To think Camilla should not have been crowned Queen

She should have been Princess Consort as we were told she would be. Instead the usual airbrushing of history to try and make her acceptable by clever spinning. And positive press. Bit sickening since Edward VIII had to abdicate over marrying a divorced woman.

Aren't they both divorced adulterers?

Not that I care either way.

Diana groupies are crawling out of the woodwork today, for sure.

Such a pathetic post.

It's exhausting.

50% of marriages end in divorce now.

It was awful that their marriage didn't work, the same when any marriage fails. Many people then remarry. I'm sure Diana would have too. It seems unhealthy to be stuck in the mid-90's.

Viviennemary · 06/05/2023 16:45

Its not only the fact she is divorced. She was Charles's mistress for many years. Never gave his marriage a chance. Lets whotewash all that.

And she’s been his wife for 18 years.

Plus Charles cheated with her too. But you apparently don’t have an issue with him being crowned. Just his wife.

His marriage to Diana was doomed from the start. They were wholly unsuited. Even if there had been no Camilla, they would have ended up divorced.

Reallybadidea · 06/05/2023 16:49

If being divorced and having an affair doesn't preclude Charles from becoming king, why would it stop his wife from becoming queen? Just pure sexism to say Camilla should be treated differently.

CrackerAndPudding · 06/05/2023 16:50

Why are you so focused on Camila? Charles is also a divorcee, Charles was the person cheating on Diana.

Like it or not, she is his wife and should be treated as such

Charles and Diana should never have married in the first place. They were totally unsuited to each other.

Viviennemary · 06/05/2023 16:54

Charles is a widower so is free to marry in the eyes of the church. Camilla isn't.

Do you think unmarried mothers should still be hidden away too? 🤔

Camilla is the Kings wife. Therefore she’s the Queen. What’s your problem with that?

MereDintofPandiculation · 06/05/2023 16:55

Its not only the fact she is divorced. She was Charles's mistress for many years. Never gave his marriage a chance. Lets whotewash all that. First royal mistress to be crowned since Anne Boleyn, apparently.

GOW56 · 06/05/2023 16:56

She is Charles wife , so yes she should be Queen, just like all previous wives of the King.

Diana died after they divorced. He's a divorcee.

Guavafish1 · 06/05/2023 16:56

Agree

lemonyellows · 06/05/2023 16:57

You would think that divorce is a rarity the way people go on about this

@TrueScrumptious And saintly Diana had an affair with the very married Will Carling. Let's whitewash that, shall we?

LemonjeIIo · 06/05/2023 16:58

I think she makes a grand and beautiful Queen 👑
Goes to show you can be in your 70s and still play a big part in the world

mateysmum · 06/05/2023 16:59

Some people just don't seem to get the concept of monarchy. It is not a long run of "Britain's got Talent". Camilla is the wife of the King. She is therefore Queen consort. End of! We do not hold trials for moral rectitude before proclaiming someone worthy of being a monarch. If we did, how many of us would pass that test?
She has been crowned and will henceforth be referred to as Queen. She is till however the Queen consort, not Queen regnant - just like the Queen Mother and Queen Mary. Neither of them were referred to as Queen Consort. For Camilla to be so called would be unfair and unusual.
Charles and Diana's marriage was a disaster from the start. both of them behaved badly. Diana has been dead almost 26 years, Camilla makes Charles happy and therefore a better king.
Get over it.

But you said it wasn’t only the fact that she was divorced but that she was his mistress? So presumably the same concern about cheating applies to Charles?

Not just Will Carling, either.

KimberleyClark · 06/05/2023 17:00

She is queen. You are going to have to deal with it.

Viviennemary · 06/05/2023 16:54

So is your divorce magically undone if your ex spouse happens to die? 🙄

MolkosTeenageAngst · 06/05/2023 17:00

The whole concept of the monarchy is that the king or queen is born into it. They don’t have to be a good or moral person or a suitable role model. It doesn’t matter if they are an adulterer or a paedophile or a racist or a bigot, they are a monarch by their birthright and entitled to that position. The person they marry becomes a royal through marriage and again, it doesn’t matter whether they are a good person or not, that is their marital right.

Camilla is entitled to be queen because she has married the man whose birthright entitled him to be king. If you don’t like this fact then you should be opposing the whole concept of the royal family, you can’t pick and choose the parts you do and don’t like to suit the people you like. If you want to be able to choose who is in power then you should be protesting for a head of state democratically voted in by the people rather than one born into it.

Sagealicious · 06/05/2023 17:01

Charles and Diana divorced in 1996 and she died in 97 so clearly their marriage was over leaving him free to marry Camilla.

Sissynova · 06/05/2023 17:00

No, there’s more to it than that. You also have to be a man to be absolved in this way.

Well he's now culpable in the destruction of his marriage, so presumably you mean that it should miss him entirely

BMW6 · 06/05/2023 17:02

And Diana had affairs (and some were with married men) before her seperation and divorce from Charles, so you are just as critical of her are you OP? 🤔
