To think Camilla should not have been crowned Queen

She should have been Princess Consort as we were told she would be. Instead the usual airbrushing of history to try and make her acceptable by clever spinning. And positive press. Bit sickening since Edward VIII had to abdicate over marrying a divorced woman.

I don’t think she should be Queen either tbh.

But she is the wife of the King, therefore she is Queen whatever title she uses or does not use.

Queen of hearts…

Also...never speak ill of the dead.

Really? So Vlad the Impaler was a great guy, Hitler was much misunderstood and kind to everyone, Savile was just taking a fatherly beneficent interest in those children, and Shipman, Brady and West killed all those people by accident?

Quite.

However, I suspect the reply you’ll get might be, “If you can’t say something nice don’t say anything at all…”

..which is another of those empty homilies people seem to pick up from their nan.

Diana was from inherited wealth. She had mental health issues that manifested in eating disorders (as far as we know). She had no real life experience and at best had ‘worked’ a couple of years as a nanny. Asidr from seemingly being a very nice person, those were her qualifications for the role.

Camilla’s family also wealthy, although not Spencer wealthy. She had much more life experience coming to the role and from what we can gather has a civil relationship with her ex and broader family. Plus she is Kings Charles true love by all accounts.

So people are saying it’s because she (actually they) had an affair and is divorced that she shouldn’t have been crowned Queen? And these are the people saying the monarchy no longer reflects modern times. Ok 🤔

Essentially yes, the same people and mindset that said KC needed to marry a virgin who would just smile and wave, do the royal duties, and produce the necessary heirs. But times move on and this misogyny will hopefully get eroded away.

And yes guineas do rule - I’m looking at 2 greedy ones right now!

@AHulaHula For those of us who have seen adultery in our own families and those of friends. We have seen the absolute devastation it causes.

And how children are completely traumatised, with disruption in their home life, their education, long term mental health problems. For some they are unable to form healthy relationships/trust others in friendships or romances as adults.

That is what adultery does. And the people involved who have caused this to their family/friends have done so because they have no self control, prioritise getting their leg over and and are utterly thoughtless and extremely selfish.

That is the character.

And that is why I find the whole thing distasteful. Because that is what it conjures up for me having seen what it has done to people I love.

I am behind the monarchy so I’ll get on with it. But I’m not comfortable with people who have behaved like this at any point.

Queen Elizabeth II was the only Queen I ever knew this country to have in my lifetime. I have never taken to change very well and i think Camilla will have a very big job on her hands to live up to the late Queen. I thought the Queen was lovely, but we never really knew her. We only saw her in public. My mother had two personalities. One for people outside her family and one inside her family. She would put on a show for people and they would say oh she is nice. Behind closed doors she was a very controlling manipulative person and so this is why I say, we never really know people in the public eye

It's a different role though.

I'm sure most/all of them have a public persona.

That's not to say that they might be dislikable in private of course but part of their job is surely to appear interested & relatable.

I have no time for Charles or Camilla. Cant stand either of them
