?

CabernetSauvignon · 06/05/2023 17:17

You think we should have gone against the wishes of Queen Elizabeth? Why?

Charles is a widower so is free to marry in the eyes of the church. Camilla isn't.

A church that was literally founded so the monarch of the time could declare himself head of it and divorce and remarry several times.

This might be the silliest thread on MN today.

RatatouilleAndFeta · 06/05/2023 17:19

Get over it. Ffs.

DarrellRiversCriminalBehaviourOrder · 06/05/2023 17:20

Oh, hi Viv. We've been expecting you. By the way, the world has changed a bit since Edward VIII. Sorry, I thought you knew.

Bow down to your queen ! You are not fit to look at her shoes.

"Bit sickening since Edward VIII had to abdicate over marrying a divorced woman."

And Henry VIII executed two of his wives. Times change, rules change, views change.

Get over it.

Yes, Camilla should be thankful, history shows she should have been beheaded.

Viviennemary · 06/05/2023 16:45

Its not only the fact she is divorced. She was Charles's mistress for many years. Never gave his marriage a chance. Lets whotewash all that.

All of that happened 40 years ago, and Diana definitely wasn't averse to sleeping with married men. By contrast Charles and Camilla have been happily married for 18 years. How do you manage to get through life obsessing about grudges over things that happened 40 years ago to people you don't even know?

True love conquers all.

Yes, you are.

I find it so interesting that instead of an interesting discussion, PPs immediately resorted to unintelligent, angry insults.

This site can be so boring. Where are the people with a brain?

Some posts simply aren't worthy of intelligent discourse, including this one about the validity and worthiness of a woman who has been married to the heir to the throne for 18 years. If the late Queen was happy for Camilla to be called Queen after all the damage her relationship with Charles did to the Crown then I'm pretty the wider public can.

IncompleteSenten · 06/05/2023 17:21

🤷 she's married to the king. Does it even matter if she's called queen or queen consort or whatever?

Episode 2 Whatever GIF

Two people you don’t know cheated throughout a marriage with multiple people you also don’t know. Over 25 years ago.

CwmYoy · 06/05/2023 17:22

OP, you do know it was Diana who shagged away from home first?

And went on to shag several married men - breaking up at least one marriage and stalking another man and his wife.

TrueScrumptious · 06/05/2023 16:45

Of course she was going to be Queen. The King himself is divorced. Should he not be King?

No both adulterers

FancyFanny · 06/05/2023 17:23

Thank goodness times have changed and the Monarchy recognise that women shouldn't be shamed for being divorced and they are moving a little bit closer to sexual equality within the rules of the Royal Family. Charles was divorced from Diana after all but it's not being argued that he shouldn't be King because of it.

She's not my queen that's for sure. And I think it was wrong to make her such a thing.

Charles is a widower so is free to marry in the eyes of the church. Camilla isn't.

You might want to bring that to the attention of the head of the Church of England… oh, hang on.

GOW56 · 06/05/2023 17:24

I don't think the royal family can afford to be moralistic about divorce. What about Henry V111?
I don't think we should have either a King or a Queen but as we do Camilla should be Queen.

FancyFanny · 06/05/2023 17:25

Since when has being an adulterous stopped someone being king or queen? Did you not study History at school?

CabernetSauvignon · 06/05/2023 17:25

Viviennemary · 06/05/2023 16:54

Charles is a widower so is free to marry in the eyes of the church. Camilla isn't.

And yet divorced people can get married in church. And Charles and Camilla's wedding was blessed by the church in a service of prayer and dedication. And they have both been crowned by the Archbishop of Canterbury in a church. If the church can cope with it, why can't you?
