I’m wearing a shirt dress and tights. AIBU to expect better weather in May? It’s been the coldest Spring ever, off the back of a long, freezing Winter.

😑

Really?? Where are you? It’s been consistently 16 degrees here for days, sometimes up to 18… and we are in the north west. Since when did we have hot mays?? We’re in England, not Spain.

The winter was also very mild apart from a few cold spells.

Applesinmyhouse · 06/05/2023 10:00

Its 14 degrees here and raining. I’m freezing.

Spring does seem slow in the Midlands this year my plants are all later than usual. And I'm in a jumper at 16/18 degrees tbh.

However, winter here has been dull and grey, but not especially cold.

mynameiscalypso · 06/05/2023 10:03

Our house is still really cold. I am wearing a jumper and fluffy socks most of the time at home.

Bapbap45 · 06/05/2023 10:07

Agree that May can still be changeable but I think that this weather really is dragging out. Its kind of low-level crap all the time.

Doggymummar · 06/05/2023 10:08

I was hoping the heating might be off by now npbut it's only 16 and I have hotwater bottle and winter duvet on still

RaininSummer · 06/05/2023 10:10

Miserable here. Dark, grey and wet. Wearing leggings and a jumper

coffeecupsandwaxmelts · 06/05/2023 10:12

It definitely feels cooler than normal - I work outdoors and it's only this week that it's been t-shirt weather whereas in previous years that's started in March.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 06/05/2023 10:12

I’m bang in the centre of the entire country. I’m sick of it being cold and rainy. Everybody had ‘lovely warm weather’ according to weather people last bank holiday. It wasn’t like that round here.

Slightly warmer this week, but still loading it down. I’ve been able to hang my washing out about 4 times since Christmas. Usually by March most of it is being hung out.

More rain today😣

itsgettingweird · 06/05/2023 10:13

Yes it's been extremely warm at times this week as pointed out. I'm south coast and it's been 18/20°.

Not today! It's 12° and raining.

I'm deciding whether to still wear my dress to our (under a shelter 🙄) family coronation bbq later.

But if it's any consolation ds is in Turkey at a warm weather camp. They have thunderstorms and heavy rain 🫣🤣

How the heck is 18/20 extremely warm in anyone's mind 😕

tillyandmilly · 06/05/2023 10:15

Its warm here! South east - all windows open - its the average temperature at the moment for May - lets not wish our seasons away! - to be honest I prefer fresher cool weather as last year it was unbearable!

JamSandle · 06/05/2023 10:15

May is usually a lovely month but we're only just out of April showers.

Let’s not wish our seasons away.,,,

We’ve had winter since January.

annonymousmouseinyourhouse · 06/05/2023 10:16

I agree op.

My husbands just put our heating on because it's cold in my house.

May is usually good weather where I am and it's been so cold, windy and rainy.

Passmethecrisps · 06/05/2023 10:18

It’s currently 11oC and raining. We have the fire on and I have thick socks and a hoodie on

itsgettingweird · 06/05/2023 10:23

Easy.
Up from 16 to 20° is warm for me. (If in the sun)

20-25° quite hot

25-30° nicely hot

30° and above - lovely Grin

You do realise people all have different minds and opinions - and that's ok? Wink

IBlinkThereforeIAm · 06/05/2023 10:30

I agree, so sick of it! Every time there is a little sunshine I am working then when I plan to get out it rains again. Ruining all my flowers. Even sunny days have been cool and often windy. It's May and there's not been a single week of consistently good weather without grey skies, wind, rain. After a dismal seemingly endless winter. Summer needs to be fantastic like last year to make up for this!! Still wearing all my winter clothes.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 06/05/2023 10:31

I usually start to go sockless beginning to mid April.

Still in wool ones.

cushioncovers · 06/05/2023 10:33

I'm cold, still have fluffy socks on, fighting not to put the heating back on.

IBlinkThereforeIAm · 06/05/2023 10:33

Usually by this time of year I can work at the garden table in the sunshine and enjoy the tulips. This year it's been 15-18 degrees even if sunny! 🥶 Heating has been on constantly and we've even still been putting the fire on many evenings. It's been awful!

ActDottie · 06/05/2023 10:40

It’s terrible isn’t it :( we seem to get the odd day where it feels like spring and I feel hopeful and then the next week it’s cold and rainy!

chipsandpeas · 06/05/2023 10:44

yup 12 degrees here and miserable

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 06/05/2023 10:44

Next 10 days.

Warmer but still raining.

I had to go put on a jumper
amoretti · 06/05/2023 10:49

Home Counties here....raining, cold, miserable and I'm sitting watching the Coronation with a blanket wrapped around me
