To not understand why anyone would not watch the Coronation?

OK, I get that you are an edgy republican, but are you not a little bit nosy?
And if you really don't care, why are you on every Coronation thread telling everyone you don't care? Why would you not just ignore them, as you don't care?
I personally have no time for the Royal family and think they should be abolished completely, but I can't imagine not watching such a big thing for the whole country, in the same way I watched the euro Cup final even though I could not name any of the players as I have no interest in football.
Why wouldn't you?

Enjoyed two quieter than usual exercise classes this morning, visited my mum (also not interested) now reading my kindle and occasionally browsing M.N. A good day. I have no interest whatsoever in watching something like that. Didn’t watch the funeral or any of the royal weddings either, couldn’t care less.

Hayliebells · 06/05/2023 16:53

I really won't "always remember this day". Couldn't give a fig that's it's the coronation, honestly, it's just a normal Saturday for me. I'll remember it in the same way I remember any other rainy weekend in May.

Frabbits · 06/05/2023 16:54

Why would anyone watch or do anything they have no interest in, given the choice?

I couldn't give a fuck about the royal leeches. I couldn't give a fuck about football so why would I waste my time watching either?

Lovelynames123 · 06/05/2023 16:55

Well I was at work, I put it on iplayer for a bit but it looked really boring so I chatted to my colleagues instead. Had I been off I mightve had it on, but actually it's been a lovely day so I'd have probably gone out! If it was William im8ght have been more interested, not really sure why though

Kitcaterpillar · 06/05/2023 16:55

First coronation thread I've replied to. Not an edgy republican, neither care nor don't care, just straightforward indifference and lots of nicer things to do on a Saturday than watch a two hour church service.

thetemptationofchocolate · 06/05/2023 16:56

DH watched it but I was a bit busy. I did watch the procession because I like to see the horses.

darjeelingrose · 06/05/2023 16:26

Why can't you imagine not watching it @Katypp ?

I'm a bit curious, but no more, so I'll watch the news later, there'll be highlights, I don't need to watch the two hours or whatever.

Shockingly, I didn't watch the European Cup either.
I'll be watching Eurovision though, so make of that what you will.

Me too @darjeelingrose , we're having a Eurovision party with friends next Saturday, so that will definitely be more memorable than today for me! I love Eurovision. I'm mildly annoyed but mostly indifferent to the Royals.

Because I have an interesting life with actual fun plans. It’s all so pathetic

StrawberryWater · 06/05/2023 16:59

I didn’t watch.

It’s not my first thing, I would’ve been bored out of my socks.

I also don’t want to watch an odious man dressed like a giant baby riding through the streets in a gold carriage when there are people struggling to feed their families and pay their bills.

My husband works for the crown. He didn’t watch either.

erlangshen · 06/05/2023 17:08

I went shopping and bought some nice candles today. Im not British so hes not my king, just an old man, not even a particularly likable one. Im not interested in such a display which costs so much money when a lot of people are struggling with cost of living daily.

Badgeringabout · 06/05/2023 17:08

I didn't watch it as I have no interest in it at all. I have been having a Netflix pyjama day and have loved it!

I doubt you’re the only one in the world with an interesting life.

Some people just move plans around so they can watch something that they find interesting or that’s going to be part of history and be able to talk to their grandchildren about when they ask.

I don’t get the judgement.
I’m sure there are plenty of things that you do that others find boring.

Ivyiris · 06/05/2023 17:14

Happy to be on nightshifts this weekend

Sophie1980 · 06/05/2023 17:16

Penny Mordaunt defo "Player of the day" prize.
I wish I could have been in the garden, It has been steady rain here since it got light. (Midlands)
The display flights did not show on Flight Radar (Free version)
Everyone had a good day I think.
The Protesters that were locked away most of all.
They have extra to moan at as well as UK being a democratic monarchy.
2nd They were arrested
3rd They were not told why.
A real moan fest up coming

milafawny · 06/05/2023 17:18

Im on a 12 hour shift in resus, not even caught a glance of it, only just having lunch, not really bothered though lol.

ShandaLear · 06/05/2023 17:20

My favourite bit was when they gave him the Invisibility Cloak.

Blablablanamechangagain · 06/05/2023 17:20

Because reading books with, spending time with, and encouraging my 11 month old daughter to walk on her own are far more productive uses of my time. Literally couldn't care any less if I tried. I've just discovered my friend was in London last night camped out and I just shook my head and chuckled. People are weird.

spottybug · 06/05/2023 17:21

It went on a bit

littleripper · 06/05/2023 17:25

I find the whole thing incredibly depressing. Queen Victoria's Coronation cost £69K or £6.2M today. Why do these useless entitled twits think they deserve more than her? It's grotesque.

GretaGood · 06/05/2023 17:25

The 3cheers by the troops was the best bit.

BeginningToLookALotLike · 06/05/2023 17:27

I wouldn't watch a sport that I had no interest in just because it was a big national event. What is the point? Nobody would give me a medal for watching it!

TheCatterall · 06/05/2023 17:29

I don’t have any interest. No I’m not curious.
I don’t have a tv. It went 10+ years ago.
I’m self employed and making a sales page for a new product.
I have spent time with voluntary groups I manage setting up things for elderly and isolated in our area for this weekend/today and I’m kinda over it.
My street is having a little street party. I’ll show my face to be neighbourly for an hour and then hide.

Bimbom · 06/05/2023 17:30

What's an edgy republican? Is it different to a normal republican?

I can't fathom why you'd watch a football match if you don't like football. Such a weird thread

Asparagus1 · 06/05/2023 17:32

I haven’t watched it. Two football sessions this morning with my sons, then took the little one to the park 🤷🏼‍♀️

TwoFluffyDogsOnMyBed · 06/05/2023 17:32

I like these big events because the roads are quiet and it’s more pleasant to go out when most people are at home watching rubbish.
